My first thoughts are will I enjoy the game?
Puzzles are a waste of time and slows pacing. Game mechanics to gather 3 x resource of something is unfun. Laborious crafting mechanics is unfun. Poor inventory management is to be expected from Bio games. Maximum number of 50 carry items is so stupid. Carry weight should be dropped. Exploring with purpose is fun. Questing to move forward the main story arc is meaningful. Good banter is fun. A speedrun is an acceptable personal challenge and very satisfying. The necessity of carrying food supplies is an unwanted mechanic. Fast travel method is good.
Romance? Romance is a sideline quest. Everything else is filler.

Memes aside, puzzles can really be fun if done well, are inventive/imaginative, don't go on for too long, and the rewards are worth it. Towers of Hanoi can burn but other types of puzzles and riddles I welcome as an interesting non-combat way of solving problems.

I do like the reference to 'bioware games' being their own genre because I have largely been feeling this way and I think even making that claim for years now...BioWare still offers an experience pretty unique to gaming in my regards that is hard for anyone to emulate so far and even across mediumms. A focus on a wide and diverse group of characters, humor which does not take itself too seriously but also dealing with darker themes of war and death, a grand swashbuckling adventure but it also doesen't mind taking time out of its day to explore deeper issues. Perhaps oddly and maybe controversially only other game which has come close to scratching this itch was Assassins Creed Odyssey. Even Vahalla didn't have that same feel to it. It's funny because I remember the days when Bioware's popularity was at its peak and the classic big brain criticism of their games was that they all followed a standard 'Bioware formula'. No developer in my view has been able to copy this formula and I really wish someone would. I can't wait all day for Bioware to get their shit together frankly.

Maciej Kurowski seems to have limited understanding of DA mages if he thinks they're smart. Sure some of them may be, but it's not a defining characteristic. They are born with the ability to do magic, but everything else points to them being standard humans with the standard range of intellects.

In his defence, the Circle mages (and Templars) generally get more book learnin’ than your average dirt-covered peasant in Thedas. That said, Maciej clearly subscribes to the old “fighters dumb, wizards smart” school of thought.

The Waylanders was definitely aiming for the feel of a BioWare game, particularly DAO, but failed to deliver unfortunately. Granted it's an indie game. I can get sort of partial BioWare feelings from a variety of games (CDPR, Bethesda, Obsidian, Life is Strange, Telltale Games) but none of them capture the full experience. Maybe The Witcher comes closest but with a set protagonist it still doesn't feel the same.

IDK if there's any traces of the Bioware style in Pathfinder: Wrath of the righteous. But certainly there was no game since DAI drop, that caught my attention so much. I feel like I'll be around my fifth playthrough by the time DA4 drop.
Ps: Outerworlds gave me a Bioware feeling as well. Makes sense Obsidian is holding part of their torch nowadays.

While this may sound a bit contradictory to my previous statement and maybe it is and maybe it really is to the whole point I was bringing up earlier I do wonder if anyone can truly imitate fully the BioWare formula. That maybe all companies honestly have their unique genres. Yes, some games and companies have come closer then others to scratching that itch and yes I wish someone would come closer to that itch then not because BioWare may not be around for ever...but on the other hand it all seems to come down to give and take. BioWare was clearly influenced by other games lately like namely and most dramatically Skyrim, more open maps and larger games and more emphasis on exploration and even some UI choices clearly came from that game...but they still didn't lose their uniqueness. And BioWare has influenced others to because we see echos of that BioWare formula in more and more RPGs these days. Just each company tends to have different focuses which gives them their own uniqueness.
Bethesda-Focuses on pure exploration and faffing about a world with a paper thin story explanation to go out into that world. Ubisoft- Focuses on exploration but ocassionally you get a strong story and even strong RP mechanics. Horizon- Focuses on the whole thrill of battling giant machines and the philosophical implications from that, how this world came to be. Witcher- Focuses on dark themes exploring human nature and that 'we are the monsters'.
Yet each of these games has admitted to or shown clear signs of growing more BioWare like at times. Assassins Creed did a full mini reboot and added RP mechanics to the games which lets you flesh out your character's personality. While Horizon has added companion characters while not as deep as Bio's you still get to take out on missions and stuff.

Since I have become old and lazy in my gaming i no longer like puzzles. In my younger days I'd like them more.
I think i did a couple of the easier asterarium things in dai but then skipped the rest.
In mass effect i always had to save up my omingel so i could pay 100 omingel to skip that one puzzle at the elevator.

I like puzzles as long as they make sense. Easy to figure out but hard (not impossible) to solve is fine. My weakness is music puzzles because I'm basically tone deaf - all the notes sound alike to me.

Omg, I really want this pillow Pity that the shipping is probably gonna be as expensive as the pillow Some creators who have recently been made BioWare Gear Store Ambassadors have started getting codes for the BioWare Gear Store that will get you 20% off your order (not the shipping, though, obviously, but still, a 20% discount is a 20% discount). They have been tweeting the codes but I'm not sure if it's okay to post them here as the creators do get a bit of a kickback from anyone using their codes.

The thing about puzzles is that they're either too easy or ridiculously hard. RPGs gotta find a happy medium somewhere.

I like the puzzles, until I hate the puzzles?
They have a charm, and they reek of BioWare. If overused or ridiculous (DAI had some really bad puzzles) they become a nuisance.
Keep em in. Refine em. Riddle games are fun too, for me, and make sense in many fantasy scenarios.
Look, I have your fodder.
