I tried queuing for star fighter. Waited ten minutes, got bored and did something else. maybe later. Is it pvp? I thought it was over when I did it. Queue times can be a bit longer (15-20 minutes) when one or two games are going and there are not enough people for another one. But when you get into the queue timing, the pops are 1-2 minute apart, depending on server.
Yes, it's PvP. It has 2 modes - Domination (gain control of a total of 3 satellites and keep it as long as possible to reach 1000 points first) and Deathmatch (first team to get 50 kills or have more kills when the timer expires). Each mode has 3 maps and 2 of those maps are identical, but repurposed for the mode needs.
GSF has a steep learning curve, so one should not be frustrated that things seem difficult at first. The Strike Fighter ship is one of the best ones to start with and still use even when you get better. The Gunship is your regular sniper - great when nobody bothers you, but fodder when a Strike or a Scout hunts you. The Scout is a fast, agile ship, but can't take much damage - best used for quick hit and run to harass Gunships or ambush stragglers. The Bomber is very sturdy, but mostly a support ship - healer, area denier - and for beginners it can be the ship to go to, especially the "drone layer" variant that basically lets the AI do all the shooting for you.
Each ship type (Strike, Scout, Gunship, Bomber) has several different ship variants and each of those has different possible builds.
GSF can be a very complex mode when you start to check different builds, but what you should learn, at least to be in the middle of the ranking, is to shoot properly - learn the range of your weapon, shoot when the reticule is red and try to keep the target in your center as much as possible (penalties to Aim if the target is further away from your center). The rest will come with playing and checking the guides on the forums and Youtube.

I meant I didn't think it was pvp last time I played. There is no pve mode? I remember teaming up with guildies and running a scenario against AI. But maybe its been drastically changed since then. Or I'm thinking of something else entirely. lol

You are maybe thinking about the space missions from your ship console, but those are on rails and solo only.

Oh well, maybe I'll ask one of my old friends what they might have been.

Nearing iRating 290 and I almost squeaked when I looted purple stuff for the first time - so at least the vertical gearing feels quite rewarding, not sure about the horizontal though but let’s cross that bridge when we get there ^^ I am starting to dislike the Mek-Sha heroics so I was pleased to hear that there are more planned per Keith‘s „roadmap“ (hopefully with less annoying mobs) And I find it irritating that neither the Onderon Weekly/Daily area nor the Mek-Sha H2s are found under the activities tab you always have to travel there the old fashioned way And the conquest groupfinder is bugged - did red reaper solo runs (aka not via groupfinder, duh) and it counted towards that conquest goal - I mean I won’t complain Now finished the HK bonus chapter for the first time (and got a master, veteran and story equipment crate ) - I have to say, absolutely hilarious, I genuinely laughed out loud several times, very well done!

I got a tech fragment as mob loot (doing a Balmorra Heroic). A single one. Another bug or a feature? I also got an helmet part of a set from a FP boss in story mode. But what I really want is a tactical, unfortunately the Shadow ones you can get from the vendors are a bit meh.

But what I really want is a tactical, unfortunately the Shadow ones you can get from the vendors are a bit meh. I tried to look for good Tacticals at the vendors, but also found them mostly weak. I got some pretty decent ones from the GSF crates (one that makes the Merc's Heatseeker Missile an AOE is awesome). Also the GSF crates regularly give me 300-306 mods, even if my rating is at 270ish. I got one toon at 300 and 4 more at 290ish, mostly by doing the GSF weekly on them. Still just 1 GSF loss after 6.0, look at me jinxing it - but if you lose all 7 games for the weekly, you will get more gear than the guy that wins 4 and stops Just one more set piece to complete a set. Then I will have to figure out what second set to go for.
Bit mad I bought a belt for the set piece bonus and an hour later got the same belt from a GSF crate
Haven't touched the Mek Sha and Onderon dailies yet. Probably will just look at them once.
Found an annoying bug in Flashpoints. Sometimes a player is not level synced and remains at 200k+ HP with all the damage and stats untouched. If this happens, you don't get any Exp points from mobs and bosses in the FP, only Renown. Sucks when you try to do 3-4 quick FPs to get a toon from 70 to 75.

I realized losing all 7 matches meant more stuff back (if you only do that) when I saw the rewards for it though. Which means I could probably load matches and just pretend I'm making an effort. I also think the "gear drop based on your current ilvl" is a bit busted. I'm still getting mostly of 270-272 pieces despite my ilvl reading 276, which means I'm trashing most of the stuff I find as I got enough 274 to gear 4 characters in my legacy bank already...I probably should go outfit my other two level 75.

