So that trivia time by Beerfish the other day got me all nostalgic for some reason, and the alcohol absolutely had no play in that i tells ya, to the point of actually opening me3mp and takin my carniflex AA** out for a stroll.  Started a public lobby, got a company of two (QFE and HFE) early on. i think, memory's a bit vague there. The rust was real, me rage gelling through ops/gels like there's no tomrorow. Oh and it felt rather weird overall, almost like in a laggy match, but on host and the teammates's damage dealt felt rather subpar. and not because they haven't honestrly tried, just i ended up in a larger and larger lead for some reason. I've tried to stay away from as much as i could to help with possibel latency issues. @lifenaut's SE proved to be a competent whaler when they joined (?) my host hasn't caused much issue to their Kishock. So we got through to w10's hack (the one in the reactor of course), a fair share of revive trains but we nuked our way through that predicament. we lost our suitrat during exfil, was too hot to revive, so sadly only a partial extraction. Good game, Carniflex AA is OP. Biovar plz.

I got sync killed on the first device because two people are too busy score whoring to help. The other person was probably too new to know better, which is very forgivable. I watched for around two minutes in spectator mode before I couldn't take any more.

They were around (Hydra right outside the control room), just too busy scoring to care.

Well...

After a long-ass time without playing this old-ass game, i decided to give it a try... BIG MISTAKE.

The first round was ok, your usual Tghost cheesing with the Carrier^TM, some clueless ratsuit scanning every moving object and a someone else that i don't recall atm.

But, the second game that i join in, o, 🅱️OI, they took the stankiest cheese i'd ever witness in years; Sexbot with reegar+incendiary and a volus rolling around with the same kit, MOFOs, i couldn't let them do whatever business they were planning to do to the poor reapers, so (as a good BSNer) i changed team and started slapping some sense into them.

i only feel bad for what it could have been a clueless turian trying plat for the first time, sorry m8.

Fastest Alliance Infil I ever saw in a plat match. Sped across the map in seconds. I noticed that he often paused, as though typing something, even though a banshee was on his ass. Clearly cheating.

Edit. I forgot to mention he was loaded with a rank three shotgun, ammo three and yet took out a banshee in two shots.

Here I gave my rationale (excuse) for using cheezy class. This time, I went extra cheese (Ghost/Carrier). Was a good call. If I didn't have the Ghost, no way we make it. If I didn't have the Harrier, add 5-10 minutes.

Second guy, don't know how he got 100K. Maybe when he decided to go AWOL on the W3 & W10 hacks! W3 I had to solo it, the other guy joined ~W7 or 8 and joined me in the circle. But poor guy (Flamer Trooper) kept going down. W6 I missiled 3 and gunned the other Prime. Again, no help from #2.

W10, 1 min in,they go down (#2 in his usual bad location). I had enough and just stayed away.

Volus Merc, that more or less stayed in same area, killed lots of stuff with a PPR X, never used a decoy, drone, or revive anyone. And badmouthed all. Too bad I wasn't the Vorcha Soldier. I would have had that flamer in his face for 10 waves straight.

SE not SI? I generally consider the SE to be one of the weaker kits, except vs. Geth. Though with more shield-wielding Carebears in Gold vs. Br/Si, that helps I suppose. Still, an ostensibly caster class with a long CD sniper? Seems definitely sub-optimal. Though that may be your motivation!

Tips for employing decoy effectively?

So they didn't help in the W10 hack? I tend to get more worked up in Gold than I should, it's just a game after all. But nothing does that better than pugs not doing missions. I'm sure some will say that you can effectively help the hack by aggro'ing them elsewhere. But let's face it, 95%+ of them are just score-whoring or are clueless (likely both). And double-annoyance points for then (a) using missiles away from hack and (b ) using missiles on extraction (except to ensure safe extraction).

A long time ago I was told that missile kills were derated to something like 1/3 the points (maybe someone just trying to dissuade me from doing!). But I've checked and verified you get full 100%. Maybe would be a good idea in remaster to actually derate. Nah, then scrubs would use them less when they are needed.

Why Bother To Play?

Dropped into a plat hosted by DragonRising. I've played very briefly in one of his matches and it was clearly modded when I saw the amount of ammo I had. I didn't do wave 1 and dropped out. Tonight I stayed for the match and didn't do much.

Mobs were hovering in the air. PAs were going off without anyone hitting them. Each wave was sped up, lasting a minute or two. Wave 10 was escort and I watched nuclear explosions go off, taking group mob after group mob. I just stay at the LZ when wave 11 came. I didn't have to do anything. *shrug*
