So I went and tested this DvL armour set thing, worked pretty good. Gives me 148880 health which is nice (Immortal Jugg). It's particularly good in that it means that when my sub drops and I stop being able to get gear, I can still play because I am on par with the the top gear already

As soon as what's-his-face (Ben?) said "RNG is fun!" I knew they were going to have a problem on their hands.

I don't think so, but I've never tried it. I take pleasure in shooting him.*

Man, me and Satele go way back. She came to my home planet when she was just a young padawan. I convinced her that it was ok to bang before she became a full jedi, and was about to do the deed, but then Orgus showed up and put a stop to it quick smart. I hate that guy.

I don't understand. I get these command tokens to buy gear, but I need unassembled whatevers to go with them to buy gear. But I can only get them by doing Ops and Warzones?

So people who pvp are entitled to gear, but people who only do flashpoints/uprisings/heroics aren't? That's nice.....

I have nothing to spend all those stupid tokens on then. Except things to level my command rank faster. Which does nothing for me...........

Technically nothing has changed for you. You still get gear from the crates, randomly, and you now get them even faster. The whole unassembled stuff was only introduced because the endgame PvE people whined about it taking too long to get the best gear (they have a point) and BioWare threw them a bone. Now you can work towards specific pieces on top of hoping to get lucky.

Except, not quite.
Operation bosses have a chance to drop unassembled gear, the chance increasing towards the final one. You still have to win the roll vs. the 7 or 15 other players though... if it even drops in the first place. You then trade it in (+tokens) for the actual piece of gear you want.
PvP drops unassembled components and if you have enough of those (+tokens) you can trade them in for unassembled gear, which you then trade in (+tokens) for the actual piece of gear you want.
Fun fact: The vendors only have MK-3, MK-15 and Iokath MK-5. If you have crafted MK-4, MK-14 or Iokath MK-4... or if you have dropped MK-13 or Iokath MK-3... then you can't upgrade it. Which means that my crafted Iokath MK-4 (rating 240) relic is the best I can get unless I want to buy MK-3, upgrade it to MK-15 and upgrade that to Iokath MK-5, which would cost me up to 500 components. Or I hope to get lucky with the crates.
Btw... you get about 50 components a day unless you invest a lot of time. 50 means 10 victories in unranked warzones. If you lost, you need to play even more. I'm sticking mainly to GSF because a win there gives you 8 components (a loss still 3) and cxp goes up to 1500 for a victory with lots of medals. It also doesn't care about your level or gear, everyone uses the same ships... although you might need a while before you have all of them and all the upgrades and crew. But it's a lot of fun, too.

This still doesn't address the fact that I'm forced to stick with one char until it is fully geared before I can play my alts.

Sure, once the 250% cxp event starts I'll get to rank 300 much faster and may even get a few drops to bring me to 240+. But I have the feeling this is just the preparation of BioWare introducing Tier 4 and 5 and making sure people are T3 already.
That means I will be able to play my alts in the window between getting best gear with my main and the new tiers being introduced. Which probably won't be long, since I estimate I'll need about two months.

The kicker though? Eric's math explanation. Quote: "One thing you will notice is that the % you earn with additive is lower than that of multiplicative. That is one of the reasons that we are making this change under the new event, so that you aren’t actually losing any CXP earned."
Uh... why would I be losing cxp if it's multiplicative? It's almost 20% more and now you are nerfing it.

That's like taking away half my money and telling me it's for my own good. Or, in an even more condescending interpretation: "We changed it because now it's easier for dumb people to calculate."

I could design a better system within an hour and I'm sure BioWare could, too. They require it to do other things though, like keeping the players engaged constantly and stretching out game time. Hence the abomination we've got now.

I still play, but much less time playing. My GC is almost level 30. I'm sure everyone else is way ahead of me, but I just don't have the energy to grind out GC levels. I've gotten one piece of blue 230 gear for my sage. My main character with my highest GC level. It just seems like kind of a waste of time for me now.

My main (healer sage) is almost at rank 200 now. My alts are at 43, 40, 38, 23, 28, 31, 9, 8, 11 and 7. Or something like that.

I play ~2 hours a day, a little bit more on weekends.
