Also going back to Gale I did see a clip where his projection speaks on his behalf to Shadowheart who is his love interest, and after he hugs her the projection says that he can't believe what he gave up to become a god. And yet he did give up, so this regret does not sound entirely sincere. Aren't most dnd Wizards power hungry though and isn't their goal godhood or lichdom? The logic here is not straightforward. For example, there is some powerful evil threatening the realm. While a hero cleric may rely on the corresponding good divine interference to help defeat this evil threat, a wizard does not have this type of backup. Mystra won't interfere directly or indirectly unless the balance of the weave itself is threatened. Mystra is just a power plant that imposes no limit on the power one can grab from the weave (on both sides) provided that it does not disturb the balance. Eventually it comes to whoever can grab more magical powers to defeat the opponent, be it on the good or bad side. Of course, there is also Elminster to save the realm if everything else fails. While being Mystra's chosen, he acts largely on his own and possesses immense power. In BG3 he's just a messenger and does not particularly fancy the message he has to bring to Gale trying to clearly distance himself from the subject. Seems like Mystra considers Gale's mere existence as a major threat to overall balance and would prefer this threat eliminated on its own through Gale's voluntary sacrifice despite Elminster having his own opinion on the matters. It is a very well written plot arc IMO.

akots I don't know much about dnd lore but I do know of other good wizards from the games like Blackstaff Arunsun, Eliminster, Gorion, the teacher from the Shadows of Undrentide, and one more I can't remember. I misspoke earlier when I said all the dnd wizards want either lichdom or godhood. But yeah I like Gale and will try to talk him out of using the crown, and I do agree his story is well done.

I know there are new endings, but did the Tavs/DUrges record new lines too or were they there before but broken? (I know from previous playthroughs that one of the female Tavs (8 I think?) had busted DUrge lines and never spoke them. I'm using the default female DUrge voice (6) and she's been saying a few new things. One of them is "Father" something or other. Which strikes me as odd considering I've just had her resist the URge and she's free of Bhaal. But I don't remember hearing some of these lines before. So I wonder if new lines were recorded or if they were always there and busted?

I have not been playing since I updated the game. The game gets stuck on an infinite loading screen before the main menu, and if the game loads when I start a new game and select a difficulty I am taken right back to the main menu. I am using no mods. I have since uninstalled the game until a hotfix is released.

After being distracted by my new pc and some new games, I thought it was time to give BG3 another spin and made this bad boy: Half-Drow, Dark Urge, Warlock (The Great Old One). Sadly didn't get that far in, because I had to work and now it's 2:45 AM so I probably shouldn't boot up the game. Anyway, ready for 'the ultimate racism experience', as I saw someone describe the Half-Drow, because the Drow hate you for not being Drow and everybody else hates you for being Drow. I absolutely love the way this dude looks. Should be in a Black Metal band biting off rats' heads on stage or something. Would I meet this dude in real life and he'd tell me has an irrestible urge to kill, I would believe him.

After I posted last night I did a fresh install and still have the same problem. I play the GOG version by the way if that matters.

After I posted last night I did a fresh install and still have the same problem. I play the GOG version by the way if that matters. Could try switching off GOG overlay for the game. Saw it worked for some. Haven't really tried modding, so might be way off base (and you might have tried it already) but maybe try checking the LarianStudios folder in the Local Appdata and see if there are any files hiding in the Mods folder and moving the PlayerProfiles->Public->Modsettings file to the desktop and see if the game plays nice without it. Since I remember you having an Aasimar mod way back when and if there are some pesky lingering files making a fuss over the new patch.

Started a new game as a Dark Urge which I have never done before. I am playing as a male Githyanki Fighter. Never realized how thin the males are in their armor they seem normal build. I am still on the Nautaloid but already I have seen some new dialogue and responses for a Gith. I played the superior card when freeing Shadowheart. As for my characters goals I do not know yet we will see as the game progresses. I do know however that I will be recruiting Minthara by not slaughtering the Grove or maybe he will. Don't know yet like I said this time around I am going to be roleplaying better than my first time around.
Also talking about my first time playing. I finally completed my first playthrough. I was an Aasimar Oath of the Ancients Paladin. Shadowheart did not kill her parents nor did she give into Viconia who surprisingly was the Night Mother or whatever the rank is. Gale became a teacher. Karlach went to Avernus. I forgot the rest. But the game is fun.
In no particular order here are my top 5:
Baldur's Gate 3 Morrowind Dragon Age: Origins Planescape: Torment Knights of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lords

