Yeah I though t I heard Bellara's voice there. As the on eadmitting she made a mistake sounded like he rat least from the release date trailer as she seems t ohavea moe rhigher pitched voice. I'm not sure if that was Bellara. It could be someone else. Also, at the end the person who introduced himself as Solas didn't sound like Solas to me, so I think that was someone impersonating him. Also, I do find it amusing how Absolution, the Missing and Vows & Vengeance would seem to have a narrative based around some powerful ancient artifact and we seem also likely to uncover a few in game too. I wonder how they have been kept safe all these years. Also, there was the sound of a dragon at one point. Thought they were meant to be rare but now Thedas is crawling with them. However, it does go to show they were flying around up north before the gods escaped.

Combat video coming on Saturday: User: "Anyone else checking socials every few minutes, hoping that the combat video is online? I’m sooo excited" CM Violet: "You can stop checking. Till tomorrow 👀" [source: the official BioWare Discord] they better show everything. i mean not EVERYTHING but every aspect of the game, like...
- PC UI....this is mandatory. (They just have to play the game on PC with mouse and keyboard). Good explanation of keybindings
- A full path to a specialization. Not all 3 but 1 with every type of ability explained. i oobviously don't care about numbers (damage etc) but how they create combos, how they can be upgraded, what are traits exactly etc etc.
- How items can change gameplay (like sigils in Inquisition or the ones in ME Adromeda) - How enemies are vulnerable or resistant to something (colored bars) and how to face the situation - All camera angles and zoom, specially during the "wheel" - Interactions with the environment both during and outside fights
and more
I don't want to see just someone playing the game without any explanation and without going into the settings

It occurs to me. Lot of people have been complaining about the lack of marketing for Veilguard, even continuing to do so, but we've gone from ok kind of descent/ expected levels to absurd in like two weeks. Three pieces of news this week following on from the release date trailer and the announcement of an eight part narrative podcast?
When was the last time an EA game got something like that? Think this is a good sign that EA is putting forth resources to ensure the game is a success but then with all that money it raises the bar for that success as well.

Huh... I think you'd better just wait for the game to be released and for vids from gamers analyzing and discussing everything start popping on Youtube. Because the stuff you're talking about is much more the domain of gaming Youtubers rather than a marketing team.

I wasn't expecting a podcast as a way to market the game. EA has done books with Star Wars games, but a podcast is different; especially with all the cast reprising their roles.

Hmm, I may be completely alone in this thought as I'm not big on audiobooks or podcasts (I'm too visual I suppose), so as far as the podcast reveal goes- it's cool, I guess, but seems unnecessary if not slightly annoying? Like, why can't they just keep all these world building elements in the games themselves? It's the chosen platform we've all come to explore and experience Thedas with. Not podcasts, not audiobooks, or manga. All these other secondary tinctures of lore building feels so out of place for those of us who just wish to play the actual game and explore these next parts as Rook. The massive bulk of players will not have listened or bothered with these podcasts by release day, so it just seems weird to even bother making them at all.
Maybe I'm missing something? I'll give it a try for a few episodes just so I don't miss out on any possible lore. Who knows, maybe I'll enjoy them.
Edit: Also I'm confused: is the warrior footage happening today or not? Must know because Warrior-like classes are definitely what I always end up playing and enjoying the most.

As for what I am expecting to answer that bioware has already exceeded my expectations. The quantity of information and what they are releasing has surprised me greatly, the quality has been pretty great with 2 great trailers and a solid gameplay demo. The only real hiccup was from the game Informer article which wasn't really Bioware's fault that they closed down but most of my pressing questions have been answered and my few lingering ones I am more then prepared to wait for the game. As I mentioned the purpose for marketing is to tease the story and systems of a game. Part of the joy of a new game, especially an RPG, is experiencing and experimenting with the new stuff fresh and figuring it out. While I do understand their reasons for it since it has generated some hype I do think they might have even revealed too much story as it is.

Crystal McCord @mrscmccord This has been an exciting project that I cannot wait for all of our fans to dig into! All these beautiful voices- why not make a narrative podcast!? Hope you all enjoy! #DragonAge
Eric Vervaet @whistlingsweets I grew up listening to 40's radio dramas as I stumbled upon them on Sunday nights on our local rock radio station in Vancouver. Opens the imagination and ultimately is what led me to a life of sound. Love that this is a thing @bioware is doing!

I actually think the podcast sounds fun, and I'll probably enjoy it way more than the books, since the mediocre (if we're being generous) prose tends to take me out of them. As long as it truly is supplementary material, and not important to enjoying the story in the game, it's not a big deal to me. It helps the characters and world feel larger, like they exist beyond the protagonist and their interactions.

stupidlullabies @stupidlullabies will there be transcripts for people who can't listen to podcasts?
Jeremy Novick @jeremynovick I’m not sure, but I believe the YouTube channel will have them, and Apple Podcasts also has a transcription feature built into the platform (I think, though I’m not 100% on that).

considering that is how most games seem to be marketed these days, yes, very much so. Indeed I' m pretty satisfied wit hwha tthey'v eshown us as fa ras I' mconcerned onc ethey sho woff the female warrior Rook as we hadn' tsee nan yfemal eRook's ye t and showing off the CC a bi tis reall yal I presonall yneed now I'd b ehappy t ohide in a corner and wait for the game after that. I forgot about the CC but presumably we'll get that because they said they will show it.

Jeremy Novick @jeremynovickI’m not sure, but I believe the YouTube channel will have them, and Apple Podcasts also has a transcription feature built into the platform (I think, though I’m not 100% on that). One of the EA moderators in the official BioWare discord said that there wouldn't be an official transcripts, so unless that changes sometime in the next week, I have to say I am pretty disappointed by how this is shaping up. The problem with the YouTube's generated transcript is that they're generated from speech to text using an ai software, which seems to have the same level of accuracy as the closed captioning technology they've had for a while now. The problem with this particular software is that it a/ can't ensure accuracy because there aren't any quality control measures in place, b/ it frequently butchers words and for a fantasy setting with fantasy names this is going to be problematic, and c/ it doesn't indicate who is speaking - it's just one long run-on of dialogue with no additional context. Proper transcription includes the names of speakers so that we know who is speaking, which helps contextualize things. A fourth issue is that d/ this also frequently fails to contextualize the soundscape ie [sounds of battle]. Now, I noticed the YouTube video had some descriptive audio subtitles built into the video itself and some subtitled dialogue, ostensibly synced to the audio, but no speaker context. Frustrating -- I listened to the video and I found it impossible to really differentiate the spoken voices - to my deaf ears, the spoken dialogue blurred with the background audio and became largely unintelligible. People have been posting about recognizing Solas's voice and I couldn't even tell he was speaking even when the subtitles said he was ; which I only know was his line of dialogue because other people had posted that it was his line of dialogue. [sigh] I really, really hope that they don't rely on fan labor for something like this. It doesn't sit right with me. And it feels bad to think that I and others who rely on transcripts and subtitles might have to sit out and wait for the fandom to produce accurate, legible transcripts, instead of being able to experience it in real time like everyone else.
