Could be, but there's two different announcement items there. So if that's one of them, what's the other? Could just be all the announcements since it doesn’t have a game workname next to it. For example it could be both DA stuff, Anthem 2.0, etc. My guess is that "_announcements" are just announcements for the staff. "mor_dailies" caught my eye though.

Patrick Weekes @patrickweekes In in-person meetings, especially ones I'm running, I will often respond with, "Good point," and stuff when people say stuff.
In web-meetings, that doesn't work -- everyone stops because they think you have more to say.
My workaround is to do those, "Oh, cool!" notes, as well as things like, "I have a thought when you're finished," in whatever text chat goes with the web meeting. Those little social cues are easy to miss in web meetings, and that seems to help me. Hope it helps some of you!

Am I really the only one interested in the mor_announcement one there? That one is for project wide announcements. I can safely say none of the ones in his picture will offer any tidbits about the game. In fact, given how many channels do have much more revealing names I'm beginning to suspect Mark set this whole thing up intentionally... If only you could see all the channels I'm in...

Is "design-bad-ideas" for cataloguing or encouraging? It's mostly just links to articles and pictures of poor designs, mostly real world examples but some video game 'features' as well. Thank you!

Tori-Parker AlexanderJack player_Parker@patrickweekes @biomarkdarrah @bioware @karinweekes the world of dragon age has many different languages both current and ancient or forgotten and it's impressive to see a company develope these fictional languages but has anyone considered like an elvhen or qunlat sign language? Patrick Weekes @patrickweekesIt’s a great idea, and maybe something we’ll tackle someday. Right now, it’d be very expensive to develop and capture it for a character. If we did, I’d expect us to use ASL for starters, like they did in Dragon Prince.

Julie 🐺 💖 @julietaube Dear Patrick, I don't want to bother you, but since you write in Dread Wolf Take Me that Solas was with the Inquisition for a year - is that the "official" canon time for the duration of DAI? Because... it doesn't really work with the events and distances.
Patrick Weekes @patrickweekes A typo, no. Us consistently playing very fast and loose with how long it takes to get anywhere? Yes.
The main consensus was that once we accidentally started doing things like “three-week trip to Val Royeaux to take Cole for a quick lunch,” none of it made sense, so we ballparked a year.
That said, Thedas isn’t the size of North America. It’s the size of Western Europe.
Angela D(alish). Mitchell 🐺 ⬆️ @drunkdalish Thanks, Patrick, this helps enormously! Shrinking those distances (which I tend to assume are huge because -- big map!) helps me to shrink the action into a year.
(whispers) but I'm still basing my fanfic stuff on 18 months because oh well, why not.
Patrick Weekes @patrickweekes 18 months is much more realistic. And is still in a place where folks would say “A year,” give or take.

That said, Thedas isn’t the size of North America. It’s the size of Western Europe. That may be but back in the Medieval period, which approximates to Dragon Age, when there were no planes, trains or automobiles, it did take quite a long time to cross even the larger countries in Western Europe, let alone travel from one side to the other (which is what we do when we go from Ferelden to the Western Approach). 18 months is much more realistic. And is still in a place where folks would say “A year,” give or take. What they have also conveniently ignored is their own in-game timeline in the Hushed Whispers side of the narrative. When we get bumped forward a year in time and Dorian asks Fiona the date, she replies "Havestmere 9:42". Now I seem to recall that the Conclave was meant to have happened in the early part of 9:41 (Cassandra was questioning Varric in 9:40 and allegedly took him with her after that to meet with the Divine) and in any case, even if it was nearer to spring, that still makes around 6 months would have passed before we went to Redcliff Castle, which makes sense considering all the travelling around we have to do first. Even PW suggests it would take around 3 weeks to travel to Val Royeaux, so 6 week round trip. Then after the mage/Templar resolution there is even more travelling in Ferelden and then across the entirety of Orlais to the Western Approach, then back again, then off to Orlais again for the Winter Palace, then back to the Western Approach, plus march down to Arbor Wilds (even if the Inquisitor uses the eluvian for a quick return) so however much time it took us in the first part of the story, you can happily double it. So I'd say 18 months would be a minimum time frame for the story to take place in which Solas was involved, but more likely longer. Since when was 18 months a "year give or take"?

With the number of times I criscross the map in an average PT, it'd be closer to 18 years. Given that, I figure the time they assign is largely moot anyways. They might as well just make up whatever they want...

Yea, I always assume that (at least in my completionist playthorughs) the definition of 'a year' is vague and stretched to its very limits, bringing it more to 'almost 2'.

But Thedas is NOT medieval period Earth. They may not have planes or automobiles, but they have magic, enchantments and stuff like remains of Imperial Highway as well as an internal sea and rivers that can cut the travel times. You won't have a perfect overlap of time it takes to travel from Denerim to Val Royeaux, or Ferelden and Western Approach, even with a full party, simply due to different history, geography and make-up of the place.

I vastly prefer 3 years. Even from my experience in college and such some of the depth of the relationships we headcanon among the companions would require a good stretch of 3 years. Just think of all the in-between campaigns, troops deploying and training and not to mention the extensive renovations on Skyline! 18 months is still too short in my headcanon

And 'a year for stuff to happen' is actually longer than it took Frodo to complete journey from Shire to Mordor in LotR, which AFAIK was about 6 months. And events in The Hobbit take about a year. With that said, I don't think BW folks feel very strongly about messing with people's headcanon if they want to stretch this stuff to 3 years or so.

Marmele⁷ @marmele22@patrickweekes The book is a little scary (some of the storys are v.e.r.y scary). Is this the tentacled new tone for the next game? However i liked your stories, thank you so much! Patrick Weekes @patrickweekesI can’t really talk about any new game, but stuff from anthology is roughly analogous to past games: Horror of Hormak: DAO Deep Roads Wigmaker Job: Your mother in DAII Luck in Gardens: Some parts of the Descent, maybe? So while it might feel more immediate due to the skill of @eplerjc, @courtneywoods, and @sylvf1, the material isn’t out of line with content we’ve done in game. They’re good at creepy, though.

Given that the HoF played in Ferelden on foot in a year, I think the Inky could make that on mounts.

Given that the HoF played in Ferelden on foot in a year, I think the Inky could make that on mounts. They not only have (some of the best quality) mounts, usually the Inquisition has allies and agents along their routes and unlocked zones who scout, clear some of the way, organize resources, build camps and pick up stuff, which in itself would make travel a lot faster. That's true even if we assume that Inquisitor travels with full entourage that encompasses most of his Inner circle and a contingent of people that follows them with heavier provisions. Such group is still very mobile, while there are only a few times when we move an entire army somewhere (that only happened twice - for Adamant and Arbor Wilds).
