You have to love when clueless asshats come up with stuff like this. As if the US doesn’t already have a ridiculous incarceration problem, only to [attempt to] exacerbate that issue implementing retarded new laws to deal with shit that doesn’t matter, like whether or not someone is mildly annoying a multi-billion dollar corporation.

It's obvious who Thom Thillis had his palms greased by. The bill is shortsighted because it will only benefit the corporations who have the resources to bankrupt private individuals, and small businesses by prolonging the legal processes, and this bill further incentivize griefers to file false claims due to the added bonus of jail time for their victims. The DMCA is already subject to abuse and this will only intensify said abuse.

"Technology investments could change distribution models
Other avenues for repatriated cash include R&D, especially development of new technologies for content distribution and investments in platforms. This may be especially important given that many established media companies are battling new market entrants that are finding ways to circumvent traditional content distribution. The historical model of producing a film, releasing it through various windows—from theaters to cable or on-demand—is often disrupted by streaming services. Many companies are looking for new and innovative ways to distribute their content, and to transform to platform models, so investment in technology is likely essential. The new law’s extension of the R&D tax credit can certainly encourage these forms of investment.
In addition to the R&D tax credit, the new law allows an immediate deduction for qualified R&D expenditures, although these expenditures will need to be capitalized and amortized beginning in 2023. With both the R&D tax credit and deductions for R&D expenditures, media companies can continue exploring not only new content development and distribution technologies, but ways of using blockchain and encryption technologies to safeguard their copyrights."
So they are going to be afforded tax credit and some immediate deduction for R&D, coming 2023, if I understand it correctly. And maybe this isn't much, so as to make the "platform" categorization worth the effort of defending in judiciary hearings.
They note that internet platforms are given immunity under the current law - they are permitted to take things down at their discretion.
The thing is not that they are policing their content, but rather that they are being partial as to what content they are policing. Which leads to rise of other platforms, like Parler. And if that platform exists as a platform for extremists, this causes a problem, as it basically allows these people to radicalize through other means and, of course, since Parler also promotes itself as a platform, it is not liable for the opinions of the people using it there, until proof that Parler is being partial to a certain rhetoric. Parler, of course, isn't going to care. It only cares about growth, so it will house whoever it can. In the end, the policing only favours these people who have been marginalized, to adopt more extreme outlooks, through persecution syndrome and further getting entrenched in likely uneducated preconceptions, while also robbing them the opportunity of learning or at least being proven wrong. This is only going to prove more divisive in the long term.
It probably doesn’t help that other people on social media will automatically make assumptions and begin pissing and moaning about other people who bother to go on the new platform, even going so far as to make accusations of them being racist far-righters without even bothering to see the actual content of their posts. Heck, it kind of makes me want to check it out lol. Twitter’s a trash heap of silly petty people, which is always something I get a little morbid enjoyment out of, but it’s not hard to see why this sort of thing would only drive more people towards an alternative.

Mass Effect Trilogy, Dragon Age: Origins, Dragon Age 2, Dragon Age Inquisition, KOTOR, Baldur's Gate, Mass Effect Andromeda, Anthem, Mass Effect Legendary Edition
Intersting looks like they'v egot their hansd on the F1 license again then given Codies own that atm.Wonder if that'l lmean F1 shifting to Frostbite. Not yet I don't think as Codies use their own Ego engine for it but it could happen.

Another studio in the graveyard, anyone wants to bet how long it will take?, I say 15~ years.
They haven't done much in the past years. They might just be a bag full of IPs to grab for interested party.
It's very possible given Codies own the F1 license and mak esome really good racing games. I've not played F1 2020 yet(though I do have it) as I've been rtying to finish careers up on the older ones first. But the F1 games definitely are a lot of fun and the M yTeam career mode definite;l looks interesting they introduced this year in the game looks interesting. Judging by how games like NFS Heat looks I think with EA's backing CM can probably do something good an dwork ou twell for them Also CM's been around since the 80's making games so CM I think know what they'er doing.

Xbox Game Pass For PC @xboxgamepasspc Quick update: To ensure a great experience for everyone, EA Play will not be launching on PC with Xbox Game Pass until 2021.
When we originally set out to write this blog post, which would announce the availability of EA Play on PC with Xbox Game Pass, it looked a little bit different. Unfortunately, what had been a celebratory post is now one asking for a little more patience: We made the decision to delay until 2021 the release of EA Play on PC as part of the Xbox Game Pass for PC and Ultimate memberships.
We established this partnership with Electronic Arts because they are as passionate as we are about helping people and communities discover great games, and we knew we could provide a great experience for members by working together. In order to deliver on that, we need more time to provide the Xbox Game Pass experience.
We’ll have more to share early next year; as always, we appreciate your support as we work to deliver this experience for our Xbox Game Pass members. Stay tuned for more information.
Geoff Keighley @geoffkeighley This year #TheGameAwards viewership grew over 83% to more than 83 million livestreams.
This is beyond our wildest expectations; I was just happy we could even produce the show this year.
Thank you for watching and being a part of this global community.
Over 8.3 million peak concurrent viewers. 2.63 million peak concurrent viewers on Twitch, double last year. Watch time up over 129% across Twitch, YouTube and Facebook Gaming. Over 9,000(!) co-streamers on Twitch Twitter conversation up 31% YoY, 65% more unique authors #TheGameAwards hashtag usage up 107% YoY
Hopefully with Marvel Avengers being done and launched, Eidos Montreal will work another Deus Ex title. I feel like that's ultimately what forced them off Mankind Divided in the first place, and why SE made no mentions of a new Deus Ex game.

Damn. I wanted a solid conclusion to Adams story. At this rate, I might not see another till the end of this next-gen console lifespan.
Just bought Detention by Red Candle Games on Steam to support a developer under attack from totalitarian thugs. It's outrageous that their other game Devotion was pulled by Steam and GOG due to pressure from China.
The Kotaku community ranks the most disappointing games for this year as: 1 - Cyberpunk 2 - Last of Us 2 3 - Warcraft 3 Reforged
The first 2 still went on to do extremely well sales wise. In my opinion the prize should have been given to Warcraft 3 Reforged, Blizzard brought everyone a SPECIAL kind of disappointment ... the middle finger to the community kind.
