Trying really hard to avoid spoilers in this thread, but looking at the screen shots of both gameplay and cinematics...I am getting a very strong Dragon Age: Origins vibe. Is that an accurate impression? Allowing for the difference in rule set and RTWP vs turn based, of course. Right now it's an accurate impression, just with more surface caught in fire, more dialogue tags (i.e. race, classes, origins) and interactive objects. Just to add to this, the environment plays a greater role in combat overall. It's always worth looking around to see how you can use elements in the environment to your advantage, esp. in the major battles. Smart play is definitely rewarded here.

Played some more today, just trying out some different things. Spike Growth is great btw. It covers a large area, so it's great in choke-points, and it chews enemies up quite well, esp. if they have to cross the bulk of it. Ran into some new bugs though. Wyll got stomped by the Harpies (I forgot most enemies just gang up on your weakest member), but since he fell in the bushes it was impossible to revive him. The PC also picked up some sort of proximity damage bug in camp. Whatever I walked near (or walked near me) took massive damage. eg. I'd walk past crates and tables and they would just explode. Gale simply walked past me and it just about killed him. A number of cutscenes bugged out in new ways too (at least since the time I played last). I do like that your companions follow you easier now, if you're jumping, etc., however, they'll still blindly walk into known hazards while following you. I really hope they fix that in the final game. Just a few more random pics from today. I'm just about to deal with the tollhouse crew.

Hello everyone,
We have just released another hotfix for you!
With this hotfix we’ve addressed some of the most common crashing issues, a few dialogue trigger points getting stuck, and an issue with inventory being empty after pickpocketing a party member. And please note if you are experiencing crashes on startup or getting an error message about .pak files when loading savegames, please verify your files.
To access the latest updates to the game, make sure you have opted out of all beta branches on Steam and have your game set to automatically update. This will bring through the most up to date version of the game for you.
Changelist: Fixed certain dialogue trigger checkpoints not working or getting stuck. This was related to being in Wild Shape while triggering dialogues. Fixed a possible crash when saving. Fixed a crash related to a VRAM leak. Fixed a crash related to PhysX materials. Fixed a crash when viewing tooltips by hovering over combatants while someone joins or leaves the game. Fixed a rare crash when entering character creation. Fixed a rare crash when an object falls into a chasm. Fixed a crash related to incorrect or corrupted game files. Fixed a crash related to closing containers if too many were opened by pressing escape quickly. Fixed empty inventory after pickpocketing a party member.

Made some decent progress over the last couple of days. Made friends with the Zhents after rescuing them from the gnolls. They have a good vendor in their hideout. I'll rob them later when I get bored. Later, I managed to talk our way out of the Gith fight (thankfully)... Briefly went back to the Druid Grove to do some looing there. I noticed that in bird form, I was able to pick up the key and other items from the small bird's nest without it being considered "stealing". It is a bit annoying though that you suddenly find yourself encumbered because some animal forms are weaker strength-wise. And being familiar with the encounters now I have to remind myself to take long rests to move the story progression along. But this competes with my wanting to be as efficient with my "uptime" as possible. Next up was Ethel. I made sure to clear out all the hostiles in the swamp and her lair first before tackling her. Made sure I had all the right spells, yadda-yadda-yadda. But as it turns out, I over-prepared! I stealthed everyone into position, lowered the cage, then let her have it. Lae'zel and Astarion brought the pain, then the Druid with the last little love-tap to make her submit. Didn't even need Gale. She was down before even having a chance to act. See Swen, that's how it's done. Then onto the Blighted Village. I carried a couple of exploding Gith tanks along with a number of firewine barrels just for this occasion. You know why.

For fun, I thought I'd try a solo run at the Spider Matriarch (and friends) today. Turns out, it was probably my most efficient run at her so far... Essentially, I juiced up my Druid on, well... everything. Prot. from Poison, both the Flame Blade and Flame Axe (FA in main ofc), Invis., Sharpness, Hill Giant Str. Started off with some happy-slashing to weaken her, then yeeted her and her spawn off with a Thunderwave. After that, it was just a couple of stragglers to deal with.

I also wanted to mention that Flaming Sphere is pretty fun if you can find a good hiding spot, then just roll the ball around killing your enemies. The sphere can't be harmed, and most don't even know to respond to it.

I just watched a stream where the player (druid dwarf char) went evil and attacked the grove. He romanced Minthara and there's a romance scene. What's is that the dwarf ended on the ground, Minthara was in the air. About a metre above. It was hilarious.

So I tried saving the gnome. Apparently some dialogue should be triggered when you come close, but every time I tried I entered battle immediatly. And that's a big ass group, I didn't want that. So I looked for an other way. Found a spot where you can get behind the mill, without being spotted too if you wait until the doglooking thingy turns away. This took me waaaay more tries than I would like to admit, but ultimately I got everyone behind the mill. Excellent, let's press the button to stop the mill from spinning. *characters move* *cutscene for Shadowheart triggers *high persuasion check, twice I spent about half an hour reloading until I passed all the checks So, finally, it was time for battle. My plan was to lure them one by one, using forced turn based mode at opportune times. Worked like a charm for the first one, but then I messed up and entered battle with the whole group. Anyway, long story short: all this was entirely unnecassary. If you just kill the boss, the whole group surrenders. And the boss is like... right there when you run up to the group the 'normal' way. I had good fun the whole 2 hours this lasted though

I just had that fight yesterday as well. I did misremember the encounter though because I thought it started with a cutscene with the goblin boss. But no, it jumped right into combat the moment I approached. And while it took a moment, I did remember that all you needed to do was beat the boss down. Which was good because I didn't have anyone in position for that fight.

Which was good because I didn't have anyone in position for that fight. I think it start with a cutscene if you have Wyll in the party, as he wants to talk to the goblin leader.

I just had that fight yesterday as well. I did misremember the encounter though because I thought it started with a cutscene with the goblin boss. But no, it jumped right into combat the moment I approached. And while it took a moment, I did remember that all you needed to do was beat the boss down. Which was good because I didn't have anyone in position for that fight. I think it start with a cutscene if you have Wyll in the party, as he wants to talk to the goblin leader. Interesting... so something either changed or was bugged. I had Wyll in the party. I always bring him along for the goblin storyline. I did get a cutscene after defeating the goblin boss where the two talk.

While, when Wyll isn't the party, that group turn red right away. That was all pre patch 3 thought. I haven't played since.

I remember I didn't have Wyll in the party in the first encounter so they went red immediately as I've already attacked the other goblins. After this, I didn't bother to walk right up to them but attacked them from the roof top. There was a PT in which I had Wyll in the party and the fight stopped when the chief yelled surrender and there's a cutscene in which I could choose to let him go or kill him after the dialogue.
