How does Qunari sexuality work? I want to know. My best guess is that the sexuality under the Qun is not an issue, as long as it does not interfere with their breeding program. Qunari may be free to engage in whatever relationships they wish, with members of the same sex, but the Qun may demand that they partake in heterosexual intercourse on occasion, solely for the purposes of reproduction.
It may permissible to have recreational sex with members of another race, but it seems unlikely that interspecies reproduction is allowed. Bull suggests that the Tamassrans are trying to use eugenics to try to create the "perfect" Qunari, but it seems to be more about improving each race individually, rather than trying to create hybrids. Their reason for not creating hybrid species may be linked to their potential origin as one, if comments made by Bull, OG!Kieran and Corypheus' are to be believed, that their "blood is not their own"?

That I get, but thinking 'bout the biological aspect. Are all qunari bisexual, or rather, sexual. The concept of it's a woman's job to please men, and breeding is important, makes me think that heterosexuality is a thing, as we'd explain it. Do qunari who are only interested in the same sex exist, outside and inside the Qun? I guess Qunari sexuality is more simple or more complex than how we understand sexuality.

I think it's complicated and all tied up in how Qunari see gender. I would imagine there are Tamassrans with male genitalia, who are considered women by Qunari society insofar as they raise children, assign roles, and provide sexual relief. Whether they would actually consider themselves transgender as WE understand it, I don't know. I don't think they would necessarily use terms like hetero/bi/pan/homosexual to describe themselves, but that doesn't mean that's not how they feel, if that makes sense? I think Sifr's got it right that it's probably considered acceptable to have a preference for what kind of Tama to, erm, recreationally pop your cork with, but Qunari are still expected to drop trou and make babies when the Qun demands it.

Now it's just another layer of '' what the hell '' that IF there was a male qunari, who was deemed to be fitting of the tamassaran role, and then would be seen as a woman, would a qunari man who exclusively likes the same sex, be interested in a tamassaran with a male body? I agree that Qunari probably doesn't have the concept of sexuality as we do, and don't have labels for them, but is it still part of their biological design that some people exclusively prefer women or men? We know they don't engage in romantic relationships like humans do, and that's another aspect that muddles this whole discussion of sexuality. Maybe qunari society have biological women and men, and then social women and men, and they experience attraction on those two levels, social and biological.

What? He's just, um. Painting that boring beige wall a lovely scarlet. IT's interesting to me how the Qun is supposedly blind to race, yet the two assassins sent to die as just a message to Iron Bull were human, and so it this dead human in Qunari war outfit. I suppose a Qunari presenting as Tal Vashoth wouldn't likely have infiltrated the guard at Skyhold. But it still seems completely...cold that they would send two people to die as a message- a formality. The Qun has always seemed more attached to their people than all that. Choosing to make zombies or attempt brainwashing instead of execution. Only to throw away two converts like bathroom tissue.

But it still seems completely...cold that they would send two people to die as a message- a formality. The Qun has always seemed more attached to their people than all that. In DA2, the Arishok was willing to sacrifice the three Qunari sent to guard the "Gaatlok" formula, as this was enough to impart a false sense of worth for any would-be thieves. The Qunari are perfectly willing to sacrifice individual lives if it means serving a greater goal or can be used to send a message.
Either the assassins would outright kill Bull, he'd be left fatally poisoned and die shortly afterwards, or he'd survive their blades and poison, but spend the rest of his life as a Tal-Vashoth. All eventualities leave him dead at the hands of his people, or alive, knowing he's dead to his people... meaning that the Qunari "win", whatever way you look at it.
As for the Qunari assassins, they'd either escape alive, or else be killed during the attempt or escape. All eventualities lead to them accomplishing their mission and even those that result in their deaths were acceptable, because they'd have given their lives in service to the Qun. They were willing to make these kinds of sacrifices, as any real Qunari would, unlike Bull when he refused to sacrifice the Chargers.

