Star Wars: The Old Republic Discussion

I'm almost done with my Smuggler going through the base game stories. Only Corellia left and then Ilum + 3 flashpoints...and the dailies areas (Black Hole/Section X...I haven't touched those since 2012).

I've done all the planets, bonus series included, for the rest on Republic side. It is somewhat sad because I never did those for the Imperial side outside of chapter 1 (I reached Legendary status with the 12x bonus one summer) and I doubt I'm going to do that for the Imps (although I kinda did start with my Powertech). Then I'm going to pick up for the first time ever the Seeker Droids and Macrobinocular quests...because I never bothered with them.

I also went to see the Gree enclave on Ilum on my Consular yesterday. I never bothered before. I'm pretty sure there are other things I "missed" in the game too.

Also, BioWare might want to do a clean up of the rewards for the bonus series, there is one on Voss that still give companion's gear lol.

And hopefully I'll actually get to play with you guys soon!

They make it sound like we can explore Dantooine even when the event isn't happening, so I like that!

I finished base game story + the 2 daily area (Black Hole/Section X) on my Ruffians. The only thing I haven't done are the FPs without Story Mode. While doing Section X even I picked up the HK-51 quest line and did all of it for the first time ever (and probably last)...I now have my own murder bot.

I'm actually enjoying the Smuggler's dialogues choices post Correlia more than during the class story. Insulting Darth, check! Mocking criminal leaders, check! Making everyone in the room facepalm, check! Whining about being the only person who can do anything in the Republic, check! I even like how all the Imps call me the Republic dirty little secret.

Next Makeb...Republic Makeb, which I've done like halfway on my oldest character and found super boring to do (Imperial Makeb was great though).

I think I can understand why people claims KoTFE is better with a force user class. Although, probably not for the same reasons as I think the story works well with my YOLO Smuggler who understand nothing about the force who just want to get ride of the Eternal Empire to go back to the "old days" and the Alliance is a bit like having Port Nowhere again. Also, the unwanted passenger stayed around because he find the Smuggler amusing and wonder how the hell she is still alive. That all fit.

What doesn't fit, is that outside droids, the majority of the "human" enemies are lightsaber using force users. I don't have issue with Smuggler vs 1 force user because there is enough space to avoid attacks and stuff (and technically it's 2 vs 1). I do have an issue when I'm being whacked on by 2-3 lightsabers at the same time while my Smuggler is dodging all that while throwing thermal detonators and shooting at things. But mostly, it makes me want to play a force user again. Noooooooooo.

So after ~100 hours on my Smuggler, I now want to play a force user again. I made one last night (JK Guardian) before logging off, made it to the Jedi temple. Let see how far I'm going to go (chance of me getting bored are high). Last time I tried to replay JK I stopped at Tatooine, but it was a Sentinel and I don't really like Sentinel gameplay (I love Guardian/Juggernaut). If I continue playing as a JK, no way I'm finishing Assassin's Creed Odyssey or replay Pathfinder Kingmaker and POE: Deadfire any time soon. 

Some other random opinions:
- Lana's Republic romance "feels" better to me than the Imperial version. You really get a sense of "forbidden fruits", at least early on. The dialogue choices works well with the Smuggler too. Although, I fear my Smuggler might be a bit too goofy for Lana (she's so often not amused).
- I wish Zakuul had proper side quests. I love the city design, very cyberpunky. It just feels so empty without side quests. That also goes into my main issue with KoTXX: it's is just a string of main quests (alerts, the arena and star fortress are not exactly the same thing as side quests).
- Shadow of Raven is such a poor expansion in executions. Also, I was amused that playing Republic side shows them as paranoia induced backstabbers while I don't remember anything like that from the Imperial side (or it come off as natural on that side when it is just weird when it is Satele Shan who act like that).
- I feel weird saying that, but I miss Corso. He was my main questing companion for most of my Smuggler play time as he was the only one that worked as a tank. None of the forced companions in KOTFE makes a good tank, it's screwing over my playstyle.
- HK-55 is awesome. My favorite HK. I also do not regret spending those few hours to get HK-51. He's now standing guard at the commander's quarter and he had some lines in chapter 9.

Now I need to think what kinda of person my JK is going to be...

R.I.P Star Forge and Darth Malgus. The Pirate Incursion threw too many thermal detonators at them and they melted.


There is a storyline cutscene for people who finished Jedi Under Siege in this update while the Dantooine event is for level 20+ characters. There are KOTET/KOTFE alliance NPCs in it (the cutscene) who aren't named Lana or Theron.


update 1: and as I wrote this, Bioware announced they found the issue for the servers melting and the fix will require a shutdown/restart of the servers today.

update 3: Sad news, Paul Darrow, Overseer Tremel's voice actor and Blake's 7 actor, passed away. 

OMG! The saboteur version of the post-Ossus story cutscene are hilarious. The one I saw on youtube so far had the voice actors having too much fun with it.

Both sides. Your character get asked by their respective faction to do a public appearance (TV interview for Pubs, speech in front of troops for Imps) to increase morale. Characters who choose to be saboteur in Jedi Under Siege gets special optional dialogues choices to undermine morale that come off as hilarious in-context.

I only have one character post-Ossus and my female SW is loyal to the Empire (tradition speech was awesome, but I think I should have picked the middle one) so I watched videos when some popped on Reddit for the others.

When Jedi Under Siege start (and if you supported the opposite faction in previous content like Iokath), Lana will propose you to either side with the Imperial or Republic. If you pick the faction opposite your character's starting faction you become a "saboteur" (I think double agent is a better description though). That result in your quest actions on Ossus being slightly altered (automatically) to undermine your starting faction.

Don't feel bad about it, I'm basically the only one posting anything and it's mostly rambling (with a bit of official information).

And that's happening because I'm weird and behave the opposite of the rest of the internet: I only talk about games I like and/or I'm currently playing.

It's good there is the BSN to keep me updated on SWTOR. Haven't played in ages. Might check the event and catch up with whatever little story bits I haven't seen yet (Jedi under siege). My Sith Pureblood Jedi Knight (named Sithani as well) seems like an interesting option to turn on the Republic. I am sure no one would have seen that coming. The romance with Lana surely fooled everyone too!
