The Tomb Raider reboots have been EXTREMELY generic. They totally discarded the gameplay of the originals in favour of copying the open world collect-athon that everyone else is doing. Seeing has how GoG is being advertised as an entirely different genre of game from Avengers (ie, a single player rpg with meaningful choices where you only play as one character), I don't see how the success or failure or 'lessons' of Avengers could possibly be relevant. Advertising and what the final product is are two completely different things as well. The only thing that I am going to take is that they are making the game single player, anything beyond that I will need to see first hand and not just blindly take their word for it. Too many games have used expressions like "meaningful choices" when in the end those choices mean absolutely nothing aside from maybe a slide at the end of the game. Not to mention over the decades the RPG claims when frankly the term is used to describe anything that doesn't seem a to a FPS anymore. Its not a complete write off for its on my radar, but I am going to keep my hopes at the level that its just going to be a major misstep like so many other games and maybe my opinion will improve when I see the actual game and not marketing for it. Then it's not any more or less generic than any other game in the "RPG" genre, is it? Being a "superhero" game is not what's making it generic, because the other two console superhero games in recent times, Spider-Man: Miles Mirales and Marvel's Avengers, are two other completely different genres of gameplay (namely another collectathon and a sort of live-service, mission based, on-line co-op thing that I don't know the snappy, convenient term for). But my main point of contention is holding up Tomb Raider reboots and the Deus Ex prequels by comparison, as if there's anything remotely original about either of them.

I don't think so, when someone says superhero or first person shooter there is normally a singular aspect that comes to mind. So a superhero game will have a superhero in it or if its a first person shooter it will be a shooter that is in first person. In my travels across the internet I have seen so many threads make so many different claims of what must be or what must not be in a game labeled as a RPG that it has become a worthless term almost a catch all for anything that doesn't fall into the other categories. As an example I have seen players get twisted into knots about a game being called a RPG and it didn't have a crafting system, but it did have an inventory system for gear that could be collected which is something I see players say must be in a game that is classified as a RPG. For some people its not about the originality of the game, but what that game franchise offered that was unique to it. So something like Deus Ex offering a way to play stealthily or in open combat and maybe even the cyberpunk setting being done in a way they liked. So people will want to re-engage with those aspects and not all the other things that are more like other games.

Think you got your dates wrong, considering they released Mankind Divided in 2016. Lol, yes, I misread my source (I would argue it was written poorly). Still, when's the last time they even mentioned another Deus Ex? 2017? Time to let it go I reckon. Besides, there are FOUR Deus Ex games. If you want to know what happens after Mankind Divided, play the originals by Ion Storm. Mankind Divided was very clearly cut in half. There's another story to be told there. Just because they haven't talked about it while working on another game doesn't mean it's not possible, and it seems reasonable to want that. I don't hate GotG (the banter was obnoxious but apart from that I didn't dislike anything) so I'm not too bothered personally, but I'd like it if they returned to Deus Ex afterwards.

The capacity of the human imagination is infinite, my guy. There's always more stories to be told about everyone, everywhere. I'd like more Deus Ex too, but I don't want any more of Adam Jensen. If anything, I'd prefer a sequel to the original Ion Storm games, I'm not interested in filling in gaps that only exist because Eidos Montreal created them. If Mankind Divided *was* cut in half, then they did that game a favour. It wasn't nearly as good as what came before.

"Always more stories to be told" is not the same thing as "a story to be told that we haven't told yet." Deus Ex is likely the latter. If you don't want Eidos to tell the story they have in mind, whatever, but implying they're over it themselves (and thus telling people to "let it go") seems inaccurate.

I don't recognize this company what with all the good decisions they've been making lately. The higher ups that knew nothing about video games, like Patrick Soderlund who thankfully left, had been running the company to the ground. There are people that know what they are doing within EA that have risen to prominence, due to EAs consecutive fuck ups over the past decade. I know that FIFA and Madden make a lot of money for EA and they could, effectively, live off of them, but that's not healthy for the company. So EA needed people that would score them wins in other franchises, as well. DICE seems to be turning it around, Respawn is doing great and it was Motive that got the hit with Squadrons. Laura is one of the people trying and Vince Zampella is another. We'll see how it goes.

If you are basing your opinion on the Dead Space 3 image I wouldn't go that far EA has a lot of IPs locked away and could be any of them. The person editing that article picked that picture probably thinking its what is going to be made. For all we know this is going to be a mobile Command and Conquer announcement.

Its possible, but the way I read an article about Star Wars: Squadrons is that it was developed like a side project and not something they were putting the full weight of the studio behind. The big project the studio was working on I think became doomed when Jade Redmond left to join Google's development team. So I think the studio hasn't established an identity for itself yet. I think any IP that EA can bring up can be good or bad, I am just avoiding setting any real expectations of what the game might be until there is something official. I have allowed myself to ruin games by my personal hype too many times over the years. I think for me its just bad memories of Dungeon Keeper when it comes to mobile gaming.

Bitcoin continued its dramatic plunge to $US32,281 ($41,404) Monday morning, down 17.65% from a week earlier as some of China’s largest bitcoin mining farms were shut down over the weekend. The bitcoin mining facilities of Sichuan Province received an order on Friday to stop doing business by Sunday, according to Chinese state media outlet the Global Times.
The Sichuan Provincial Development and Reform Commission and the Sichuan Energy Bureau issued an order to all electricity companies in the region on Friday to stop supplying electricity to any known crypto mining organisations, including 26 firms that had already been publicly identified, according to the Global Times.
It seems that some local miners were optimistic that Sichuan’s abundant hydroelectric energy would insulate the region from a cryptocurrency crackdown by authorities, but that optimism was obviously misplaced.www.gizmodo.com.au/2021/06/bitcoin-plunges-as-chinas-sichuan-province-pulls-plug-on-crypto-mining/Goooooooood

What annoys me about this from what I am reading is that even though they have heard about the problem they didn't inform players in the tweet what information is being displayed. For most players it not a big deal since seeing your own IP address isn't a big deal, but a streamer should be informed that the moment they fire up the game their IP address might be exposed.
