Astro Bot Dev Won’t Chase Hyper-Realism Like Other PlayStation Studios www.playstationlifestyle.net/2024/09/06/astro-bot-dev-team-asobi-on-playstation-studios/This is such a good mindset to have that I’m worried PlayStation will trying axing his studio. The PS2 era had the right combination of arcade fun and meaningful story telling. Unfortunately, from the PS3 era on, the mindset of PlayStation was making cinematic, movie games with over-bloated budgets like Hollywood, which got worse when they moved to California. Hell, it got to the point where self proclaimed geniuses like Neil Druckmann was condemning having fun. Hopefully, after the failure of the GaaS push, PlayStation can start focusing on smaller studios making smaller games.

Hogwarts Legacy outsold COD and they decided to put in the backburner chasing live service games?! At least they came to their senses lol.

Except that Hogwarts' Legacy was a risk considering that it's a single player Harry Potter game that doesn't involve the titular characters.

Astro Bot is only one game. They need to go back to their catalogue of games and revive some franchises. How about Super Monkey Ball?

This is the live service game that Sony COULD be making instead of a bland hero shooter like Concord: Why couldn't they revive this franchise?

$700 with no disc drive. Wait, that’s wrong. There is a disk drive but it is sold separately and will cost $80. Greedy Sony is back.

$700 with no disc drive. Wait, that’s wrong. There is a disk drive but it is sold separately and will cost $80. Greedy Sony is back. There BETTER be a drive available. No physical media = no true ownership of the copy of the game you bought = not buying it.
Only games I'll get without a physical copy are server based multiplayer games such as destiny and ESO, and "disposable" games that cost less than 2 pints of beer. The former aren't really bought in the first place, you're really just renting the use of the server thats running it. The latter can be classed as just an evenings entertainment if the seller tries to fuck you over later.
The lack of an unambiguous mention of a disk drive accessory is concerning.

Keighley is being an apologist again.
The PS3 looks outrageous but keep in mind it had backwards compatibility for PS1-PS2, a Blu-Ray player, DVD Player, PSN was free and the PS3 had dozens of console exclusives by its midlife.
Now compare all that to the PS5 Pro or even the PS5 in general.
This is disgusting….

The Dewrito Pope is at it again, trying to razzle dazzle normies with bullshit. Don't forget to add that you didn't have to purchase the PS3's disc drive separately.

It's all good for Geoff. This comes out just in time for him to shill it up during his annual Advertisement show featuring the game awards. Which I'm still convinced is just to try to hang out with Kojima.

www.playstationlifestyle.net/2024/09/12/concord-ps5-completely-erased-from-players-consoles/Nothingburger? To answer the bolded, The problem is that without each individual consumer's input (Keyword, input) Sony unilaterally nuked Concord from people's hard drives, and refunded the game. Yeah the game looked like Van Gogh had vomited all of his pastel colors on a canvas then pissed on it, but I only see Sony's handling of Concord as setting a precedent going forward.

It’s gaslighting by scumbag journalists and the industry as a whole. It’s why we are expected to tolerate more anti-customer practices like buggy releases, day one patches, always online single player, surveillance by law enforcement connected AI, costly subscription based models, digital only releases, and now remote deletion of games. Eventually, they’ll start cheering for remote bricking of hardware because you swore in an online match and mandatory retinal scans to access your console in the name of public safety.

Remember when Paul Verhoeven films used to be cautionary tales? With the masses being conditioned to think that predatory business practices are acceptable this is going to be our future.
