Pretty sure that was the excuse used in the official BSN forum right? ... the reason why the previous SWTOR thread got stuck on Off-Topic section for years... but not everyone pay $15 per month to have access to the 'official' SWTOR forum.
Its been over a year since they killed forum.bioware.com, was there really a good reason for an unofficial Bioware forum to round up SWTOR players in a single "Other Games" thread again? If Anthem got its own section, why not just have The Old Republic section with KOTOR 1&2 and SWTOR, each having its own threads. Like what's up, we legit have more new content by Bioware within these last few weeks than either Mass Effect Andromeda or Dragon Age 4 or Anthem combined.
At the very least, it would be nice to filter a lot of discussions from this singular thread... which starting to feel like a smorgasbord. I would love a spoiler-free thread especially for newbies to ask questions without getting intimidated, build guides, character discussions and "Share Your Character/Fashion/Stronghold" or "What did you do today" threads... I'm on Reddit, Discord and even several facebook groups but none of them will replace these kinds of threads and engagement.
And at 30k, THIS thread is the most viewed here.

There is no reason for anyone to feel intimidated by this thread. Everyone here has been nothing but kind and friendly. I, myself, am more than happy to help newcomers to the game or the thread. And all those things can be discussed here.
I mean, if they decide to make a star wars games related section, I'm all over it, but this thread can be and has been helpful as well.

Well, don't know about that, but that excuse is stupid so you can rest assured it would never fly here. KOTOR falls under Legacy games (which seems to mean before EA bought BioWare). TOR isn't Legacy. Otherwise I have not seen the numbers to warrant a separate section. 30k views over a year isn't that much. I can bring this up to the rest of the mods if you want, but I don't imagine their votes will differ. |

Kinda wished there's a similar justification over why Anthem deserve its own section when it wasn't even out yet. Heck, there's a Bioware guy on a SWTOR channel who plays Anthem semi-regularly who do rarely talk about it... which is more legit news than majority of the speculation threads in Anthem section. I still see many say they love Knights of the Old Republic and raving about how the gameplay and graphics are still good in 2017... but literally ignore SWTOR as if we never exist. This is an active-in-development-and-supported Bioware game that's apparently wasn't Bioware enough to be acknowledged  What are we supposed to do with that attitude...? As if we didn't get the whole "SWTOR is dead" every day... and I get that again in the same ME/DA community. I want be as active here and to engage on more discussions as I do with ME and DA threads. I do play the game almost everyday and I hate to spam. But apparently that's the only option here.  oh well, I guess I have to wait another year to raise this issue again... |

I'd love a whole SWTOR sub-section too - would be nice to have a dedicated forum without the doomsayers that dominate the official forum and the activity in this thread could/would rise IF it was a sub-forum with different threads, you know  ... but Kaiden has a point too - we have been very friendly and helpful (hopefully) to new players in this thread already so the NEED for a whole sub-section isn't really a given... anyway OT: I love this Daily-Area-Bug - best thing that happened to SWTOR all year, finally the game is ALT-friendly again ... 20 people in CZ-198  (usually on TRE there are about 4) ... these areas feel so alive now, just awesome... I hope they keep the bug until 5.5 comes out... or even 6.0 |

Future #Arcannites stuff From last twitch Correllian podcast, Musco hint something going on with Arcann involving romance. Understandably a lot of us raised Arcann romance request several times over the past years and so far this is probably the second time he talk about potential romance and the first time he address Arcann specifically and that they like the idea very much.  ...and there's that Arcann's mail.... "My hand is yours. You need only ask."  bae, you already bended the knee... don't leave me hanging. *sensing Theron fangirls sharpening their knives* post-Umbara thingy I lurked around Charles Boyd's twitter feeds and noticed he wanted Theron's fans to "trust in Theron". Pretty much hush hush about the next arc, so I guess that will be addressed once the embargo is over.
Still no news on 5.5 or the next God Of Machines bosses but I find its weird that Iokath story is still hanging. Nobody explain the cryptic conversation with the Zakuulan Scions and their weird look.
But looking in context that you still choose Republic and Empire on Iokath, kinda understand why Theron would say something about you've becoming the symbol of corruption and oppressor.... hopefully Bioware explore these things with more depth.
There are a lot of power vacuum that needed to be filled. As of now, you've disposed Vaylin, assumed control of Zakuul Empire (as Emperor/Empress or as the #DearLeader of Eternal Alliance), dispose either Supreme Commander or Sith Empress... and there's a strong allusion to Trespasser DLC...
at the end of KOTET, Valkorion will say that the Alliance will "burn into ashes" and in the last vision Vaylin was there. Hopefully we'll see her again... Bioware are known to resurrect characters anyway.
Due to damages to underwater cables from various typhoons, my ISP is currently facing some latency issues with American servers... its been harder to stay connected and probably would last till October. Since it heavily lags every few minutes, I stop entertaining group stuff for now... bleh.. I want to grind Umbara token. |

