Yeah! We are back on the Ishimura! I hope the other long-term Dead Space fans will be receptive to it despite the damage that EA did to the franchise. It kinda needed a reboot given how it ended up. Yeah, I'm a fan of the third game but good lord.
Isaac Clarke should have never killed a human outside of cutscenes nor should he face waves of humans even if they are fanatics.
The story of the Markers was also disappointing and I hope they retcon that.

Visceral is just as responsible for instead of keeping the franchise small, they expanded it to the point EA stepped in. The budget ballooned with the second game and just doomed it to failure instead of just expanding a smaller amount.

A remastered Dead Space? All I can say is FUCK YES!!! That game is the absolute pinnacle of horror gaming IMO and if EA does the smart thing and uses this a stepping stone to relaunch the franchise, then I’m all for it! Whilst 2 was good in its own way, it was a bit too action oriented for me. And although 3 had a lot of potential it was ruined by a mandatory CoOp and a garbage crafting system (not gonna lie, I HATE all crafting systems! ) Still the king of horror games is back baby! I’m sooooo stoked to get back to the Ishimura! Now we just need a Titanfall 3 announcement and I’ll be a happy man for weeks!

Visceral is just as responsible for instead of keeping the franchise small, they expanded it to the point EA stepped in. The budget ballooned with the second game and just doomed it to failure instead of just expanding a smaller amount. It was the publisher that tried to make the franchise appeal to as many people as possible through greenlighting a whole bunch of spinoffs that were frankly a waste (minus Dead Space: iOS). Instead of allowing the fanbase to grow organically at a slower pace, they tried shock therapy.
Visceral is guilty of moving the franchise from horror to action yes; however, EA is also guilty of demanding unnecessary and highly costly features like multiplayer and CO-OP.
More importantly, they are guilty of setting unrealistic sales expectations and then shutting down a studio when it fails to meet those expectations.
EA, nowadays, seems to have calmed down and is trying to win back fans by launching remasters and remakes of franchises that many say they killed. We will see if Dead Space can be brought back to life or if it will turn into another Necromorph.
Time will tell. Time always tells.

As I said both are to blame, but I am not sure how unrealistic those sale expectations were from EA. I know for a lot of people it sounds like a lot, but the cost of living would have driven the labor costs for Visceral pretty high due to be located in California. I think the ballpark estimate is that a publisher will get about half of the sales value back so with five million copies that is about $150 million back and for BioWare Montreal it cost $80 million or $100 million Canadian to make Mass Effect: Andromeda. So I could see that there might have been some wiggle room in the amount of profit EA was looking for the sales target might have been a reasonable target depending on what the wages for development were.

I hope the other long-term Dead Space fans will be receptive to it despite the damage that EA did to the franchise. It's being made by a team that includes what remains of Mass Effect Andromeda's development team, so we know they have plenty of experience of Frostbite and the creation of excellent gameplay.

That being said, how experienced are they in making first person games.

Considering how the internet treats Andromeda, I can imagine the reception to be very positive. I'm sure this nugget will go right over the head of much of the internet. The last project from this team (Star Wars Squadrons) was tight and well received. I'm expecting good things from Dead Space.

The story of the Markers was also disappointing and I hope they retcon that. I expected a more imaginative origin for the markers instead of them used as tools to make Reaper-esque entities, and it seemed derivative. Plus the brother moons having sentience, and the ability to talk like Harbinger despite them being made from non sentient undead creatures made no sense.

Not gonna lie, I’m surprised they’re going the route of a remake over a remaster because dead space has been well...dead for 8 years now. Definitely quite the project to build from scratch on something I’m curious what the interest and sales will be. The safer route would definitely be doing a simple remaster but I’m actually giving some kudos on doing a remake. I hope it’ll be good, fun and can show people want more NEW dead space after.

Of all the series to revive, they choose that piece of shit? Dem's fightin' words 'round here.
But look on the bright side, if they an revive this 'piece of shit' then they can revive an EA published series that you're a fan of.

Good times. I had to do that sequence for several of my friends for they couldn't handle it. Of course there were times I did evil things and was calling out "oh the humanity" while doing it.

On all my playthroughs i had to redo the part because i got squeamish. I probably looked like a crackhead who's going through withdrawal while performing open heart surgery.

An IGN interview that had a few stand out moments. www.ign.com/articles/dead-space-remake-gameplay-story-ps5-xbox-tech-details?utm_source=twitterwww.ign.com/articles/dead-space-remake-gameplay-story-ps5-xbox-tech-details?utm_source=twitterOkay, this is good. They understand the atmosphere. Wow, they are really making good strides. I'm going to be the heretic and say I liked DS3's zero G sections better. There's nothing like flying from ship to ship. Red Flag. The community is awesome...IF they are long time fans who understand context. If they are twitch streamers who just happen to have a lot of views playing Dead Space or Redditors then that's a major issue especially given the hyper sensitive opinions of the modern age toward anything potentially offensive: "Why did you make Unitologists so fanatical, it's discriminatory toward (religious group x)" "Why are you showing self-harm and suicide? People are struggling with depression." "Issac and others having hallucinations? That's neurotypical prejudice." Hope I am dead wrong. I hope this is just a strawman that I made here and here alone. Either way, I'll be keeping an eye out.

After Resident Evil 3's and Demon's Souls' remakes i'll remain cautious but hope for the best.

Of all the series to revive, they choose that piece of shit? EA studios tend to run out of ideas. Remaster, Remake is all they can do / dare do. New ideas only come in when EA take over a dev. And when they run out of popular brands they try their hands at the niche stuff. Maybe they tone down the disgusting stuff to market to a broader audience - I have better to do than cutting limbs of zombie children abominations.
