problem number 2 since I am very confused on the faction vendor system since it does not seem to tell you which valuables are most ideal. So yeah even if I like my first Rook enough to make him canon his first PT could go bad. I can be wrong, but nonetheless I'm pretty sure factions don't care about 'most suitable' valuables - just that you sell stuff to them. I just sold what I accumulated in my pack while questing to the faction merchant I wanted to rank up, so you don't have to worry about that, really. However, if you find yourself in a spot of trouble while ranking faction/merchant, like: there aren't enough valuables to sell them, or you just can't be bothered to go out there to collect junk - across most (both faction and non-faction) merchants you can find pricier valuables (from blue to gold) that you can exchange for currency (either gold or the green sprites one, and sometimes barter surplus material, depending on the vendor) that you can then sell to the faction you want to buff up. So THAT'S why valuables have rarities to. Think I bumped into that today and was so confused as to why that'd be even in the game.

I'm pretty much at the very beginning and i remember seeing a tooltip that said something about factions having preferred valuables. Am i making that up? Can somebody in the know elaborate?

About bugs, I've had a couple. One where killing enemies in a some Solas missions didn't unlock the door to the next area that killing them was supposed to and one where upon reloading my custom character would be replaced with a preset. Not even the preset I used to make my character (though still an elf). Both of these issues were solved with reloading (when my custom character got a different appearance I sometimes had to reload twice). Other than that and some slow loading of some in game assets occasionally I haven't had any issues. Which is pretty good since my computer is from 2017 (I have a gtx 1080 card).
I'm 40 hours in and haven't finished act 1 yet (just got Emmerich as a character) but I'm having fun.

It's a small detail, but having party banter occur in the Lighthouse when more important conversations aren't waiting was a stroke of genius.

This game didn't even have 90k players on steam. Its getting hate everrywhere. Honestly its a huge flop Sorry i have to dissagree with the getting hate part. On youtube it's getting more and more Let's play. People that where sceptical or negative about it, are positively surprised. It will not be a BG3, but people have fun is the best advertising. It will sell well, but people will see it as an mixed bag.
Edit: That's true, there are certainly some noisy bigoted assholes on social media. But there are fewer and fewer every day at least on YouTube.

How about we don't make this into a 'Which game is better than this and that?' war and have either fun with a game or not?? What the players think about success of a game doesn't matter anyway. Only EA and Bioware can in the end decide what's a success for them. We don't know which goals they set themselves internally. They might have accomplished goals already, or they will, or they will partially, or not at all. We do not know, so this is all moot. Thats another discussion. I am specifically talking about the lackluster player count on steam. Whether people have fun with the game or not doesn't concern me, I am sure some also had fun with Concord or Anthem & another flops. Its not looking good for this game. At this point only strong sales on consoles can save it. Dragon age go since DA2 more and more to the consoles. So i think it will sell well on consoles and the player nummber isn't the selling nummber. A flop means it sold bad.
Wait until we have the selling nummbers or look at the steam selling charts (#5).

That's not how everyone sees it, to me these are pretty good numbers Question is if EA thinks these are good numbers for a game that was in development for 10 years and had a huge marketing campaign.Yet it really has barely 1/8 of the players that the likes of BG3 and Cyberpunk 2077 had The game wasn't 10 years in development. It started 2017 and as epler said he joint 2019 so in full development 5-6 years.

Something I am puzzling about that I wonder if people can help me with. I keep seeing videos where they say that a certain number of people are playing Dragon Age on Steam, in other words on PC. Does that mean you have to sign into Steam every time you wish to play and that is how they know the number of people playing at any one time? Or does this mean something else? I thought that once the game was downloaded it was meant to be entirely offline?

While Steam does have an offline mode (which may or may not work with any game in its library) it generally defaults to the user signing in to Steam online, yes.

Also, have to sign into the EA account to play DAI. I thought when they said it was offline, that meant once you had downloaded the game that was it. If my internet isn't working I can still play the game. Good to know. Just another thing on the list of reasons I won't be buying the game. I definitely think I will be better off just going back and replaying Origins again.

Some Steam games do work without internet access but I seem to remember that some games do not, even if there's no online multiplayer component that could logically cause that failure. It seems to mostly depend on how the dev studio in question handles the lack of internet access. Not sure about the EA App, I have literally played no game on it for many months now. GOG Galaxy is the most user friendly in this aspect and lets you run offline games without even starting the client... or at least it used to, I haven't actively checked that in a while either.

Bottom line...Insider Gaminginsider-gaming.com/dragon-age-remaster-unlikely-creative-director-says/While Creative Director John Epler would like it to happen, he doesn’t see it likely. In an interview with Rolling Stone around the game’s launch, Epler was asked about seeing the first three games remastered in some way. “I think I’m one of about maybe 20 people left at BioWare who’s actually used Eclipse,” Epler told the outlet. “It’s something that’s not going to be as easy as Mass Effect, but we do love the original games. Never say never, I guess that’s what it comes down to.”

Bluesky is very positive. Twitter is a real mix. Dragon Age Reddit seems mostly positive. YouTube has a mix of positive, rationally skeptical and irrationally out their tree. I've not heard of the 'non canon' suggestion, I thought I'd read some dumb ideas, but that's a new low.

But when you by it on an platform that is always online, off course you have to login.
Maybe someone that bought a disc can confirm that.

The DA sub was more positive at first but when you look at threads in the last few days they are very negative. See this thread: https://www.reddit.com/r/dragonage/comments/1gjyul4/datv_act_3_spoilers_finished_the_game_frankly/ Its one of many highly upvoted negative threads. And its not all "chuds" or bigots either

I actually haven't watched a whole lot of YT content on DAV, just the official trailers mainly, but I definitely knows how YT sort of feeds the confirmation bias loop. With e.g. reddit and so forth I expect its more of just old fashioned confirmation bias- seeking out threads and comments that agree with this hate-boner some people have for BW/DAV, and disregarding those that conflict with it. Which, atm, appears to involve a WHOLE lot of willful disregard.

Yeah the main dragon Age subreddit: www.reddit.com/r/dragonage/ Lots of fans there since reddit these days is more popular than normal forums like this. And its very negative Overall at best this game is very divisive and controversial, even if there are positive voices as well there is too much hate to call this game well received in my opinion. I guess we will just have to wait and see for the sales information because EA only cares about that anyway.
