Okay thanks guys for the input. So take Thane with Miranda on the Collector Vessel then? I won't use Grunt if he's not good. Or I guess I could take Jacob. I was thinking Concussive Shot was a good thing for Barriers, and obv. incendiary ammo is good. Take Zaeed and Garrus. Have them use the M-29 Incisor. Use the cain. Why? One word. Praetorian. It makes a difference on higher levels. Bonus weapon I use Collector assault weapon. If playing as a soldier, I use the Revenant since that weapon can only be used by a soldier. I usually play the dlc after completing the suicide mission.

I was thinking Concussive Shot was a good thing for Barriers, and obv. incendiary ammo is good. Which heavy weapon would you suggest for the Collector Vessel? I was gonna bring the Particle Beam again but maybe I shouldn't. Also, do you think the Geth Rifle is a good bonus weapon for an adept? I guess I consider LotSB such an epic DLC, it almost dwarfs the Suicide Mission. Doing it later seems to I guess extend the epicness of the game after the "ending." But I understand how important that respec terminal can be. I assume I can get by without doing it now, it just helps? Concussive Shot is low damage, but it deals 4x damage to barriers. It also has 12 second base cooldown. Up to you. I suggest taking the Avalanche for the Disabled Collector Ship. It makes the platforms section so much easier. You can do Lair of the Shadow Broker as early (after Horizon) or late as you want. But without the squadmate respec terminal, it will reduce the effectiveness of some of your squadmates. Regarding bonus weapons: - If you take assault rifles as your bonus weapon, I do not think the Geth Pulse Rifle is a good bonus weapon for the Adept. I think it is on par with the Avenger assault rifle which means I do not think it is a good weapon at all. The Vindicator or Mattock (DLC) are better bonus weapons. - If you take shotguns, the Geth Plasma Shotgun and Eviscerator are good on the Adept. Some players really like the Geth Plasma Shotgun since it is really good against shields and barriers; it can strip some shields/barriers in one shot, helping you with your biotics. - If you take sniper rifles, only the Viper is good. only the viper? Do you mean for adepts or for all classes because I find mantis to be far better and if I am a soldier I use the widow for a bonus weapon.

Even when keeping up with upgrades, there comes a point when you cannot one-shot kill a fully-shielded/barrier enemy with the Mantis on Insanity. That is why you need the Widow, or you stick to using the Viper as your sniper rifle.

I didn't check in to the board for like a week, and missed the good part of this thread!
Shotgun thoughts:
1. Adept is pretty powerful once you get the hang of it and some upgrades.
2. I agree with Red that most of the time other biotic squadmates are best with an Adept, although can do one biotic and one shield stripper.
3. Speaking of shield stripping, that is why you have a gun. SMG and Shotguns generally have good shield damage multipliers, and you start with one of those.
4. Assault Rifles are not that great a weapon choice for any class unless you have the Mattock.
5. Viper can work for shield stripping since it has hybrid multipliers. Shotgun is probably better unless you really need to stay ranged.
6. Sentinel is easiest class with some game knowledge.
7. Infiltrator is the easiest class if you haven't played ME2 before.
8. Speaking of old BSN, I started a thread on there claiming Infiltrator was the weakest ME2 class, and... really it is if you insist on pure SR single shot meta.
9. ME2 has the best class balance in the trilogy IMO. That is to say they are closest in power, each with some strengths and weaknesses. It isn't perfect, but it isn't like the situation in ME1 where hybrids were way better than the others and biotics were often better than tech. ME3 was also somewhat uneven, although it did improve somewhat with patches.
10. Singularity is very good for sticking elite enemies. Pull is the bread and butter adept power though.

I'm going to deviate a bit from popular consensus here and say Sentinel is the easiest class to do ME2 Insanity.
It is the class that can potentially have the best recharge speeds and has every tool for every situation straight out of the gate.
Vanguard and Infiltrator vie for second place; Tactical Cloak is an excellent panic button, and as much as I'm pro-Vanguard, I'm not a vain man. So I concede that Tactical Cloak is the safer option, given that it doesn't require a target and be used to get some space as well as close the gap.
But the risks of Biotic Charge are greatly minimized if you're smart about it; an Inferno-Ammo-equipped upgraded shotgun can one-shot through armor and damage health, and melee attacks can follow up. Plus, your abilities synergize AMAZINGLY with Miranda. Not so much with Infiltrator.
Still, this makes me think of that Spongebob meme with the bouncer:
"So how tough are ya?" -"I beat Mass Effect 2 on Insanity."- "Yeah, so?" -"As an Adept, WITHOUT Garrus or Miranda."- "Oh, uh, right this way sir, sorry to keep you waiting!"

With the sentinel you have a panic button too. That tech armor if it is set to the "explode" type you can just hit the tech armor button when your shields run low and it should be enough to run for cover before they break that shield down too. Once you get the assault rifle as a bonus weapon and get the mattlock rifle then it is pretty much overkill with the sentinel.

