Rob Donoghue @rdonoghue I have no idea why this is on my mind right now, but goddamn If I do not love the handoff throw in FF7: Advent Children so much that it still makes me tear up a little and set my aspirations for gaming a little higher. #theyreourfriends
This has set me to thinking about video games that have made me cry, and taken as a whole I must say, from the very depths of my heart, “Fuck you, BioWare.”
It’s not all them, of course. But it’s a lot.
#someoneelsemighthavedoneitwrong
There is a choice in Dragon Age: Inquisition which I made (and would make again, for reasons) and was Ok with, until I saw Varric’s face. I genuinely do not think I could face that again.
Patrick Weekes @patrickweekes What I'm hearing here is that we succeeded in delivering emotional engagement.
Mary Kirby @biomarykirby I want to hear if he did the follow-up conversation with Varric back at Skyhold!
David Gaider @davidgaider "I'll just kill Hawke. No biggie." *goes back to Skyhold*
"OH NO I HAVE MADE A MISTAKE"
Mary Kirby @biomarykirby I PUT A LOT OF EFFORT INTO MAKING THAT MISTAKE AS PAINFUL AS POSSIBLE, OKAY? I HAVE STANDARDS!
Rob Donoghue @rdonoghue I should add, they have been responsible for other emotions like, pride, joy, and "I wish i was still punching Solas in the face".
Emily (aka Domino) Taylor pentapod "If dragons are intelligent, riding a dragon would be weird! That would be like me riding you!" "Hey, it's only weird if you make it weird, bro" #overheardintheoffice

- Dragon riding you say...
I’d prefer a griffon. I’d name mine Feathers.
I still want to ride a dragon and then point at my enemies and be like "BUUUURN!"

Hmmmm, if i recall 2DA files allowed fan made content. You could change things in the 2da and put them in an override folder. Being able to customize is always nice and can extend the life of a game.
Casey Hudson @caseydhudson Just watched a milestone review here @bioware. So inspired and impressed with what our teams are doing, and I can’t wait for you to see it all. No, I didn’t cry at some parts - you cried.
Ramiro Cibrián @dramido Can't wait to see what you guys are doing!
🐉Melissa 🏹Janowicz 🐲 deedlite I can't wait for people to see either. I honestly am so humbled every day seeing the amazing work that everyone is doing.
Jani M. I. Turunen @janisku7 I am impressed what EA is doing for @frostbiteengine to push it better workflow with @visualstudio teams so LLVM things get better what help your teams to make more impressed work

I pulled a small snippet from an article on InfoWorld regarding what LLVM is (as I wasn't aware of it). If anyone wants to read the full article, click here.
LLVM makes it easier to not only create new languages, but to enhance the development of existing ones. It provides tools for automating many of the most thankless parts of the task of language creation: creating a compiler, porting the outputted code to multiple platforms and architectures, and writing code to handle common language metaphors like exceptions. Its liberal licensing means it can be freely reused as a software component or deployed as a service

Awesome!
I still have no idea what that means.
The Frostbite Engine probably has custom scripting language (or even more than one) and the better integration with LLVM probably means less work maintaining and working with said scripting language.

So if I can try to interpret this from my own understanding, it basically means that it would allow for different suites of tools, which could enable unique gameplay features (textures, animations, skeletal rigs, menu options, etc), to be made compatible with Frostbite. Do I have that right (roughly speaking)?
Imperator Furiåsa @devilkitten I'm totally nerding out in the wonderful world of Thedas right now. I'm feeling a bit under the weather, so I'm playing DA: Awakening (and honestly it's to analyse the broodmother a bit) but I ended up making an excel for calculating rune crafting and I'm such a nerd...

No "hair improvements"?.... not impressed.
Morpheus: "know what happened happened and that it could not have happened in any other way".
Imperator Furiåsa @devilkitten When you play Golems of Amgarrak and have a distinct feeling you know that voice actor only to realize it’s Varric aka Brian Bloom. It’s like coming home. Also chewing through the Dragon Age Origins DLCs makes me feel accomplished when I’m really just coughing in my chair.
