In the case of Par Vollen or Minrathous, “peace” has some pretty large asterisks re: slaves/viddath-bas (plus the fact that they’re low-key warring all the time). But I’d be interested to see how the cultures operate under “normal” conditions before everything gets upended. Better hope we start off in Minrathous then as the Qunari assault on the mainland has already occurred on the east side of Tevinter in the comic series, so I dare say that will also be the case in game. Depending on how the Qunari decide to pursue the war, things could conceivably be "normal" in Minrathous. As for Par Vollen I don't believe it has ever been seriously under threat in the past, so there is probably no reason why it should be now, unless of course Solas decides otherwise and it has to be admitted that he loathes the Qun. |

Not sure if it will be an openig scene, but large amphibious assault is within the realm of possibility IMO. My likeliest scenario for DA4 is still that we're going to spend a lot of time in besieged Minrathous. I wouldn’t mind starting out in a lull between the Mage-Templar war and the Qunari/Tevinter war. It’s difficult to care about war without experiencing some of the peacetime in between. In the case of Par Vollen or Minrathous, “peace” has some pretty large asterisks re: slaves/viddath-bas (plus the fact that they’re low-key warring all the time). But I’d be interested to see how the cultures operate under “normal” conditions before everything gets upended. Can we even say that times are normal, especially after the Breach and the changes in power landscape on the continent tho? IMO we'd have enough time to interact under what can be called semi-normal conditions at a time when people inside would still be like "Minrathous NEVER fell (*denia, denial*), so it won't now".

Just got back from the BioWare Love Interest Battle Royale panel at PAX Australia, which was a lot of fun! Glad to report that Dorian was the overall winner. (I mean, I would have voted for Fenris, but I can't feel bad that Dorian beat him in the semi-finals.)
They only started with twenty options, so a lot of characters weren't debated at all. (Including anyone from BG2, NWN, KotOR, and Jade Empire as well as Zevran, Merrill, Isabela, Sebastian, Blackwall, Sera, Josephine, Samantha, Steve and all of the Andromeda LIs.) Still an entertaining and hilarious panel debate, though.
Hilariously, the final came down to Bull versus Dorian. Lots of us started yelling that they should kiss, and David Gaider suggested that they should wrestle for the trophy ... only Dorian would definitely lose on purpose.

Well, the panel moderator set up the brackets, and if she was trying to rig the competition it didn't work very well. She's a huge Anders fangirl and he didn't make it out of his initial match-up with Thane  .
I am a little salty that they left out Zevran, both the women from DA2 and both the f/f options from DAI. And given that she specifically said she was struggling to get enough ME options onto the list, I'm baffled that she didn't include anyone from MEA.
(Obviously I would have also liked Blackwall to be included, not to mention Anomen and Valen and Juhani and Khem Val but I understand they couldn't fit everyone into ten brackets and wanted to focus on ME and DA.)
