A marine charging the aliens. The close combat of the aliens is pathetic. Just silly waves in corridors. No suspense, no smart alien ambushes, no feel of dread. Just mowing down mooks on repeat while the only concern is ammo.
I've had more Alien type vibes playing Mass Effect.

I'm a big fan of the Alien films and Alien: Isolation, but this looks to repeat a lot of the problems Aliens: Colonial Marines had - Endless waves of AI xenomorphs with fixed behaviours, high on the number of bullets fired but low on the fear. Adding glowing carapaces and spitting acid doesn't bring anything to the atmosphere that makes the films and A:I so damn good.

Wow, that Aliens: Fireteam game isn't my cup of tea at all. You gotta wonder why Weyland-Yutani was so eager to study those creatures as the perfect killing organism when you watch them die by the truckload in that video. Heck, they even get outlines on their models so the players don't have to pay too much attention.
I'm getting a lot of Aliens: Colonial Marines vibes here.

The problem I am starting to see with Archetype is they aren't trying to create their own identity they are banking more on the past successes of the people that worked on other major studios. That makes great press, but I have seen it in other studios where they boast about how great the pedigree of the staff is only to have a game either fail or be just okay. To me instead of writing press releases puffing out their chest, they need to put something out that they have actually worked on or just stay under the radar for I can already see the expectations of people rising because of their boasting of family tree of studios their staff has worked at and frankly it might just make the game fail regardless of how good it is.

It was one of the things that most impressed me about the game. The fact that Aloy was such a badass and the story and gameplay were fun to work wit hwas a nice bonus too.

So Paradox Interactive had their PDX Insider show and nothing new was shown with a very noticeable lack of HOI4 news. The last DLC for the game was outsourced to a modder and came out a few months back.
The studio proper hasn't released a DLC in over a year now and we don't even know the scope/theme of the next one. The time between DLC is getting longer and longer. Have to say I'm puzzled as to why they let their most played game get stuck in dev purgatory like this.
That new Halo game looks interesting.
I loved the PC demo for 1 years ago when in came out. I've played up through 4 on a borrowed Xbox. If this can capture that feeling of exploring a ring world like 1 did I may pick this up when it's on sale now that Microsoft is releasing games on PC again.