Finished the Collector Ship mission. Was tough, mainly because my AI comps didn't position themselves well - went through all my medi-gel. I did like the double warp bombs with Thane and Miranda. Picked up the Geth Plasma Shotgun. Have all loyalty missions left to do, and need to do the openers for Samara and Tali which I will do next, then do all the loyaltys. Still have some credits issues. The Personal Defense kiosk on Ilium still has about 3 upgrades I need but they aren't cheap.
One more level and I can max out Warp. I assume always use Unstable Warp since its faster CD?

Heavy Warp for Shepard, Unstable Warp for squadmates. Warp rank 4 is always base 6-second cooldown for Shepard. Unstable Warp only has a shorter cooldown for squadmates (from base 12 seconds to base 9 seconds)

Alright I have recruited everyone (minus Legion.) Now I'm starting the Loyalty missions. I've decided I'm going to do most boring characters first then the most interesting last. Jacob gets to go first. Number two most boring is harder.... But Jacob is easy.
P.S. With several upgrades now, and with Thane, I'm feeling much more in control and capable. Not dying much at all unless I somehow get flanked or my cover is destroyed.

Once you get the assault rifle as a bonus weapon and get the mattlock rifle then it is pretty much overkill with the sentinel. Teammate cooldown reset with Tech Armor is a big bonus if you are running good squadmates. It is in fact so good that it was supposed to be removed before the game shipped. Finished the Collector Ship mission. Was tough, mainly because my AI comps didn't position themselves well - went through all my medi-gel. Yes, ME2 squadmate survival is primarily about positioning. Positioning plays some role for Shep as well, but not quite as big relatively speaking. Generally the squad should be behind Shepard if you want them to survive without any gels (which is what I try to do in all three games... well more like no Unity in ME1) since there basically is not much in the way of squadmate tanking on Insanity. It is possible to spread the damage around to all three in the party, but Shepard has to still take the bulk of the damage since the squad usually isn't as durable. I try to put the squad in a good place at the beginning of the encounter, and try not to move them if they are being suppressed. Also, if they have all the aggro, sometimes you might want to delay ordering them to use a power. If they are taking a lot of fire, I try to switch aggro back to Shep with powers, going out of cover, etc. Kasumi management is a little bit different if you want her to use Shadow Strike (which I only heavily lean on during her mission). In that case, you want the evo that resets her cooldown when she kills an enemy, and send her to slap targets with low health that will definitely be killed. Then as she reappears, confirm her cover spot. Then continually repeat. She may as well be invulnerable when cloaked, and so that is a good way to keep her upright. I use heavy warp since, at least for me, it causes more damage Heavy Warp for Shepard, Unstable Warp for squadmates. Warp rank 4 is always base 6-second cooldown for Shepard. Unstable Warp only has a shorter cooldown for squadmates (from base 12 seconds to base 9 seconds) These. Alright I have recruited everyone (minus Legion.) Now I'm starting the Loyalty missions. I decided to do my loyalty missions in order of recruitment. Started with Jacob, then Miranda, Mordin next and then Grunt/Garrus/Jack (forgetting how I recruited everyone precisely oops!)
So, after I finish the suicide mission, Overlord, LotSB and Arrival - are there any other side missions from random planets I don't want to forget? There may be one that gives me an upgrade I missed already. And, any side missions that carry over into ME3 before I start ME3?

If you like to have a quick, hmmm, make that a very quick side mission, complete N7: Eclipse Smuggling Depot. Why that misssion? It's the one that involves recovering 20 crates. Why is it quick? Because when themikefest used the cain, it took him less than 15 seconds to complete the mission.

N7 Missions with Upgrades in Them:
1) N7: Anomalous Weather (Damage Protection) 2) N7: Strontium Mule (Heavy Skin Weave) (Note: Unlocks after doing N7: Archaeological Dig Site) 3) N7: Blood Pack Base (Heavy Weapon Ammo Upgrade) (Note: Unlocks after doing N7: Blood Pack Communications Relay)
I think that's all of them.

I believe you've already completed the dlc. In ME3, when talking with Cortez, there will be a dialogue choice to ask about the Hammerhead that was found in the firewalker dlc. If the dlc is not completed, Shepard can still ask about the Hammerhead.

Well guys, I finished ME2! Last night I did the Suicide Mission (everyone saved) - and tonight just finished Overlord and Shadow Broker - all on Insanity. My wrists hurt after Shadow Broker lol (I played on a controller on PC.) Thank you for all the adept input - it helped! I am going out of town for the weekend, but on Monday I plan to play Arrival on ME2, then immediately jump into ME3. I made a post on suggested mods for ME3 in the mod forum, if you would like to chime in (my first time playing with mods for ME3.) MISSION ACCOMPLISHED! P.S. ME2 looked fantastic at a higher resolution, better textures and 60fps on my PC. Used to playing on console - never again I think!