SWTOR maintenance, hopefully they could help out the lags... and not fix the dailies. lol, my Assassin need to reach 300! Anyway, my sub is ending in 7 days. I will have two alts to raise to level 70. Team Pink!   and I gain access to decorate my guild's Imp ship. Kinda went overboard with donating Sith decos.... Will plan to redecorate the republic ship with legendary deco stuff from Section X and do ROTHC main quests again so I could reach Legendary on Makeb. Strongholds have proven to be a good credit sink. I won't plan on getting the new train SH. Until they unlock another SH slot... I get that its related to conquest bonus. But I probably invest Umbara tokens on those reusable stim schematics... could have warned me first before making a bunch of stims. |

I remember there was a post by developers a few months back that they are considering a male Force User as an LI finally... any news on that? Nah. Just them blowing more hot air at us to try and quiet the masses. Heh. What else is new. I think I will still pick a sub for a bit eventually to do the Fallen Empire chapters. Just received an offer from them for 1 free month if I sub for a month. Kindda tempted, but not sure if I want to play it RIGHT FRIGGING NOW! |

 I do love Arcann from the start and I've been wanting his romance since 2015 which is way before we knew he could be redeemed... The romance request thread have been up that long as well. There's literally not a single male force user companion romance in the entirety of SWTOR. Was it really too much to ask? He is a companion now... being progressed as an LI made more sense than wishing for Thexan to get resurrected just to be romanced because he's allegedly the good twin. Bioware made Garrus romanceable in ME2 and made Kaidan and Jaal as bisexual despite being introduced as straight characters. They can do whatever they want with their games. Its an option after all. |

heh, this does not describe me. I am just as frustrated that the only point of cordial agreement for all men in Jedi Order with their passionate nemesis, the Sith, was a studious avoidance of entanglements with a female protagonist, but Arcann really did not strike me as an LI material. that he is a companion now is news to me, but in current iteration of the game, well, who in the blazes is not... |

It is true we have way too many companions now, imo. It's also true that I did have some negative feelings about Arcann in the start too. Until he saved Senya and then I said "OH, MY HEART! I KNEW YOU WERE REALLY GOOD!" And what aoibhealfae says is true, people have been asking for a male force user LI for years. Starting with Scourge, I think. And there has never been one except for Cytharat on Makeb as a temp LI for male empire characters only. |

Yes, I distinctively remember playing and complaining how I paved the surface of multiple planets with males I preferred over Quinn as my LI. And like that in all other stories too. a female could never even flirt with any FU male save for the flashpoint Sith in the beginning of the revan's Expansion story. And he promptly shot her down too. I don't give two figs about Senya either, so... I have never finished those chapters, I got bored in some bog with some Fleet at the time and went to try ME. But it's getting close to 1.5 years since I stopped playing it, so I might be ready to catch up... |

Considering its the latest post-Knights of the Eternal Throne, you might be lost if you hadn't kept up to Arcann's variable arcs.. which kinda brings the point of why a general thread can be confusing... alas we're not the power that be... as for too many companions issue; alliance alerts are optional and you can permanently kill off a lot of storyline companions in KOTFE/KOTET Tanno Vik, HK-55, Aric/Kaliyo, Senya, Koth, Scorpio, Arcann, Vette/Torian..
Marr and Acina if you want to count them, Malavai and high likely Theron since players can't handle any betrayal arc to their ego. Kaidan Fan I kinda wanted Scourge to resolve his personal arc to Revan and Vitiate storyline than a romance.. but its 2017 and so its very unlikely for it to ever happen. I like to play DS-neutral characters and I've had DS character who have done worst things than Emperor Arcann... so I'm not sure why its such a big problem that Arcann is not a clean cut conventional male love interest. Was all TOR love interests are that clean? No dark past or bad quirks or something...? Didn't Atton brag how he killed a lot of Jedi? Didn't people proudly brag they hate Kaidan for being straightlaced boring vanilla or Cullen for being too perfect drug addict etc but I don't think Arcann was simply turned to good... If you play some of Voss-related storylines, its pretty clear that their healing ritual will not turn a bad person to good.. it was done to remove someone's dark influence (Sel Makor) and if the person is unredeemable or true evil, he would die. (Imp Agent story I think) Therefore, Arcann is always the person he is, who still love his family despite how flawed they all are... including his own father who drove him to kill his own brother.... but without his darkness and escaping Valkorion's influence, he could finally be himself. In KOTFE, Arcann was less ruthless than even the most DS Outlander (a crazy terrorist turned emperor) or Vaylin (a psychopathic tyrant with no brake pedal). It became apparent to me that he was under the influence of his father's manipulation that drove him mad with hatred. You can see this in Chapter 8, if you choose to surrender to Arcann, Valkorion did something and forced Arcann to kill the Outlander or if you choose dark side path in Chapter 6. And even Valkorion did the same with Vaylin but less subtle about it. Also this!  Its so campy but he's literally became a knight in shining armor.  so protective of his empress :amirite: |

