Fingers crossed we get release date today. Veilguard artbook is being promoted there, so it would make sense for it to get a release date. Inquisition artbook was released on the day of game release. As well this stuff has heavy spoilers, so releasing the artbook before game makes no sense. Has to be the day of game release or later. here we go again. Not wanting to be hyped and set myself up but also thinking you are spouting a lot of logical statements and stuff I have been thinking about on my own.

Bhaalspawn, Spirit Monk, Revan... Yeah, BioWare used to do this a lot more. The Neverwinter protagonists are complete randos, but other than that their earlier games are wall-to-wall chosen ones.
I suspect that Rook is going to be like the Inquisitor and Shepard - someone who becomes special because they're in the right place at the right time, not because they were born to it. All the Inquisitor did was open a door and touch a strange ball, there's nothing inherently special about them. Shepard is a highly trained soldier and becoming the first human Spectre is certainly impressive but other people could do what they do if not for the beacon. (The DAO protagonist also becomes special by becoming a Warden, but technically speaking they're not any more special than Alistair. Arguably less unless they're dwarf royalty.)
Really the lesson here is that BioWare protagonists should stop touching random stuff. Or maybe they should touch more random stuff, since I guess that's how the world keeps getting saved?
People really should leave thei rbelongings locked away shouldn't the ytouching random stuff is clearly bad news in Bioware games.

But SDCC is a huge event and we won't have another one until Gamescom in late August. While Gamescom is one of the largest video game convention and the biggest one in Europe, I'd find it odd for there to get a release date and not in American video game convention.

I also feel like Gamescome is too late if they're releasing in September/October. Sure, there's a chance that DAV is a November game, but the fact that several people have said they're not worried about it clashing with Assassin's Creed makes me think it will get probably here by mid-October. In which case, it's really about time they gave us a date if they want two months to really hype people up.

From what we’ve seen, there is a pretty major difference between Rook and the Inquisitor: Rook knows about Solas and willingly walks into the danger anyway. They see what’s happening with the ritual, identify a potential means to disrupt it, are warned of the risks, and decide to go for it anyway, because events are fast spiraling out of control. It’s a level of agency we never really see from the Inquisitor in the early stages of the game, either due to lack of understanding or memory issues.

I know I'm keeping a neye out fo rFC25 gawmeplay toda yas they're releasing a trailer later but that's not till about 5pm my time

Yeah and Gamescom is the perfect event to have people play the demo of the game.
Release date at SDCC, playable demo at Gamescom.
Releasing the game at December would also disqualify DAVG from this year TGA, so they'd have to wait til next year TGA. BioWare really wants to be back, now. Winning RPG game of the year would be amazing return, a decade after abstention from TGA. GOTY would be even a bigger deal, but we'll have to wait and see for that.

Yeah Avowed an dAssassin's Creed could trip Veilguard up if it's released too close to them. October looks pretty empty s owould be an idea ltim et orelease if they can ge tthe gam eread yin time. O fcourse they coul djus tdump it on us High fi Rus hstyl eand leave i tto ous but I don' tse eBioware doing that given they are a AAA studio not an indie one. Biowaer need t okind of play the release as saf eas posible reall yespeciall yif they'e rgoin gt o get anything positive out of this as the game needs a positive reception given the tightrope they are walking

Also, don't come and tell me that games release in November when it's already Steam Deck Verified.

I don't know anything about steam deck. What is the typical time frame between a game being verified and releasing? Most of the time, it's after release or a few days before since the game has to have gone through a normal Steam release/build review before doing the Steam Deck compatibility review. That is if the devs/publishers are for the compatibility tests in the first place.
Valve needs a release ready build they can install on the Steam Deck and play themselves to test controller support, display/graphics and that there is no error messages related to installing and playing the game as if a user was doing it. The "Verified" tag tells users that they don't have anything to do to install the game on Steam Deck and that it will play well on the minimum graphical settings.

So basically this tells us the game is completed and polished enough to be ready for release? Bug zapping and such should essentially be done.

so, what about that talk about "Fandom hosting a Dragon Age trailer in its main page", back when the game was still called Dreadwolf? Is that still a thing? Bioware did say that the post about "a gameplay trailer in SDDC" was old and incorrect, but maybe we are getting a "normal trailer"?

That would mean they have a release candidate without major bugs to installing and starting playing the game. There might still be bugs to squish and it doesn't account for the Xbox/Playstation builds and certification process.

Did Varric send them a letter to rendezvous? Has there maybe been contact between what remains of the Inquisition and the other factions, and one potential candidate gets sent for an ‘interview’ before everything goes wrong Varric does seem to be the key to all this. In Tevinter Nights Gatt recommended to a couple of people they contact him in Kirkwall if they wanted to help against the threat. Charter was trying to track down clues and sent Harding to Varric when she thought they had a lead in the Missing. Tevinter Nights had Charter already in contact with the Mortalitassi over Solas, they were also using members of the Lords of Fortune in a couple of the stories, even if the latter didn't specifically know the connection to the Inquisition, and in the Missing Neve was already an established contact of Varric and they met with the Veil Jumpers and told them about Fen'Harel. Presumably Leliana did contact the Grey Wardens in Weisshaupt direct at some point and asked them to pass on any information, considering they owed us one for sorting out their Corypheus problem. So, the contacts were there with the factions. It just needs to be established why Rook specifically was there but presumably either they had been sent with a message by their faction or Varric had requested they send one of their best operatives. I assume it wasn't just chance that had them in the same place when things went down.

Okay small correction, SDCC panels will last 3 days.
So release date could be announced between today and Saturday.