The Qunari are perfectly willing to sacrifice individual lives if it means serving a greater goal or can be used to send a message. I had forgotten that and I hadn't much viewed it that way. They had real gaat lok somewhere, right? and the guards being there was to prevent them from stealing the real stuff? hmmmm. *goes to watch the video on youtube* *thinks about it in relation to the information we learn about Gaat Lok in Trespasser* I conclude that what the Arishok did made no sense in light of the new information in Trespasser. -The arishok had no gaat lok himself, their boats sank. Any copies of a recipe likely went with it. - therefore they made a recipe from memory for sar kaamek, only to put it somewhere, guarded it to make people think it was gaat lok... To what end? - They can't make Gaat Lok without controlled access to a dragon so it's inherently safe by association This whole mission is nonsense because it's existence is nonsense in a world where Gaat Lok requires live Dragons. The writers must not have decided how Gaat Lok was made by this point. This whole quest is ruined for me now I'd like to throw it into the fire with the Three Mages Rule, please.

Can we have a Qunari companion that has no tendency to fight/betray the protagonist? They already did that so I doubt they would do it again.
I like surprises like that in games from time to time. Especially in your first play through, your first romance option and to get a surprise later on in Trespasser. I made it a point that my Inky dealt the killing blow to Bull. She was betrayed felt betrayed just like the person who was controlling her actions.

If the Arishok didn't have any Gaatlok and no way to make it (which would explain his irritation at people constantly asking for it), maybe the test was only to see how far the thieves would go to in trying to steal it? Either the guards would dissuade the thieves, the guards would kill the thieves and end the problem, or they'd successfully steal the "Gaatlok", but die or be driven mad if they tried to make it. It only failed because the Arishok didn't realise until far too late that the thieves may try to mass produce it. His warning was no so much to save the people of Kirkwall, as it was to save face and prevent expulsion from the city with their mission incomplete. By warning everyone, he made it clear that the use of stolen Saar-qamek was not the Qunari's doing and that he was trying to help avert disaster by warning the Viscount. And the Qunari could use the theft to score points politically, by using the incident as "proof" of the hostility they've received from the people of Kirkwall, despite the Qunari having done nothing (overtly) hostile in the the four years they've been in the city. By the way, does Gaatlok requires live Dragons to make? I thought maybe the Viddasala had been experimenting with amplifying Gaatlok's explosive properties by adding ingredients harvested from the Dragon?

Please, debunk these myths because I didn't play DAO, haven't read the comics and DA2 I just kinda breezed through.

I'm a loser who prefers speedy action nonsense. I don't think they'll make a straight female qunari. It's definitely going to be a straight female elf. It's also time for a gay male elf I'm just saying.

I don't mind betrayals as a whole. But its getting predictable for Qunari companions. There is a reason for that. If they are truly Qunari companions then the potential is always going to be there for betrayal because their loyalty first and foremost is to the Qun. However, as we have discovered, a Tal-Vashoth is more likely to be loyal to us, particularly if we have liberated them from the Qun. I thought it was rather sad in the Trespasser epilogue that apparently genuine Tal-Vashoth suffered as a result of the betrayal of the pretend Tal-Vashoth Bull.

It would be interesting to see another Petrice-like character in DA4. π€ A shady little instigator who uses the Chantry as a thin excuse to go after the Qunari. I mean, there haven't been any gay male dwarves or elves but I'm still fairly certain they exist. Well, I'm a loser too then π because I prefer slightly more amped up combat than DAO offers, even if I do really like the story and characters (mostly Zevran and Morrigan and STEN, my stoic son). I don't know if they break it down quite like that, but since DAI gave us a straight male elf and a lesbian female elf, and we have bisexual Zevran, Fenris, and Merrill (and Tallis I guess lol), I wouldn't be surprised to see either of those eventually.

Yeah we are losers. Hell yeah. I'd play DAO just for dwarven x elven homoeroticism (you can romance Zevran as a dwarf, no?) but other than that, not really interested, ESPECIALLY since wardens are like one of my least favorite factions. None of the characters REALLY speak to me. I would love to be Sten's little plaything but.. ya know, maybe in DA4!? I know I'm fixated on patterns, but I think looking back at what you've offered and try something new is... a smart thing to do? But alas I don't think that's how the team will hand out labels in the end lol. I honestly just want non-human gay men for DA4.

