Merrill did not appear in DAO. There was an elf named Merrill in the Dalish origin, but I think it was a really incompetent Envy demon that pretended to be Merrill when she was off picking flowers.

I liked Merrill she had a sweet innocent vibe to her despite being a blood mage, who was susceptible to being possessed at a moments notice. For real every time I left her alone in her house, I worried coming back and seeing she became an abomination. As a mage she tempted fate by messing around with forbidden knowledge. Like the Eluvian mirror.

Thanks for the video. She does sound more strict as well as having a different voice actor. Her face is also different. She doesn't look as sweet and innocent as in DA2.

Yeah, but to be honest, the Origins versions didn't have much personality. I would've very much disliked travelling with such a Stoic version of Merrill. You gotta have some emotion to be an enjoyable character.

So I'm watching the second episode of the TV series A Very English Scandal and who shows up but Eve Myles. As a DA2 fan, that made me smile. I think she's a marvellous actress - I'd love her to appear in a future Dragon Age game.

Merrill gets all defensive and basically says "We do have ceilings!".

However, When you click Velanna inside Vigil's Keep, she comments on how being under a ceiling makes her uncomfortable. Naturally, that is a result from the Dalish lifestyle.

Bottomline is, Merrill is real full of shit sometimes.

Or Bioware just decided to change things and/or forgot. Or Velanna and Merrill are different people and feel different about ceilings. Plus the ceiling of a giant stone castle and a light aravel are very different so could cause different reactions.
