Yet to play the patch, but I'm hoping for performance improvement and patching out the memory leak. They mentioned Vulcan stability but I found DX11 to somewhat run better on my system, maybe I'll give it a run. I'm happy to report that the game works well now for me on Vulkan, and also looks hell of a lot better than before the patch. I think my previous performance problems were somewhat related to the autosave function, probably it was put on an infinite loop every time it was called, maybe because of my anti-virus. To play I needed yesterday to make an exception for the BG3 folder as my anti-virus identified the launcher as a virus for some reason. I've started a Half Elf Warlock, don't know if it's because I know the game better, but the start went smoother than with my wizard pre-patch. I'm worried about possible camera issues that players reported, especially in indoor areas, but so far so good. Hopefully I will be able to finish act 1 before the next savegame reset, I got as far as the Githyanki patrol in my pre-patch playthrough.

I'm a bit confused since I was expecting story changes as promised, and I'm not seeing any of those. But...
Astarion's sex scene got more animations. Not gonna complain.

They rewrote how they managed flags and fixed a bunch of broken ones. They also added Bart's Amulet. edit: and fixed stuff at Waukeen's Rest too.

The combat system is making me pull my hair out Plus WASD is for WALKING, not camera movement Srly Larian Studios WTFReally? i found it normal for this type of RPGs Reminds me when i realized that PoE had 2D backgrounds, i was really annoyed by that. Now, i got into my third character (made it the other day after the patch), and i managed to "Speed run" act 1 (the important bits ofc): So i went full evil cunt on this one: I swear she looks like Kelly from ME2 - Our Villan Hero, Galvarino (shouldn't used that name for an evil run). - Well, nature is a bit messed up, sometimes... - Guy knows how to play. - I tried to replicate Sebille from DOSII, alas, this is as close as i got... - Bruh moment - About to commite war crimes - First one to bail the ship. - Another about to bail the ship. - The only one enjoying himself for the deed done. - "It was an accidente, i swear it!" I wasn't expecting that last scene with the Drow at the end, silly me...

Plus WASD is for WALKING, not camera movement Srly Larian Studios WTFDepends. I play more strategy games than anything else plus a bunch of isometric RPGs and, from that perspective, WASD is usually for camera movement, not walking.

Finished a second playthrough. I was able to recruit Wyll this time! Somehow Gale hasn't died in my playthroughs. Maybe I should let him next time...
Before I got the game, I was worried I would get tired of playing it by the time the full release came out, but that is definitely not the case!

Bought the game yesterday and made a Tiefling warlock, Great Old Ones (love the Lovecraft reference here). I like the game so far, but am contemplating to reroll a cleric, because Shadowheart really annoys me. She constantly sounds like a spoiled kid, that doesn't get its wishes. And I can't decide, which class to play. Can I change the class in release, when more classes are available or do I have to start over then? I'd like to play a druid or bard.

I can't agree about anything with Shadowheart and she is really annoying. I like Gale and Wyll so far, I guess, they are considered the good companions.

You have the red tiefling near the river, you have someone named Helia, and apparently Minsc is a full-on companion in BG3. I expected Minsc to show up, but having him as a full companion makes me ask questions. At least I hope he's more useful than he was in the older BG games.

Shadowheart reminds me too much of Morrigan - another character I really don't care for. The bitchywitch trope is used too often lately. I'm hoping for some more interesting characters in the full game. Although... The thought of having to deal with Minsc again, is annyoing. I can't get the hype for that character.

She's quite nice once you manage to break that barrier (require you to bring her around the map to trigger certain events).

While Gale is needy/his personal quest could be annoying, he isn't evil alignment. In the video below that I saw on Reddit of an evil playthrough he gets quite upset with evil actions:

In DAO at least Morrigan disapproved of good/helpful actions the pc took. Her character is more complex than simple alignments, but I do think she generally fills the role of evil-aligned companion in DAO.

His storyline is about magical power gain. And while he gets upset about evil actions, the guy did try to turn yourself into a god, not giving a damn that the last time what he did was attempted it crashed the Weave for years and destroyed the most advanced nation in Fearun. datamined info, don't read if you don't want to be spoiled things that aren't in the EA (yet) he has a betrayal scene later in Act 1, only happens if you refuse Raphael's deal.
While Shadowheart only interest is finishing her mission and getting validation from her goddess...also mind screwed.

Well, I have parked Shadowheart in the camp for now.
I really can't decide what to play. I have the Tiefling warlock, the Woodelf ranger , a Drow thief... and even tried a Githyanki mage. I really can't decide. Any suggestions? What was fun fo you to play?

Everything? I liked: - Ranger (hunter, beastmaster is so-so unless you take the spider) - Warlock (both, GOO is more control oriented) - my Light Cleric was a really good tank - Warrior Battlemaster is easy-pea I like the wizard versatility, but I prefer more "tankish" PC.

In this latest play through, I have ended up mostly running with Astarion. It seems to be quicker to do so in certain areas. I still have a full party with me, but I just unchain and send my PC and Astarion engage in a number of the fights. Due to this, I think it will be fun to make a Rogue and just have a duo party with Astarion. Might eventually do it with all the characters, just to hear all the missed dialogue that happens because some characters will take precedence during certain story periods. You end up missing some interesting/funny dialogue (but that does encourage replay ).

I will never understand why people insist on trying to shoehorn characters from completely different franchises into traditional DnD alignments. In fact, I don't understand why DnD even has alignments to begin with. I can't imagine how it remotely aids roleplaying or character development. If anything, it only seems like it would stifle those things. But I only ever played it once, so what do I know.
