Multiplayer only? What? The article doesn't say that. I think Mike always wanted the big three, eventually all four, races and has just blocked the time where deadline-induced human only protagonist was a thing from his memory. lol I think when he says "I have no recollection" he really doesn't. www.gamesindustry.biz/articles/2014-11-03-biowares-inquisition Ah. I see where you are getting it from now. Thank you.

So Gareth is playing DA (Inquisition, I assume). You just know he's romanced himself, just to remind himself how it felt to break all those hearts. And also punched himself, probably.

I think he plays male Trevelyan, so it's unlikely he'll romance himself. but his wife is definetly romancing Solas, even though Garret warned her about him

There was always a plan with DA for I think 5 games? Correct me if I'm wrong. The story is not over yet and I personally would be incredibly pissed if it never got told in the form of games. I'm super invested in the world, and regardless of what happened with ME:A, and who has left the DA team, the fact remains that the franchise still has trustworthy and talented people involved who give a shit. For the last few years, they've said their plan is to be continually "thinking 2 games ahead". There's no plan to end the series (that they've told us).
Just a random idea hre, but they don't need to be always advancing the timeline either, how about playing as a pirate during the years that DA2 is set, that's a long period of time, or a traveling mercenary, something cool could have happened in Rivain in 9:37, why not see that?
The possibilities are endless, it doesn't always need to be 'big bad about to obliterate the world chapter 4536743642+1'
Just my opinion.

If they can come up with something cool that happened that wouldn't also be something that should have been known about outside that area or by characters we met already in a previous game who should have known but for some reason didn't, then yeah, all for it.

Yeah, a minor event, new characters, but completely self contained, can easily be done & I think small, personal stories might be a fun way to go after such a big world event like DA4 is going to be.

Yes, and provided you are prepared to read it carefully it makes perfect sense. It's also an interesting suggestion.

Posting this, since it appears to be relevant to Dragon Age. It's from a recent Variety interview with Mark Darrah: “What I want to move us toward is more of a conversation with the people playing the game,” Darrah says. “Our DLC has always been story-driven in the past, which is great, but it’s always been really infrequent and really big, partially because it’s been really infrequent, so it had to be really big. What that means is that it’s not a conversation. It’s more, ‘Here’s a thing we hope you like it. Here’s a thing we hope you like it. Here’s a thing we hope you like it. Too bad if you don’t, we can’t do anything about it.’ When you can get more of that more often, then we’re able to react, evolve, and change. The people playing the game can influence what the game becomes over time. That’s going to be true, not just for Anthem, but for our games going forward in a way they haven’t been able to in the past.”

I hope whatever format it is, it is still story-driven.

What does this mean for Dragon Age DLC? Episodic DLC? I hope whatever format it is, it is still story-driven. It quite likely means that post-launch content will be split into smaller chunks and they will have more flexibility to create it. That doesn't necessarily means the end of large content/story DLCs, but they can be decoupled from whatever else is usually stuffed into them to make the offering meatier (like combat improvements or trials in Trespasser, for example) and it probably means that there will be a lot more updates and goodies between larger content updates that can also be more reactive to player feedback or wishes.

"The people who play the game can influence what the game becomes over time" sounds like that idea Schreier floated and I don't like it. But I might just be overly sensitive, I will be watching what they do with Anthem with a lot of interest though.

But I might just be overly sensitive, I will be watching what they do with Anthem with a lot of interest though. Schreier offered a rather radical version which I don't think will happen - nevermind that 'influencing what the game becomes over time' doesn't necessarily means determining its storyline, especially where it matters. But when people like a romance and think 'we feel like content for this romance is a little thin - can we get a scene where PC and LI hug?' the devs can respond to that without having to think how to cram it in a DLC released 3 or 6 months or a year after release... I mean, why not? Or 'we think this trial or challenge would be cool' or 'can we get a mid-length classic dungeon' and they can just... do that and thus provide a steady stream of content for a few years? I like DAI's DLCs but I don't think people would object to having something to do or look forward to during content/story drought...

I like DAI's DLCs but I don't think people would object to having something to do or look forward to during content/story drought... Just spitballing here, but if it's anything like what EA implements for the Sims franchise, you could get anything from a pack of cosmetic items to large upgrades to gameplay for free. There's still a ton of additional incrementally designed & priced paid DLC, but the basegame has all the main important features and gets regularly upgraded. TS4 was released around the same time as DA:I in 2014 and will probably be getting content for at least 2 or 3 more years. I always thought it was a waste that Bioware stopped developing for DA:I because I would have bought pretty much anything they put out to expand the world, and even cosmetic stuff if they made some non-weird armors or unlocked the NPC outfits to use for role-play purposes. Yeah, TS4 is a radically different kind of game, but it's also obscenely successful for a non-sports non-combat game, and has a huge female fanbase (something that DA also has). I wouldn't be surprised if EA is trying to iterate some of that success into their other franchises using similar types of DLC scaling (i.e. both free and paid, with there potentially being free stuff that includes significant improvements other than bugfixes, like the wardrobe and the Golden Nug that were added to DA:I late in development). It could be anything from a new adventuring area, to cosmetics, to adding full-blown romance options to existing NPCs that end up being popular, like say, Lace Harding. I think it would be cool too, if there were an paid DLC that was just for the PC and their LI or BFF with additional romance content and/or emotional payoff. Say some sort of Murder in Venice plot set in Antiva with a couple of cute cutscenes, dedicated creepy NPCs and a brief mystery to solve that doesn't involve having your mother fridged.