Considering its the latest post-Knights of the Eternal Throne, you might be lost if you hadn't kept up to Arcann's variable arcs.. which kinda brings the point of why a general thread can be confusing... alas we're not the power that be... as for too many companions issue; alliance alerts are optional and you can permanently kill off a lot of storyline companions in KOTFE/KOTET Tanno Vik, HK-55, Aric/Kaliyo, Senya, Koth, Scorpio, Arcann, Vette/Torian..
Marr and Acina if you want to count them, Malavai and high likely Theron since players can't handle any betrayal arc to their ego. Kaidan Fan I kinda wanted Scourge to resolve his personal arc to Revan and Vitiate storyline than a romance.. but its 2017 and so its very unlikely for it to ever happen. I like to play DS-neutral characters and I've had DS character who have done worst things than Emperor Arcann... so I'm not sure why its such a big problem that Arcann is not a clean cut conventional male love interest. Was all TOR love interests are that clean? No dark past or bad quirks or something...? Didn't Atton brag how he killed a lot of Jedi? Didn't people proudly brag they hate Kaidan for being straightlaced boring vanilla or Cullen for being too perfect drug addict etc but I don't think Arcann was simply turned to good... If you play some of Voss-related storylines, its pretty clear that their healing ritual will not turn a bad person to good.. it was done to remove someone's dark influence (Sel Makor) and if the person is unredeemable or true evil, he would die. (Imp Agent story I think) Therefore, Arcann is always the person he is, who still love his family despite how flawed they all are... including his own father who drove him to kill his own brother.... but without his darkness and escaping Valkorion's influence, he could finally be himself. In KOTFE, Arcann was less ruthless than even the most DS Outlander (a crazy terrorist turned emperor) or Vaylin (a psychopathic tyrant with no brake pedal). It became apparent to me that he was under the influence of his father's manipulation that drove him mad with hatred. You can see this in Chapter 8, if you choose to surrender to Arcann, Valkorion did something and forced Arcann to kill the Outlander or if you choose dark side path in Chapter 6. And even Valkorion did the same with Vaylin but less subtle about it. Also this! Its so campy but he's literally became a knight in shining armor. so protective of his empress :amirite: Which is kind of a problem with companions in general now... If a character can be permanently removed/killed off, they are kinda doomed to never play an important role in any future storyarc. So it's unlikely that many resources will be put into them. |

I asked him about TOR and he said he hadn't heard anything (but he would be willing to return if they asked). So, very little hope for our favorite hologram-loving genius making a comeback anytime soon.  |

I guess I should mention I met Jamie Elman (in an unrelated context) who does the voice for Theran Cedrax. I asked him about TOR and he said he hadn't heard anything (but he would be willing to return if they asked). So, very little hope for our favorite hologram-loving genius making a comeback anytime soon. They are only now starting to work on the remaining companions return. Seventeen are still missing/unreturned (18 if you count Vic). So maybe they just haven't gotten around to Tharan yet *crosses fingers* Also...cxp bug on those certain planet heroics is sticking around a few more weeks. HAVE AT IT!  link Hey all, Recently, we have had more maintenances than normal. This was compounded by our update issues last Thursday which led to over 10 hours of maintenance. Thursday’s issue along with the extra downtime have impacted all of our playtime, and they especially are bothersome when you consider how much XP and CXP you lost from the Double XP/CXP event was running along with the over the top CXP for Daily Areas. So, to make sure your characters can take advantage from both, here’s what we going to do: Since the Double XP/CXP event ended on Tuesday, we’ve decided to bring it back earlier than planned. That is, we had scheduled to make it available in December around the holidays, but it’ll return with the launch of Game Update 5.5. That will give you another full week to benefit from the event. The Daily Area bug is also going to stick around for a few weeks. As Eric mentioned in another post, our plan was to fix it next week in another patch, but we’ve decided to hold off any changes until Game Update 5.5. I’m personally leveraging this as a means of playing my other toons and raising their Command Rank to 300. Honestly, it’s been a lot of fun seeing so many other players taking advantage, too. It is very clear everyone is really enjoying higher rewards on the older Daily Missions. As a result, we are exploring some options such as increasing CXP values above their base rewards, making rotating daily objectives worth high bonuses, and more. We will let you know where we land on these discussions, but one thing is for certain, higher CXP values are very motivational. I doubt Vic will ever return, his VA died. To be fair, he already returned, just not as a companion. And they changed the Sith Emperor's VA for KotFE and nobody really made a big thing about it (in fact, I feel like there have been a couple other surreptitious switches that I can't recall specifically offhand, but I could swear I've noted before it was more than just those two). So in general, I feel like the VA excuse, which I've seen frequently used for not getting Jaesa back too, doesn't hold a ton of water. If the writers want 'em back, we'll get 'em back. I'm not exactly holding my breath, though, more just 'cause I don't think they're as much a priority as I'd like 'em to be. |

What are we supposed to do with that attitude...? As if we didn't get the whole "SWTOR is dead" every day... and I get that again in the same ME/DA community. 
oh well, I guess I have to wait another year to raise this issue again...

(usually on TRE there are about 4) ... these areas feel so alive now, just awesome... I hope they keep the bug until 5.5 comes out... or even 6.0