I can confirm this to be the case. The game has a chance to give you gear, based on even the single 272 mod you got in your otherwise 290+ setup. So it's not just the average iLevel, but also the lowest piece/mod you have.

I experienced that too, but everything is now at least at 274 (mods included) so I should be getting way more 276 pieces than I'm getting. In fact, I got more 276 pieces before I go to iRating 270 as my armor was all 276 except boots for a while now. It's the implants/relics that drags my iRating down...and boots.

So I've played through Onslaught a few times. I like the story and can see that they're setting up future stuff. Gearing seems overly complicated now and I don't like it. I don't like how long it takes to gain Renown levels. I'm not a fan of crafting. I don't like how much I know to do to meet my personal conquest now. But it's all stuff I'll suffer through because I like SWtOR. I just hope they do make some changes. Glad to see the returning companions and Keith's thread says Tharan will return with the next patch! I really hope Holiday is optional...blech!

I don't like how long it takes to gain Renown levels. Feel as fast as gaining a level to me and each level has the same XP requirement.

to celebrate the release of Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order there will be a surprise for SWTOR players as well (you just need to log in somewhen between the 14th of November and the 10th of December) look hereand I have to say it actually looks cute (I feared - when Keith wrote about a little something for us - that it would be yet another reskinned astromech )

I have to vent - met the worst healer in my 8 years in this game... A level 75 Commando that only used Kolto missile once in a while and maybe a couple of Healing scans in the entire FP. No Kolto shot, no Rapid scan, no nothing ever. He barely used his DPS skills and it was only Mortar volley and the basic attack even then. I stand there, hiding from damage, right next to him and he does nothing at all, even when my health is below 30%. Sometimes he used the kolto stations, but only if he took even a little damage, which left the other 3 of us dry on stations in emergency. When I asked if he is a healer, he responded in all caps "I AM. ARE YOU EVEN AVOIDING THE DAMAGE?". Yeah, well, how do you avoid the damage (not talking about the circles of stupid and telegraphed enemy abilities)? Hacks? I asked him to show his heal rotation and guess what - Kolto missile on CD and a Healing scan is all he knew, but apparently was "ENOUGH FOR NIM OPS" (he had no Ops achievements).
I practically soloed the entire Maelstrom prison FP since the healer did nothing, the other level 75 was DCed every minute and we had just a lvl 46 Sentinel who died from everything. A run that should take about 20 minutes tops took me over an hour.

oh dear - this is the exact reason why I loathe grouping for FPs ... incompetence, incompetence everywhere ... they're not even trying I can recommend veteran SOLO RR though if you want to do FPs BTW - "getting gear drops for your discipline" seems to be not working properly... as I've written before, I re-specced from Seer to Balance sage and chose the balance loot discipline as well ... but all I get from the gearing crates so far: revitalized mystic & empowered restorer set pieces or generic stuff

oh dear - this is the exact reason why I loathe grouping for FPs ... incompetence, incompetence everywhere ... they're not even trying I can recommend veteran SOLO RR though if you want to do FPs BTW - "getting gear drops for your discipline" seems to be not working properly... as I've written before, I re-specced from Seer to Balance sage and chose the balance loot discipline as well ... but all I get from the gearing crates so far: revitalized mystic & empowered restorer set pieces or generic stuff In 90% of the runs it's a breeze (about 60/40 for MM), but there are the odd ones where you land with 3 inadequate teammates and all the horror stories happen. It's why many people refuse the queue when they see someone below lvl 70 or less than two level 75.
And you can choose a loot discipline? Did I miss that? Where? I just get stuff for everything, except Tanking gear on my DPS and Healer specs.

I don’t play any healers. I just spec to dps. Lol. That experience does sound pretty bad. I avoid group play anyway, unless with friends. I don’t want any strangers mistaking me for a healer 😛

Once at level 75, click your portrait (same place you reinitialize instances). There is a new option to select your loot discipline among the 3 in your AC. It only seems to work for FP's boss loot though (maybe OPs too but I don't run those so).

I don't like how long it takes to gain Renown levels. Feel as fast as gaining a level to me and each level has the same XP requirement. This is what I'm talking about: to get from 299 to level 300 you needed 4990 cxp. The amount of cxp you needed increased each level but 4990 was as high as it went. Dulfy Galactic Command Guide
I logged on a character last night that is Renown 1 or 2 and she needs 160,000 xp to get to the next level. It might always be the same (160k) but it's considerably more than we used to need and for me, it feels too long.

OUCH sorry you had a bad experience
