One thought. With most Dragon Age games having DLC, there was healthy news-worthy buzz for months after launch. As Veilguard having no DLC (straight on to Mass Effect) does that mean that Dragon Age 'news' is essentially done for 7 years or so? BioWare is probably going back to smaller turn around. So probably more like 3-4 years instead of 7.

Probably laying out the general story line, getting the "bones" of the game in place, and figuring out what tools/assets to use. Part of me wonders if this will be a 30-60hr experience rather than the common 60-100hr journeys for more completionist run-throughs.

Concerning Reddit, I'd be shocked if Veilguard wasn't hated on the DA subreddit, after the tidal wave of butthurt BG3 triggered on r/Baldur's Gate. True but BG3 has its own sub which loves the game. Old school BG fans seem to have a lot of gripes with BG3 though

For the original trilogy, I agree. However, a completionist run of Andromeda could take 80-120hrs, so it's definitely pushijg.

This forum is for hardcore fans so dont be surprised if reception and outlook here is trending more positive or optimistically than Twitter or reddit which are people's favorite places to doom post because they're so accessible and with the biggest megaphones.

I love how the environments and platforming in this game is designed. Instead of having literally every single thing you can jump, climb, or walk across being slathered in yellow paint, everything is integrated seamlessly into the environment. Ive had to really look around and think about how I'm going to get somewhere and have been surprised a few times that I was able to cross something because it didn't look any different from the rest of the world! Love it! I feel like I'm actually exploring instead of just having to find the yellow painted rocks and feel excitement and pride when i figure it out. I looove environmental puzzles where I can just jump around and find stuff or paths to further areas, so this game is almost tailor-made for me, and I think I've spent as much time figuring out how to get to this or that chest, jumping on rock shelves and wooden beams, etc. as I did fighting enemies - I saw people sometimes complaining at the simplistic puzzles (take crystal to that socket, or turn the beam to hit a pod), but most of those things aren't puzzles on their own, but components of those environmental puzzles that reward paying attention to surroundings to find new areas, paths or nooks with loot (and sometimes, with new enemies xD): in fact I've learned to associate things like floating crystals or wisps with something exciting, because it means there's something to discover nearby.

Old school BG fans seem to have a lot of gripes with BG3 though These are die hard table top players who cannot understand that a PC platform is NOT a tabletop. Their gripes are meaningless, given the different platforms.

Puzzles are a waste of my time. I got through them so far but is really super annoying with my sluggish system where the screen zig-zags at the slightest mouse movement. Not enjoyable until I fix this mouse sensitivity problem.

This forum is for hardcore fans so dont be surprised if reception and outlook here is trending more positive or optimistically than Twitter or reddit which are people's favorite places to doom post because they're so accessible and with the biggest megaphones. Because your argument didn't work, like I said the reception for BG3 is overwhelmingly positive everywhere but the OG Baldurs gate sub and it has its own huge community Veilguard meanwhile is getting bashed everywhere even on this forum for "hardcore" fans. Show me a big community where its getting love. You simply can't compare the reception of these two games. At best you can compare Veilguard's reception with Starfields which was hated a lot too Hardcore fans don't matter overall, Bioware has to appeal to casual gamers and "normal" fans to succeed. So yeah this forum (even if most here liked Veilguard which is doubtful) does matter less than reddit where thousands of DA fans are Seems like you won't be convinced until we know about the sales or maybe you will cope even then

Not enjoyable until I fix this mouse sensitivity problem. You're making it seem like there's only one component of environmental puzzles in form of beams of magic... but there aren't. Most environmental puzzles don't even feature them, unless we're in Arlathan Forest, where they're used the most (and even then it's not always).

In marketing, hardcore fans matter a lot because they'll spend exponentially more money on you than the casual fan. They will also bring other people in because they spread their adoration. Seth Godin and many other brand and marketing professionals have proven that. Of course casual fans matter too, but don't disregard the hardcore fans. They're a smaller but mighty population.
That said, I never argued that the game was a critical success. I, and others here have said there is no official statements from EA yet.
I've said that the game is fantastic for ME regardless of what you or any other negative Nancy has to say. You're free to dislike the game, but you don't have the power to make ME dislike it.
BTW, Something I love about this game is how if party banter gets interrupted, the characters will bring the conversation back afterwards. You don't miss out!

While I sometimes see games boasting about selling a million copies in a week... well, that's the thing: while we know it already broke records for EA for single-player game played concurrently on Steam (which isn't the only platform DAVe was played - Inquisition also got most sales on consoles), the game is out for less then a week

Are you talking about HZD FW with the yellow paint, if so you can turn that off in the settings. One of the games, yes. And thanks i didn't know that! There are other games I've played where every single thing you can climb on has markers on it. But the first HZD game was one of the first games I played where it was everywhere and I perceived it as baked into the textures.

I can't remember about HZD but HZD FW pretty sure there were choices but because I am lazy I had them turned on. I did like the more subtle ones in HZD though, where the surfaces were marked lightly as if the rock had obviously been climbed on. But I agree it is refreshing to just intuitively look for the obvious climbing route, that is something enforced in AC games though.
