Game awards aren't particularly meaningful, but out of curiosity, has a remake won GOTY before? I know Rebirth added a lot of new stuff, but that seems like a major precedent to set.

You'd have to make a considerable effort to get them to leave though. Rook: "Shoo, shooo" Companion: Take me, lover ♥️ Rook: I don't need you anymore. I want you to leave. comp: What? Why? Rook: If you must know. I don't like you. You don't contribute as much as I like when in combat. You have bad BO. comp: Well...well.....**** you Rook: Fine. Don't let the door hit you on your way out comp: (flips the bird as she/he walks out)

Will they even be allowed to sell DAVe in China? Doesn't their "ministry for culture" or whatever prohibit a lot of entertainment content that features nudity and/or LGBT content? Or have I been misinformed? It seems there is heavy misunderstanding on China. I'm Chinese and would like to clarify as best as I can. Although in China the politics in general leans to conservatism, and censorship is somewhat ambiguous, most (99.999...%) video games can be bought. Especially, we can conveniently play games on digital platforms such as steam, EA app, Uplay, PSN, XBox Game, etc. These are not prohibited, though may not be promoted neither. We are not primitive people or barbarians. In fact, China has been growing to one of the most important markets of video games. Go check the sales of big games like Baldur's Gate 3, Cyberpunk 2077, etc. However, Dragon Age is not so popular here, from what I observe. The main reason is that the localization has been terrible. There is no Chinese subtitle or text in all DA and ME games, unlike other competitors (games from Bethesda, CDPR, Larian, Ubisoft). There are still some groups of die-hard fans building patches for this. A few days ago, the patch for Chinese text in Inquisition was released, ten years after the launch. Million words are translated into Chinese, with incredible passion and countless effort. As for DATV, I'm glad that Chinese text is added officially. Unfortunately, the war between woke and slept would harm the reputation and sales of the game. Err - I don't think anyone suggested China was primitive or that Chinese were barbarians. I was going off the information that I'd seen about censorship of entertainment products that feature certain content in your country. If that information was incorrect, then good to know.

Archi @exhaustedarchivist.bsky.social I don't know if either of you can even answer this silly question, but would you be able to hazard a guess at how tall Ghil is?
I'm reaching for giant woman heights and estimating 17-20' based on the last trailer and dai scaling. 👀

I will wait and see how those choices are handled. There were always complaints about how previous choices were handled in each game. I remember that although Inquisition has the Keep for a highly customized world state, there were still lots of complaints about how most of the choices were simply recognized in codex or in a dialogue, or even ignored, or represented terribly (such as Hawke who automatically hates warden and blood magic). Also, many complain that the HoF didn't show up. That was similar as DA2. It is just difficult to find a satisfying solution.

If we can't mention which character drank from the well anywhere in the new game, "my DA" is the "same DA" of someone who chose Morrigan to drink from it. Now, of course they couldn't address every decision from DAI or past games to avoid that kind of "similarity between worldstates" that I exemplified, but limiting to 3 choices? that is sad... it's like they hated the DA:Keep, because they are doing the exactly opposite

Yeah exactly. I know this response may sound flippant so I haven't done it yet, but there is always the realm of fanfiction and headcanon. And my general rule has always been unless Bioware makes a choice cannon I am free to create whatever stories I want.

I spent so much time setting up world states to use for DA4 over the years, knowing most of it wouldn't matter but wondering what little choices here and there would be acknowledged even if just in notes or a line here and there. Even once they said the Keep wouldn't be used, Corinne made it sound like some elaborate interactive experience so I was hopeful we would get a decent number of choices (I knew it would be smaller for sure but was still hopeful). But then to only have 3 choices...just makes me sad.

You bring this up, and what's interesting to me is how much people say they want the different races (mainly Elves and Qunari) in DAtV to look like those in Dragon Age 2... But I VERY much remember a vocal part of the community not liking the aesthetic changes of the Elves when that game was revealed and launched. Sure, the Arishok design looked nice, but some were even saying they were apprehensive about the Qunari being given horns. If there ever comes a time when BioWare makes another Dragon Age, actually does design the Elves and Qunari with the DA2 looks, only to then be met with backlash about how absurd they look, at that point I would even find myself frustrated as a developer.

I generally think we owe the big choices more than a line change or brief cameo I can't help but feel disappointed about this, and I'm also frustrated by how they always seem to mishandle their marketing. However, If the spoilers are accurate, the early signs are promising (regarding cnc), but we need more to fully overcome the initial disappointment.

i made a conscious choice to focus more on reactivity within this game. having your choices you make as Rook matter to Rook and Rook’s story This part sounds good atleast. I like how whether to you take or leave your sibling in da2 and whether you save the chargers or not in dai gets you different results later so I'd be happy to see more of that kind of reactivity in the same game for datv. Though I still thinks it's a shame about the well of sorrows choice.

Does Assassin's Creed Shadows quitting to February throw any sales toward Dragon Age? It certainly will, although the number is of course unclear. I am lurking in a few AC communities and for the past hours I am seeing a lot of "Now I can play/focus/try DAV" type of comments.

Though I still thinks it's a shame about the well of sorrows choice. Yes but I can see how they may have managed this. Flemeth says something to the effect that her real interest was finding out who drank. Having done so, she was content to leave it at that. I think that points to the fact that not only could should control either person regardless but she was also intending passing on her power to Morrigan, which is what she was doing in the epilogue before she met Solas. Once Morrigan had accepted her inheritance, Mythal communicated that if Morrigan hadn't drunk from the Well, then she should either nullify the geas, thus freeing her priesthood from the tie to the Inquisitor, or communicate in some way that they should not impart further information to them, to ensure there were no loose ends when it came to who had control of the knowledge.
In fact it would seem that the priesthood could be selective about this anyway. Couldn't their memories have informed the Inquisitor about elven history before they even got to Trespasser? It would seem you have to ask before they tell you anything and even then, since I assume my Inquisitor might have enquired out of curiosity (they were an elf after all), it would seem they can be as evasive as Solas if they want to be. Essentially the priesthood controlled the release of information, not the other way round.
As for being under the control of the priesthood/Mythal, well now they no longer have the anchor, what can the Inquisitor do that would be a threat to her plans? They don't even have a powerful organisation under their control any more. Thus, their importance in her plans is now negligible and similarly the Well is no longer important.

Archi @exhaustedarchivist.bsky.social I don't know if either of you can even answer this silly question, but would you be able to hazard a guess at how tall Ghil is? I'm reaching for giant woman heights and estimating 17-20' based on the last trailer and dai scaling. 👀 John Epler is Veilguarding @eplerjc.bsky.social14-15 feet would be a safe guess i think it does depend to some degree what she’s doing with her tentacles Who would win a tentacle fight? Ghil or The Emperor?
