A thin redish line is just streaming from L to R and it says "Preparing to Download".......................................

My Internet connecttion is just fine.  Presently sitting at 95 Mbps with an Upload of 32.4 and a Ping of 15 ms........Not the fastest given the time of day.  Sometimes when traffic is light I can hit 200Mbps Download

It has been suggested that I look for an update to the EA App so I am going to do that tonight.

It's a preorder as long as it's before launch, even by minutes, unless specifically specified otherwise. You can make a new one now and it will count the same.

Apparently it's a great game, but review copies ran like garbage on PC.

A 4090 has issues hitting 60 FPS at 1440p and runs at 30-45 in some areas:

Review copies. There is another patch that reviewers didn't have. However given the extent of the issues, I doubt it will fix the performance much. At least I hope it fixes the audio glitches that apparently ruin every single cinematic in the game.

What's curious is that some games that are a little rough at preview get downrated to 6/10.
This one is getting the issues mentioned, but it's a shrug that hasn't affected the 8.5/10 rating, pretty much.

What determines when a game gets kicked and when it doesn't?

Based on recen tevents I'd hazard a guess at fanboys an dthe console wars. Personally I don' t care which plastic box I' m using to pla ya game so long as I enjoy it.

Yeah I know Jed iSurvivors big as it said on one vid I watched i ttakes up a whopping 150 gb disc space though I also heard the rest of the specs are relatively modest.Obviously you wil l need more than yo udo for Fallen Order but not too much more by the looks of it.

True enough. I got this for Xbox as I get the Game Pass discount, so at least they've tested it on a known platform. I realise PS5 has more fluff in its haptics, but I usually turn them down a bit anyway as they get too aggressive and become distracting rather than immersive.

There's also a difference between game breaking bugs and the occasional glitch or frame drop (I play and enjoy Bethesda games).

If you are perhaps referencing a game that you and I both enjoyed, but faired poorly in sales and reception (both critical and player) then I'd suggest the answer lies in three parts.

1 - 'The Other Game' was honest about it's PC requirements, set them absurdly high and met them.  The expected performance from any given setup was the actual performance. Survivor has...high requirements...but the actual experienced performance by reviewers suggests that those requirements have undershot the mark.

2 - It was a new IP that suffered from a terrible demo (which, based on videos I've watched of it subsequently, bears so little resemblance to the actual game, that people who played it were less informed than those who hadn't) versus the follow up to a universally acclaimed title set in a IP with decades of pervasive global awareness.

3 - Look at the protagonists (images or descriptions) side by side.  Look really, really closely.  There are some very subtle differences...   (nothing to do with dialogue or delivery).
