Hey, can someone remind me what we're talking about with Crestwood? It's been a while. The pre-alpha showcase showed a far more interactive setting. Choosing to defend the keep vs the people of Crestwood and that having lasting effect, being able to sabotage the enemy before engaging them by burning their boats etc. Pretty much nothing like what actually happened in the game. Basically it's not a great idea to show things too early because people get disappointed/angry if cool and interesting things don't make the cut.

I wonder how much information they can give at this stage without avoiding the crestwood situation. Well one would think they'd know who the protagonist of the game is by this point. Lol crestwood was a matter of a set piece ending up different not “does the main character have the anchor?” We didn't have any official announcement of the game yet tho, compared to a time when Crestwood bit was shown. Plus, given how Inquisition and Trespasser has ended, letting us know who the protagonist (or main plot pusher is) is not an insignificant piece of information.

Hey, can someone remind me what we're talking about with Crestwood? It's been a while. There was leaked footage of a BioWare dev presentation that showed you a more detailed and impactful version of "The Keep" system using the Crestwood region in DAI as opposed to the ones we got which was attributed to the challenge of trying to develop a game for prev gen and next gen at the same time. Don't believe it was ever the intent of BioWare to have the footage viewed outside of the presentation but it got out anyway and thus established a narrative that BioWare "broke promises" somehow or gave a false sense of what was to be in the game. Edit: it was leaked from Digiexpo 2013 by a guy recording in the audience

Then when it's confirmed that the Inquisitor won't return, how many posts will Hanako Ikezawa create saying Bioware is wrong and won't buy the game? A lot less than you, Serza , and the others like to complain. And what is it that I complain about Dragon Age that's more than you?

I was so relieved that sequence got reworked in the final product. Timed missions are a true nightmare. The timed mission at the the Templar keep (with Cole) where you split time defending the troops while collecting necessary items in the courtyard was not so bad. you just had to occasionally break off your search to babysit the troops. Of course, the timer was reset after each babysitting.

For those interested, here's the original gameplay video from DigiExpo (Crestwood & Western Approach). Watching the "concept" video after playing DAI several times was interesting.
Unfortunately the Crestwood plot in real DAI had only one outcome (exposing semi-recent Crestwood history). The concept video changed the plot outcome and game landscape during the plot. It was like the consequences in DAO. However DAO only showed the consequences after the subplot was completed, but without changing the game landscape (Dalish quest for example).

Of course, the timer was reset after each babysitting. And the Wicked Eyes mission also has timed portions. I loathed that aspect of WEWH, despite enjoying the political bits. Even though both missions have ample time, I end up dropping into tac cam and meticulously plotting out all my movement. I spend most of the missions paused, worried that if I free move I’ll lose too much time running the wrong way or pathing inefficiently. Look, I’m the kind of person who read budgeting books for fun as a child. Used to make fake budgets that involved basically zero furniture, so I could max out my hypothetical savings account. Being in a situation where simply standing still wastes a valuable resource is excruciating to me.

Being in a situation where simply standing still wastes a valuable resource is excruciating to me. In WEWH, climbing up and down a wall while learning the statue order (for a Potion recipe as I recall) in the adjacent library was not bad (I also use tac cam)
However, the servant quarters was nerve racking where I jumped down but could not return the way I came. All the while I had no idea where the exit was, and I was contantly getting lost. Arggh

While I'm being mindful of the clock, I have to admit I'm usually not terribly worried about it - I mean, aside from being able to re-gain some points by talking with people, negotiating and so on, there's enough coins scattered all around to throw into the fountain and regain time that way.
