BioWare games have always been character & story-driven. That is not to say combat is unimportant. I personally, do enjoy combat as well (though the story is what’s paramount), I almost treat it as a movie, one where there’s action scenes, as well as romance scenes, character development, plot twists, an ending… etc - and I’m playing the protagonist, but also part writer, director, producer and audience. So, when it’s time to do battle, I don’t skip or half-*ass it, I’m fully immersed and just as engaged. It’s all part of this epic cinematic experience my character is the star of, and there’s fun to be had there, also.

While every game Will play different having a series where we made 4 different heroes that effected Bioware own fantasy universe in a chain of events is cool to me. From being able to Duel the Arishok or the Landsmeet quest I have enjoyed how our heroes are able to interact with the world around them.

Ghil Dirthalen posted a spoiler free version of the Q&A on her channel.
Also, the video posted by someone else seems to be the old Q&A and not the new one.

so people spend many hours to play a game when they could just watch a movie since they don't care about the real game?
if they want to see chracter kssing, talking, maybe some animals e things like this...i suggest a good TV show. it's much easier. they don't even have to care about the "useless" part where they have to build their characters in a proper way, or approach fights in the best way possible
What someone who thinks character relationships, etc., are not important in gaming is doing on a Bioware forum is the real question. i come for the real part of the game

Replay value is the main reason I play Bioware games. think replay value is always a result of the good things you enjoy in a game being done well rather then a result in and of itself. depends on the player. No matter how much someone likes a game, some won't play it multiple times. I have played DA and ME, minus MEA, many, make that a lot of many, playthroughs. An example is ME3. If it wasn't for ems I would not have the number of playthroughs I have.

When have you become the voice of all gamers? If you're so concerned about game mechanics over everything, play Elden Ring. People like Bioware games because of the story, lore, and characters. Gameplay mechanics often take a backseat in Bioware games that does NOT mean that they're not important, but fans of Bioware often play it for the story and characters. False have you even played baldur's gate 1 and 2? or even Kotor? ok you have allies, companions etc but it was not what i'm against. i'm against who thinks that fixing "kissing animation" or "let me hug the griffon" is more important than gameplay mechanics. i never said i don't want any friend in the game but that's just something extra, in an RPG where you have to fight...you can be in Dragon Age or in the Space like ME, but you have to fight with your spells abilities powers etc etc....then there is the rest
i'm sure out there people can find games where prority is how many hot dogs you can eat or how many girls you had sex with
and i didn't say ALL...but i'm sad that MOST of the people thinks more of this Extra things raher than main mechianics
It's like if i'm waiting play FIFA (soccer game) and what i care is how i build stadium, or the price of match, and all these things....and not if players are balanced. if i care about those other things i should play something like Football manager, not FIFA

Buddy, once again, you don’t speak for all gamers. Let me tell you one more time because it seems that many posts that responded to you flew over your head. A lot of people don’t play BioWare games for the combat, they play for the characters and story. That’s what BioWare prides and they those kinds of gamers who prefer story driven games. While mechanics are important, its not as important as the story from a company that is best known for its storytelling and interactions.

False have you even played baldur's gate 1 and 2? or even Kotor? All those games you mention are from over 20 years ago. Why is that? It's not 1998 or 2003 anymore. The world has moved on. And many things weren't in games back then not even because nobody wanted them, but because technology wasn't there yet, and both the gaming industry and game market weren't what they are now. Bro... you're like someone who is coming on a forum dedicated to "Football Manager" - a game about many of those things you don't care about - and confusedly insisting that "Football Manager" should be FIFA, while lambasting players for caring about things "Football Manager" is well known for.

I think you already know my answer in some ways but honestly one of the things that really kills MEAs replay value is just how limited the save system is which means, since I hit it, I am apparently just stuck on my two Ryders and can't really experiment without deleting one of them...or just deleting all the saves to start over. At least in the case of Hogwarts Legacy it codifies your saves. But yes other then that, was even tempted on replaying Andromeda earlier in the year but my wife bought me Forbidden West for my birthday.

Anthem is kinda like Andromeda in a sense that people who played it agree for the most part that gameplay (in Anthem's case, the flying mechanics in particular) is good, but the opinions about story and characters are mixed bag. And it shows quite well that most Bioware fans prioritize the story/characters over gameplay.
I played Anthem and i hope that Bioware will use their experience in developing the flying mechanics in the next Mass Effect. I can't think of any game that had something like this.

It's not like there's absolutely *nothing* about it to enjoy, but that game was clearly designed with the whole live service bullsh*t in mind. Story is barely there, almost an afterthought, really, and there's very little in the way of human connection, emotional investment, a world that's shallow and barren at best. It's all about that damn Javelin, you barely ever see your character. A fn' disaster better left in the past.

Because MEA removed some choices/options that were in the trilogy, it lowered the replay value. At least for me. But the number one reason why I found the game bad was the main character. I could ignore the stowaway and traitor as much as the game allows, but I couldn't the main character

Can the same be said for Anthem? I haven't played the game, but from the feedback I've seen/heard, the game wasn't very good.

But there is a reason why i only finished it one time. I'll definitely replay it tho, along with the trilogy, when/if ME5 is properly announced.

Yeah honestly I was glad it flopped because it worried me future BioWare games were going to be like it. And we know at one point DA was indeed heading that direction. Even if Veilguard isn't my favorite DA game, I'm at least thankful they are returning to the things they do best.
