If you happen to have a note-taking app that can be opened in both a smartphone and PC, it's as easy to make a habit out of opening it and typing anything that sounds even vaguely useful I have a little dinky app on my phone that I use, but the problem is that I end up having ten thousand notes that have, like.... four names on them. Or my grocery list. I need to be more organized. I *probably* already have my first two humans named...at least. Thinking ahead! The only trouble I find with coming up with names now is we don't know the surnames yet, so I don't know what'll sound good. that is one of the "subject to change" bits.

Or my grocery list. I need to be more organized. I am one of those weird people who are usually quite disorganized and chill about some level of chaos... but at the same time I am bizarrely OCDish about some other things Mostly my notes, files and stuff in my computer (my desktop is *pristine* - not a single icon on it) - even if there’s occasional disorder, I will ultimately take care of it... If only I could be as diligent about some other things :/ In my case... I haven’t started thinking about anything yet. I may have to wait and see what the story is about. It’s not uncommon for me to play a new game with a few ‘default’ ‘placeholders’ (I have a few of those as well, in case I don’t know what to start with) and I catch a theme or personality for an actual character while playing the game... and sometimes things crystallize only after a few playthrougs; once I’m more familiar with storyline and NPCs. Heck, most of my Inquisitors’ stories aren’t set in stone yet, because I’m waiting to see if and how much they’ll be involved in the events in future game(s?).

Brianne Battye @bbattyeNaming characters: In which I instantly know what to call someone and it's perfect OR In which I spend too much time aimlessly scrolling through baby-name websites for "yeah, I guess that works." #amwriting Tis sooooooooooo true. Double the trouble when you're playing MMO and your character's name has to be unique

I never name a character until I've seen the CC, once I've got an image in my head a name can pop in instantly (I also make up completely unique names & not anything traditional)
Just me.

I'm mostly the latter, to be honest. Same. When I ran tabletop games, there were a bunch of name sites I leaned heavily on for filler names... Same. It's a knack that I don't have and I'm envious of the writers and GM's that seem to pick the perfect name out of thin air. For CRPG character names, for a long time I got by with "Fem Mage" and "Elf Assassin" (lovingly abbreviated to Elf'ass), but that got old pretty quick. So now I agonize over character names picked from novels until I find one I like.

Clearly Green Ronin had the right idea when they decided to target Dragon Age players. Not only are we all tabletop players, we’re all the one specific tabletop player who decides on what system the group is going to play.

She is still with EA Motive in Montreal since BioWare Montreal was closed, so it's *unlikely* that she is writing for Dragon Age. I think she posted this because she, herself, is a fan of Dragon Age.

It's not impossible for her to work on DA though. Motive is still part of EA and for all we know it may be BW Montreal, just under a different name (or act the way BW Montreal did in a sense that they may more or less fill its role when it's needed).

I think I'm a bit different, in that I don't even open the CC without having a name, look and personality ready in my head. (that's probably why it takes me max 30mins to create a chara) For most games I just use OCs I created in 2006 for a fic I never wrote. (I wrote a prologue, but never continued) Instead of throwing the charas away, I just use them in games when they have a CC. Example: Kita DAO: SWTOR: ESO: (she looks the most how I imagine her in ESO tbh)

Patrick Weekes @patrickweekes Working on a short story. Gosh, I love writing liars. ... This will come as something less than a complete shock to a few of you.
Dumped, Drunk, and Dalish 🐺 ⬆️ @drunkdalish You really do write wonderful liars. DAMMIT.
Don't say it Don't say it Don't say it Don't say it Don't say it Don't say it Don't say it
Nothing personal, bas.
Julie Richard @poohzhunny 🙁☹️😣😖😫😩😭😭
Patrick Weekes @patrickweekes Oof, somebody’s still sad from their bas battle.
Dumped, Drunk, and Dalish 🐺 ⬆️ @drunkdalish I'm actually torn on how to respond on this because it was so devastating but so flawlessly conceived. I love that we told him to stay loyal to the Qun... and he did. And then we paid for that arrogance (and so did he). It's like a bomb that took two years to detonate.
Patrick Weekes @patrickweekes Folks ask for choices with significant lasting consequences, and I do my best to make that happen, and then people get mad. So confusing!
(But yes, not a lever we pull too often, because that’s not really what most players WANT from a game. DAII has followers who could turn against you. Mass Effect didn’t — at least not as far as actually fighting you. Tali and Mordin showed their disagreement less directly...)
Wait, I guess in ME3, you could have had to fight Jack and Morinth! Both were pretty Easter-eggy, and neither was doing it voluntarily out of direct disagreement with your decisions, but they were in there.

I had some bleak test playthroughs.

Anyone else insanely curious about this short story he mentioned? It may as well be something unrelated to anything from DA. We know that Weekes is a prolific writer and IRC he writes a lot of own stories, even if for the sake of practice.
