I would love a late 2023 release date announcement, but at this point it'd be a surprise, and I'd even be a little concerned that they're only squeezing out a product to fit a time, rather than preparing it for the right time. I will operate as if its an early 2024 release date because that makes my coping easier haha. But I can brace for late 2024. 2025 sounds madness. a decade since the last DA game content (Trespasser) haha. Unfortunately we can be pretty confident it won't be late 2023 or early 2024 because it was not shown in this fiscal year at the last EA investor call. So the earliest would be April 2024 and Jeff Grubb has said Summer 2024. A lot of fans are preparing for November 2024 to coincide with the 10 year anniversary of DAI.

So, lads... GDL hasn't done a lot of signings or DA related publicity in general, I understand? Is it too tin-foily to ponder why he's doing it all of a sudden and for Egg-Head pictures too? (Also Ianto Jones ) Or perhaps I just haven't taken notice of these signings since I've never understood the general point of getting someone's autograph...

This may be worth mentioning -- the official Dragon Age Cookbook (which in Dec 2022 had a placeholder date of Dec 2023) has been updated to a release date of October 17th 2023 on multiple retail outlets, including Target, Amazon, and more. This may be entirely coincidental to the eclipse that is covering North America October 14th 2023, but it's still interesting to note.

So, lads... GDL hasn't done a lot of signings or DA related publicity in general, I understand? It is possible that someone at Bioware suggested it might be helpful if he raised his profile a little with regard to Solas. After all, previously he was just one of several companions, whereas now the game is actually named after his alter ego. However, as you noticed, he hasn't just focused on Solas but also Ianto, the other iconic character he is famous for, so may be work has been a bit sparse and he just thought his profile needed a bit of a boost. To be honest, outside of the gaming world, Solas isn't that well known but Ianto, he's big. There is even a Wall of Ianto, or Ianto's Shrine, in Cardiff that honours him and the owners of the wall even put up a memorial plaque dedicated to him. So, I imagine there may be just as many, if not more, Ianto fans getting his autograph. Unlike Solas, Ianto was a 100% honest to goodness hero.

There’s currently a conversation going on on gamedev twitter, and Patrick tweeted some insightfulness (sorry for the poor editing/structure, I’m on mobile):
Patrick Weekes I was lucky in retrospect to get to be part of Mass Effect 1-3 (2007, 2010, 2012) and then over to Dragon Age: Inquisition (2014).
It is 2023, and I haven’t shipped anything since DLC in 2015. I love what I’m working on, and the steady paycheck is there, but. But.

Yeah I've thought about this in the past because I was pretty sure Patrick Weekes (among others) didn't work on MEA or Anthem, so that's a hell of a long time working on a project without anyone getting to see your work. It must be really frustrating. On the flip side, hopefully it means Dreadwolf's writing is super well polished, although possible a lot has had to change with the different reboots.

At least...they are loving what they are working on. Indeed. A lot of the conversation is about burnout and being trapped. They need to move on for their mental health. But they can't put an NDA project on their resumes. So, they really need to get the project completed so they can advance in their careers. And none of these long dev cycles are about preventing crunch. If fact, it often prolongs crunch time.

And indeed right now with the all hands on deck montra they are definitley within crunch time one way or another. Lets just hope with the time they have been given and with the above Tweet that its a well managed crunch time and no burn out happens.

This isn't a tweet or from Bioware, but I think I found the Dreadwolf. And he's in Final Fantasy: And you can ride him, apparently. Though I guess you could do THAT in Inquisition, too. Far as I know, there is no in-universe justification for a wolf with eight eyes. My suspicion that there are DA fans on the FF14 dev team continues to rise. Or maybe they just like Matt Rhodes' art. Either way, tada!

Either way, tada! That's a boss in the Shadowbringers raid series and there is lore behind it, it's called the Shadowkeeper. It's also a very bad move imo of putting boss mounts on the store. There already is an Alexander raid boss mount that is only on the store and both that one and this one are overpriced. There are actual Hungry Dreadwolf mobs in the game though, if you do a certain levequest in Northern Thanalan, you're going to see a lot of them.

Been so long since I maxed Dragoon I actually forgot those were the achievements I remember the Hungry Dreadwolves because I see them periodically when doing my ARR relic weapons.

I still need to max my Dragoon, but I want to get done with my tanks & healers first, so I can relax as a dps. I always have to smile when I go the Limsa mender to repair my gear.

Yeah, I thought I'd seen the model before. lol And I know the mouths are kinda reminiscent of the first boss in ShB's final dungeon, but the painted on eyes are just so similar to the Dreadwolf mural it sticks out. The "dreadwolf"s in those leves though are just the direwolf/jackal/rabid dog models, though, I think? Been a while since I ran leves in Bluefrog. I made it a point to do each leve once, as if they were a full quest, and mostly haven't touched them since. lol Like, I have dealt with the Necrologos more than enough for one lifetime. I have a 90 DRG, but I did not know the sharlayan lampost had that description. lol Gotta love the localization team. Not to mention the parallels between Solas and Solus. Girl, you know we could write a full essay on that. This all does indicate its not just the english speaking localization team that's the DA fans, but someone from Japan, perhaps even on the writing team. Do we know how well the DA series did in Japan? I get the impression that western RPGs have not been super popular in that market the past 20 years or so, with maybe Skyrim being an exception. But maybe DA is one too?

Gynedroid @gynedroid Ok Dragon Age community: who is the finest liar?
1. Varric 2. Solas 3. The Iron Bull 4. Impossible Choice
Patrick Weekes @patrickweekes With no canon intended, I would go with Bull. Varric is great at business lies or clean-conscience lies, but I think Bull has the edge in emotional compartmentalization and holding a cover.
Update: I have been informed that some of you were voting based on a much different interpretation of "FINEST" than I was using, and this explains a lot. 🤣

I'd say Solas excells at lying by omission rather than straight-out lies. In comparison Bull is able to completely dissimulate, even to the point of faking a true romantic attachment to the inquisitor or Dorian if he remains loyal to the Qun (Solas never really was able to lie about his romantic attachment).
So yeah, my vote goes to Bull.

(Solas never really was able to lie about his romantic attachment). Although he did omit an important piece of information that he ought to have told Lavellan before she got romantically involved. I have to admit he was brutally honest when she points that out in Trespasser. No beating about the bush there, it takes two to Tango honey, and I suppose, to be fair, she did initiate that first (Fade) kiss. Bull, though has lying in his job description, that's why he got it because they knew he was so good at it. Hissrad is a consummate liar.

I feel like Blackwall deserves to be in the poll. Not because he's any good at lying, really, but because the sheer chutzpah of claiming to be a senior Grey Warden and then miraculously getting away with it until he turns himself in needs recognition. If you don't befriend him and make him feel bad about it quickly enough, he sustains this charade for literal years! And still doesn't get rumbled until he admits his crime!
