What? Isn't purple for the glorious Rome Empire? Until fairly recently purple was a very difficult color to manufacture, thus very expensive, which is why it's a color (similarly to blue, sometimes red) often associated with royalty and luxury (even more so their bold and deep hues, as it's mostly the rich who could afford them), or in case of Europe - religion (it's a liturgical color across Christianity, in Catholicism it's a color associated with bishops and archbishops). And yes, it's been like that since ancient Greece/Roman times, at least in places in Europe. It's... kinda amazing that a thing like symbolism of colors can be simply a matter of supply and demand, but it's hardly just a color thing - a ton of stuff we still associate with high class or nobility is that because it either is, or was at a time, just goddamn expensive.

It helped DAI, if I remember right. It did. If the game's good, reviews well and the internet doesn't melt over 'woke', it 'should' be an open goal.

Lol, if DAVe turns out to be a hit, do prepare for ragebaiters to suck to "Veilguard did well, because there was nothing else to play at the time!" argument like a tick from hell.

I mean, tbh, that list does sound like there's nothing else to play at this time. I mean, COD maybe given its popularity, but its a different genre. I don't know about any new Life is Strange game, but I know its narrative-driven, but much shorter. HZD is closest to DA's genre wheelhouse and its just a remaster. So its not very likely to pull sales from Veilgaurd. This will help DA's sales initially, and also in the awards, potentially. Like how Inquisition benefited from not being in the same release window as Witcher 3. But ultimately, if the game isn't good, it won't be remembered fondly. A release window clear of direct competition will only help boost what's already there.

To me the argument sounds funny mostly because... well, Bioware isn't' releasing Veilguard for free, and it will be a pretty big time sink. Not that many people will be buying it just because they're bored and there's nothing else to play, given that it's not a game targeting the audience with most time to spare. And even if there aren't that many things similar to Veilguard released alongside it, there are recent big RPGs to play that aren't as expensive anymore, if someone has that itch to scratch.

Ubisoft announced the delay for AC: Shadows to Feb 2025 from Nov 12, 2024.
Not hilarious at all. It would have impacted DA:V, imo

Don't care about the sales, or global reception or woke stuff. Been there, done that. DA2 release was awful, memes everywhere, devs losing their shit on the old BSN, the scandal of Anders hitting on male Hawke unprompted...The look of the elves...It was obvious the game was rushed but we were told "nope it was all thought out dev decision" *Sure, Jan.* DAI, All the female were ugly. Cassandra was a man. Sera very existance offended. David Gaider did an interview saying Dorian was the first gay male character, meltdown. The *curated* Crestwood demo showcase that had little to do with the final game. After all of this crap, we end up on a high note, Trespasser. I was so hopeful. Anyway here we are a decade later. DAI best Bioware selling game didn't stop the absolute shitshow that followed production wise. We learnt they sat down to brainstorm a multiplayer DA4 without much companions ! The cherry on top is firing seniors employees without proper severance and using their work to promote DATV.
I just want to have fun with DATV. The woke rager will keep on raging, and Bioware as a company will keep on doing whatever the hell they've been doing.

The new LIS is very divisive among the fans. Horizon is also garnering lukewarm reception. The list really sounds like least fierce competition to me.

Look, I get the majority of the sales happen early in the life cycle. That said, the idea that a "busy schedule" and a game can't sell is ridiculous. It doesn't necessarily have to sell well early; like Cyberpunk 2077 had amazing legs post launch. It can happen.

I like Horizon but I'm no tfool enoug hto buy the remaster tbh. Especiall given the original works jus tfine on my PC so I'll stick with that.Plus I m no tthat keen o nneeding to subscrib et oPSN in order t opla yit. TBH the onl yreal threa tto Veilguards sales that was comin near it was the new AC gam but given that's been moved t onext yea rfo rnow. So I don' tsee an yspotlights bein gtaken awa yfrom Veilguard.

It's also a phenomenal game, though opinions will vary. I look forward to revisiting it yet again, next time with mo-cap and other improvements. It will be a while, of course. I'll probably play Veilguard several times and then take a break.

I agree, the gameplay loop alone is a lot of fun. Plus aesthetic of robot dinosaurs in post apocalypse is inherently cool. It could perhaps be tighter in writing department but it wasn't actively bad or anything.

There exists many awesome hair styles in games. Why did Bio refuse to include/modify them into DA4? Instead, we get "hundreds" of shitty ones.... to my eyes, anyway.

I object! My favorite color is purple. While I favor the base color and some its darker variants the most, I appreciate all tones. You know that the color purple doesn't exist? Hmm, I wonder what's the hidden meaning of that in Veilguard...
