I would just point out that given what he was wearing at the end of Tresspasser I highly doubt he 'kept' his equipment that we gave him. Maybe his staff. Of course, he did. Its safely secured in a magic box beneath his pillow just like everything else that reminds him of us! T_T
I'd be annoyed, but I'd also think it funny, if one of his lieutenants turned up in that gear next game. I mean, "I get the best gear, you get the hand-me-downs." is how I outfitted *my* team, after all. Dunno about y'all.

Only until I hit the max level - then it's FANCY time and I can spend hours crafting and tinting gear for everyone, heee Also, it'd be quite hilarious if the only appearance of Inky in DA4 was walking out of eluvian, giving Solas a slap in the bald head, yanking the staff and marching off in a huff. "I just wanted my stuff back!" they say, leaving confused new PCs and Solas to finish the fight between themselves.

Of course, he did. Its safely secured in a magic box beneath his pillow just like everything else that reminds him of us!Particularly if he took note of the careful way my Lavellan stored everything elven or of magical significance. That was the general rule when it came to selling things; if it related to non-elves then we cashed it in but all the named staffs plus anything with an elven history or connection, I stashed in my trunk no matter how much money I could get for it. After all, isn't that what Dalish do? So I didn't mind him walking off with my stuff even though I had kitted him out in some of my best elven items provided he made good use of them. If I should ever find them turning up on some future market stall, then my Lavellan is going to be pissed.

As long as you don't steal from the Dread Wolf, he's got 200,000 gold stashed away in the Elven Mountain Ruins in Trespasser. Who knows what he's got stashed in other old haunts of his? So you'd have every right to be pissed if you found stuff you gave him in a flea market.

I'm fairly sure that if Solas needed this stash, he'd use it anyhow and that he probably knows locations of tons of useful treasures to further his cause. Maybe even it could be argued that he's left all that gold there for Inky to take it, in case the Inquisition's broke and needs some pocket money to start going after Solas ...Though it'd be funny if we met him in Trespasser and he was like "okay, I'll tell you all I came here to say... but give me back my gold first, please " Then they spend 20 minutes bartering.

I left the money there 'cause I already had... 200,000? 300,000 gold? (I loaded up my last save; it was just over 100,000 gold as I'm about to enter the eluvian to see Solas) by Trespasser. And in the main game there's even a bit with Josephine where you're reassured that the money in your inventory is yours, personally. The Inquisition as an organization has a separate money pot that's taken care of by Josephine.
I figure Fentelban must be the richest elf in Thedas, after Solas perhaps. And that, post-Trespasser, she's like "WTF am I going to do with all this? Gold is HEAVY! Can't carry it around..." So she invests in Josie's shipping company, invests in Varric's more-likely-to-succeed business ventures, and then funds Dalish and city elf ventures, Cullen's home for retired Templars, Thom's efforts to give convicts a second chance, etc. from the interest and dividends.

I know the city is a bit of a dive but some people seem to like living there, so at the very least you could rent it out. I thought my Lavellan would find it useful as a base where they could store all their stuff. Also went to the next Arlathven and handed out goodies. It helped soften the blow of the revelations about the Creators. Let's face it though, with the amount of money most have left over after Trespasser you could fund your own private army. I'm guessing that is how the shadow Inquisition keeps going even if you disband the original one because you no longer have access to its funds.

I'm a hoarder so I usually have to take everrrrrrrything that lays on my path And yea, I usually don't need the money in my playthroughs at the time I reach Trespasser - but eh, as you said, there's a ton of causes that this gold can support, including Inquisition's new mission (or stuff like fancy prosthetics ). I mean, at the time we finish Trespasser, even if we keep the organization, Inquisition is likely not earning as much money as it did prior to Exalted Council given its diminished role and appearances of inaction/pacification, plus - we're venturing into a new, pretty hostile territory. So they may as well hoard as many resources as they can to continue operating, even if we assume that factions like Lucerni (or Kirkwall under Varric or Josie as head of her family) will pitch in or we're going to continue finding treasures (... not necessarily Solas's other stashes, though that would be as fun a plot point as finding new eluvians and putting them in awkward places) that will help fund our efforts.

I always imagined/ headcannoned that the gold you recieved from loot/ selling stuff was just a percentage of its value and it worked like the British Prize System during the Age of Sail. Like 10% goes to the Inq. 5% goes to the companions/ advisors, the rest goes to the Inquisition and to pay their wages.

I guess he's the Dead Wolf now. #SorrySorryNotReallySorryButKiiindaSorry I'd pay good money for that mod. And I'm sure what Solas did with the gear left with him was what every adventurer does. Sold it all to a merchant for gold, then, pickpocketed all the gear back from the merchant and sold it all again, until merchant had zero gold left. And to all those that say Solas doesn't need gold, think again. You think all that holier-than-thou grows on trees?

Chris Anderson @postmodernlocke You can make Dragon Age cyberpunk if you replace "The Fade" with "The Internet" and "The Veil" with "The Firewall". Solas: "Rifts in the Firewall imperil both this world and the Internet." Blackwall: "You've seen many things in the Internet, how do you know they're true?" Blackwall: "You make friends with spirits in the Internet. So... um, are there any that are more than just friends?" Also, replace "Mages" with "Sysadmins". Solas: "Sysadmins draw forth the essence of the internet, and use that essence to shape reality." Solas is a disillusioned network admin I will die on this hill, dammit. #TheDreadWolfRises and uses Debian. He's CCIE certified and smug about it. True fact: He was the earliest adopter of VR technology and won't shut up about it. The Tevinter are DevOps. The Templar are the Helpdesk. The Chantry is Management at your ISP. Sandal is the guy who generally sits by himself and is tasked with hardware upgrades. "Firmware?" "Firmware!" The Qunari? Full of CISSPs (infosec).

John Epler @eplerjcWe're moving offices soon, and I'm really excited to start taking transit/cycling to work (current office location makes that tricky). The weird thing for me, though, is that I've been going to the same building for work for literally more than a third of my entire life. Been at @bioware for 12 years, and I'm 34, so it's just a little odd to contemplate. - So the move is finally on!

Bad news... oh dear moving in the middle of the dev cycle for 4...I can imagine this will be the moment future journalists will point to as when they ran into troubles.

idk about the VA tease from AWR tbh, last time this happened it wasn't for DA and there are elves and bears in most every fantasy game. #doubt what's the timeline for this sort of thing in game development anyway? with DA4's recent reboot, eeeh I kinda feel like it's too early at this stage for voicework?

idk about the VA tease from AWR tbh, last time this happened it wasn't for DA and there are elves and bears in most every fantasy game. #doubt what's the timeline for this sort of thing in game development anyway? with DA4's recent reboot, eeeh I kinda feel like it's too early at this stage for voicework? ...Only the DA 'reboot' wasn't recent. It was in 2017. Almost two years ago.