Well. If this is true, with him being okay with the outcome that 3 qunari would senselessly die...and then the 1-10 thieves who managed to make it would also die... Than the Arishok is not who I think he is in a bad way. So I'm left unhappy with either option. Thanks for trying to manage it into less nonsense for me though.

Yeah we are losers. Hell yeah. Couple of thirsty-for-qunari losers. We should start a club! Oh wait... Tbh idgaf about the Grey Wardens either. Never have. If it helps, Sten calls you kadan and Zevran's kiss with a dwarf is especially sweet. But there's always YouTube if you can't bring yourself to slog through the game. I'm fixated on patterns too, so I don't blame you for that. π There's a reason I keep pushing for a hardcore Tal-Vashoth to balance out all these Qunari! I hope you get your non-human gay man (or multiple non-human gay men!) for DA4.

You sure can. Personally, he doesn't do anything for me. But you can definitely romance him as a dwarf. Male Aeducan/Brosca with Zevran and male Adaar/Cadash are the m/m non-human pairings. Definitely want to see the option for more in DA4. I'm with you. In general, I'm down for joining this little club. My canon Inquisitor is an Adaar. And I've romanced Bull with 2 out of 4 playthroughs. I'm definitely expecting/hoping to learn a ton more about qunari culture in the next game. Think we'll get to see Par Vollen at all? Or will Seheron be the closest we get?

I don't knooow, I've been thinking about this a lot! π± Tevinter's a given. We've had THREE companions with backstories tied to Seheron (Sten, Fenris, Bull) and there was that concept art of what looked an awful lot like Fog Warriors. I strongly suspect that it'll play a part in DA4, perhaps as the location of a whole huge subplot..? I'm game for that. Par Vollen I have my doubts about actually seeing by the next game, but Qunandar sounds incredible and I would love to visit it. "Beehive" architecture! Pyramids in the jungle! Qunari EVERYWHERE, so finally the humans feel small and out-of-place. (jk but really tho)

Qunari are so rad. Well, raddest of the four races. I'm hoping at least the male qunari will look more like DA2/concept art qunari. I want to look like a monster. If I can't be a monster, let me at least look vaguely like one please please. Sten definitely sounds right up my alley honestly, but I'm through with men who I can't have! I've suffered for long enough ;_; I've watched through the Zevran romance a couple of times, never with a male dwarf romancing him though. I just am REALLY excited about the whole male elf x male dwarf aspect of it. Like what can be cuter? Well whatever happens, I just want a good gay romance, that's at least on par with what Jaal had to offer in ME:A. Plot relevancy, sweet romance. I wouldn't mind some drama and chaos, as long as it's all worth it in the end. Yeah we are losers. Hell yeah. I'd play DAO just for dwarven x elven homoeroticism (you can romance Zevran as a dwarf, no?) but other than that, not really interested, ESPECIALLY since wardens are like one of my least favorite factions. Zevran does absolutely nothing, NOTHING for me. I don't think he is particularly attractive and I don't think his romance is particularly good. But I do enjoy getting to do some dwarf x elf homoeroticism. That's the only plus side none of the other games have. Non-human gay pairings are GREAT! My canon Inquisitor is my beautiful Adaar as well, well, at least until DA4 comes and we see how badly the game treats my Inquisitor. Every PC has a chance to die, I suspect the Inquisitor to be no different. More Qunari anything, really. Honestly right now, I only really care for Tevinter stuff and Qunari stuff in DA4. I suspect Seheron will play a role in DA4, because it's really the culmination of Tevinter vs Qun, but I see Par Vollen being DA5 material. But damn do I want to go to Par Vollen. I want all things Qun right now, the good, the bad, the ugly...

I don't hate elves I mean I do but I don't want to sound like a total ass but tbh, I'm pretty sick of them. Par Vollen is my dream. only elf I like in DAI is Sera