Rivers running red, and whatnot: Game looks stellar on my new rig and runs like a dream, regularly hitting 240 FPS with every setting on max. Honestly didn't expect this much of a noticeable difference in how crisp the game looks. Anyway, playing with super vanilla builds: PC - Warlock 12 (the Great Old One) Lae'zel - Battlemaster 12 or Battlemaster 8/Gloomstalker 4, undecided still Astarion - Evoker 12 Shadowheart - Cleric (Trickery) 12 Though Shadowheart will most likely not reach level 12. I intend to have Lae'zel murder her in one of the camp scenes, if that's an option. I know the other way around is possible, having Shadowheart kill her. She will be replaced by a Minthara and/or a hireling until I get Minthara Minthara - Cleric (War) 12. Or Trickery 12. I like having a Cleric who can always talk to the dead, even after killing them. List of murdered companions: Gale - dehanded. Probably stuck in a rock right now. Karlach - killed in battle upon meeting

Took Finn the Vengeance Paladin out for a short spin. He's been waiting in camp as I went through Rogue Trader and then Greedfall 2 EA, but I decided to wake him up, at least for a short burst. Killed and Owlbear and some faux-Paladins.

Did you mean to put that post in this thread? Once again I went into the Zhent lair for a bit of trading, ended up blowing up the place and descending to the Underdark via winched lift at least one level too soon. It's becoming a tradition the number of times I've done it now.

I've only seen this scene as part of the party/after-party, but I haven't been to the Goblin Camp yet. It must be triggered by Shadowheart's approval. Interesting. Wonder what I get at the party this time then.

Yesterday I did a bunch of Underdark stuff including the Arcane tower which got me to 5th level. At which point I felt ready for Ethel. Still disappointed they increased the weight of the Mundane Chest so you can't use it like a bag of holding any more. Killed Ethel in the Teahouse which made the rest of her lair into a leisurely stroll. Being 5th level with 3 martial characters (Paldin Tav, Lae'zel, Karlach) meant I could take her down in one round, especially after Shadowheart Entagled and Lae'zel tripped her so all the attacks had Advantage. On to the Goblin Camp! Yes I've left that until last for this area just so I'm overpowered. I'm considering a frontal assault with Ogre support for the lulz.

First the game insists on me talking to things so a straight assault is out - although that does mean I could rescue Volo and Cub - then when the action hots up the Ogres aren't that special and then walk away afterwards taking that sweet amulet with them.

Finally got the scene where Lae'zel wants to shank you for transforming and then the first scene with the Dream Guardian. I say finally because I'm already at the Grymforge, like actually at the forge itself about to make some neat armour. This is by far the latest this has come up. I wonder what the triggers are. As a side not I've decided to make Karlach a Throwbarian. Mostly sticking with the returning pike for the moment. It's effective, but I'm not sure it's fun. Just gave her the first level of Rogue/Thief (at 6th level total). Which means I can also stop using Lae'zel for lockpicking which should allow me to vary my party more. Except that Lae'zel is so awesome in combat that it'll be had to leave her behind. Plus, after the forge it'll be mountain pass time and I'll want her in the party for that.

I say finally because I'm already at the Grymforge, like actually at the forge itself about to make some neat armour. This is by far the latest this has come up. I wonder what the triggers are. Pretty sure the triggers are getting close to the Goblin camp or trying to leave the map (top of the hill past the drinking Goblins and cross the bridge after the Gith encounter). Aka getting to see the artifact do it's thing. Figure it would make sense in the way since at the point the Absolute "Sees" you and starts trying to influence you, gets artifact blocked and starts sending "turn into squid now" letters forcing the guardian to make contact to try and keep you from ending yourself and trying to push you to get a move on. Guessing you didn't long rest between the raid and the party so the party which would delay it even more. Or you had some other scenes during the rest between which took priority. Haven't got time to test it now but figure some point in the Grymforge should probably trigger it as well if you'd managed to avoid the two other places. Guess I know what I'll be doing this evening. Edit: Had time. It triggers when you open the gate to the elevator to the top side. Which means Shadowheart will brave the Underdark to wave it at you.
