The Qunari conquered Par Vollen and then Seheron in Steel Age, the Fex probably face similar issues the Fog Warriors do in Seheron.
The difference being that we know about the Fog Warriors both from Fenris in DA2 and World of Thedas. The latter also mentioned about a civilisation that pre-dated the Qunari on Par Vollen. However, in both these cases they are just a different grouping of humans.
Plot twist - the Fog Warriors are the Fex!

I don't remember the race of the Fog Warriors being ever mentioned, so it's possible the Fog Warriors are also Fex. Why BW didn't show any info about them yet, -we don't know, but they didn't bother all these years to say they don't exist. It's possible that they were turned into a different race, or BW keeps them a secret to reveal in DA4 as part of the Qunari/Tevinter war. Would be awesome if we could be Fex too in the next game.

The Fog Warriors are not a different race; they are the native human inhabitants of Seheron with their own distinct culture. They have been around since the time of the elves, so are an offshoot of the Neromenians, which makes sense seeing as this group of humans arrived first in Par Vollen and spread from there. They have resisted both Tevinter and Qunari occupation and have their own distinct brand of magic that produces the fog that gives them their name. Their seers are known as Fog Dancers and seem to occupy the same position as Keepers do among the Dalish, maintaining the traditions and religion of their people as well as performing magic. (See codex in DA2 DLC Mark of the Assassin and also page 86 of World of Thedas). There is no mention anywhere of them being anything other than human.
Sanshee @teamsanshee Heads-up folks, we just updated our inventory, so a bunch of shirts are in stock again. Also, if you're eyeing a Commander Cullen Plush, I'd get one soon, because they're running low and once they're out you probably won't see them again for a while.

I know Fog Warriors aren't a race, what i meant is they could be a group started by and composed of Fex. Nowhere does it outline their race, that they're Neromenians is also a theory, unless i missed something.
Patrick Weekes @patrickweekes More meetings! Feeling incredibly grateful to @eplerjc for amazing support as narrative director, and also to the writers and editors for the work they’ve done, especially when it involves calling out places where the lead writer was REAL dumb.

Well Brother Ashor Vell is one of them as he speaks of Seheron as his homeland. Presumably he is a refugee who joined the southern Chantry, given his title, although I suppose "Brother" could be some sort of status identification among the Seheron natives as well. Anyway his book is among Chantry approved reading which suggests to me that he is human at the very least.

John Epler @eplerjc A week of fantastic conversations and meetings with @patrickweekes and the rest of the writing and editing teams. There are weeks of work that are exhausting and draining, and weeks that are exhausting and heartening.
I am very lucky to work with such amazing people. Not just writing and editing, but folks like daniel_Kading as our Design Director, who has almost assuredly forgotten more about design than I will ever know.
Our games would not be what they are without the incredible editing ability of folks like @genevrael, @karinweekes and @el_cormier, even if Ryan mostly just uses Twitter to get angry about the Oilers.
And our writing team. People like @sherylchee , or @bbattye , or @sylvf1 , or @courtneywoods, or @biomarykirby, or @jaywatamaniuk - and others who are not on Twitter. They tell amazing stories and build incredible characters. I am very, very lucky that I get to work with them.
Anyways. My job is made infinitely easier by the fact that everyone I work with is vastly more talented than I am, and I succeed by being 'pretty okay' at a wide spread of things.
Patrick Weekes @patrickweekes We call this week Writer Voltron: writers and editors figuring out big stuff as a team. Thanks to @sylvf1 @el_cormier @sherylchee @bbattye @eplerjc @genevrael @karinweekes @courtneywoods, plus Luke and Dombrow. Exhausting but heartening, as Epler said.❤️

If writers are only just now figuring out 'big stuff', that does not fill me with confidence for a September/October 2020 release of DA4.
Still "stuff"

Yea, but aren't Bioware writers now involved during most of the production? I don't necessarily think that means they're actively writing the whole game, but perhaps this means sewing this thing together to form a cohesive whole (Epler is a Narrative Director responsible for that, after all), which I think would be something warranting what appears to be a pretty big meeting...

Patrick Weekes @patrickweekes After @el_cormier tries to explain Paw Patrol to @sherylchee for AWHILE, it is revealed that just misheard him and thought he said “Papa Troll”.

Since the only par vollen natives mentioned in the world of thedas are the humans with their large ruined cities and their pyramids, the fex might have been scraped.
Or perhaps the carvings of horned figures in the par vallen natives temples that seems to have led to them embracing the qunari rather than resisting them are actually depictions of the fex who've long since disappeared.

The latest rumor was pointing towards a Fall 2021 release, and that sounds about right, especially after Anthem was delayed.
So...just under three years...? Ugh.
I hope I like Anthem and Cyberpunk 2077.
Ooh! I haven't played Odyssey yet!

David Gaider @davidgaider Right there with you, man.

Huh. Does that imply that Mary is back on Dragon Age after completing Anthem (hooray!!!) and that Jay Watamaniuk is now in their team too?
If so, that looks like a really neat Writer's Pit. (Obviously +Patrick Weekes. And I hope Lukas Kristjanson is back as well, but he's one of the ones not on Twitter AFAIK.)

Odyssey is good! You should definitely give it a try!
Oh I definitely will be. I was just reminded recently - by Shadow of the Tomb Raider - of why I have my rule about non-Dragon Age games and waiting - nearly - a year before buying them. But it has enough love around here for me to be confident that I'll like it. I'm just currently enjoying my first modded DAO play through.
*hangs PC gamer head in shame*
Weirdly - the mod I am enjoying the most?...the arial font that makes the games text readable in 4K without having to peer at the screen like a 75 year old wondering what the hell a gif is.

I haven't heard anything official yet, but we'll certainly keep an eye out. He might have just been talking about the BW writing team in general (as John is on both projects).

I think I have to re-think my mod strategy for my next DAO run, because I keep getting hilarious glitches due to some mod conflicts I can't quite figure out - in mage origin Jowan has no head (uh... am I still in the Fade?) and when I try to play Dalish origin Merril shows up and does everything butt-naked.
...Needless to say, it's a bit too much for mah immersion.

Jowan being headless would likely solve a lot of problems for the people of Ferelden.
Merril being naked....I....got nothing.

Commentary about blood mages cutting themselves and dancing naked in the moonlight comes to mind.
