Larian Studios is releasing BG3 on August 31st 🥳 @larianstudios Return to Baldur's Gate for the first time in 20 years as the iconic city prepares for war. Rediscover legendary locations, uncover new mysteries, and embark on a journey to shape the city's destiny.
I'm literally exploring Baldur's Gate in my current playthrough of BG1, and I love how Larian has done Sorcerous Sundries in particular. It's one of my favorite buildings in all of the infinity engine games!
I took a break from BG3 EA, and got DOS2 on sale for 18 doll hairs. 137 hours in, and I STILL haven't left Reaper's Coast! I can only imagine how many hours my first full play through of BG3 will be (especially since I know how long I generally spend in the EA Act 1 area)...sooooo, see ya'll in 2024! HA!
Larian Studios is releasing BG3 on August 31st 🥳 @larianstudios 15 years before the events of Baldur's Gate 3, the streets of the city ran red with blood.
Tavs, we need your help. Will your sharp analytical minds unravel these heinous killings before the murderer strikes again?

Getting close now...
I recently learned a friend of mine is keen to get this and asked if I'd be interested in the occasional MP session. Normally, I avoid MP like the plague, but this is a person I am friends with in real life and it might be fun. The question I have relates to storefronts.
I will likely be getting BG3 on GoG, but he will only use Steam (doesn't do much gaming, doesn't want another storefront). Will we be able to play together, assuming both have the required Larian account? I did do some Googling, but the confident answers - yes - were all from 2020, and the more recent ones were, "um, probably...?"
So, does anyone know how well this will work?

Do you think that this will set the bar now for how people expect major cities to be handled? I haven't played the game (yet) but I watched the promotional trailer and it does look impressive. Bioware are going to look pretty bad if, say, Minrathous doesn't match up. However, their concept art looked promising, even though the majority was labelled Antiva City rather than Minrathous, so I am hoping they come through on this.
I've been looking through the system requirements on PC for BG3. Has anyone had experience of this? Also, whilst it is a different engine from DA:D, do you think the requirements will be broadly similar? It is one of the most frustrating parts of the long wait for information that they haven't even indicated what the minimum requirements will be to run DA:D on PC since I need to know before replacing my current one.

From their support page (https://larian.com/support/faqs/multiplayer-information_53): Is there Cross Play?
As of Patch 9, Direct Connection works between Steam and GOG on PC & Mac.

Thanks - it's a little weird that didn't show up in the search I did...
Also, more than a little weird I didn't think to check that directly myself, I suppose. I guess I'm just used to games not saying anything works or will work until the day before release

I hope, that Baldurs Gate will be very impressive, in the trailer, the city looks massive. I didn't really follow DAD much, since I'm not sure, If I will buy the game ( I had massive problems getting EA games to run in the past). But I guess, that Larian will set the expectations for cities in the future high. They already have some really impressive maps in early access, for example the Underdark.
As for requirements, I would guess it to be similar to DAD. I don't have the newest machine and BG3 runs smoothly. I would really recommend it for you, it so far has an interesting story, very well done characters and tons of lore

I'm reading that the PC release has moved. To 3rd August.
I guess it makes sense to get out from underneath Starfield's feet...

They did say that they gave themselves room when they announced the date. The PS5 thought as pushed back to September 6th (because they want 60 fps instead of 30).
And the stuff mentioned in it his pure insanity. - 11 species with 31 subraces (10 of the subraces are for Dragonborn) - 12 classes & 46 subclasses. - max level 12
More cinematic dialogue than three times all three Lord of the Rings novels combined. It has 174 hours of cinematics, making it more than twice the length of every season of Game of Thrones combined. WTF!
Dragonborn looks awesome...
Origins: Karlach gets added (Barbarian) And there are 4 more companions: Halsin, Jaheira, Minsc and Minthara. So 10 total and they are almost all romanceable. People who wanted Halsin romanceable got their wishes.

They also mentioned they will reveal the final origin in their next panel, so make that 11?

I fast read the update, so 11 instead of 10.
But most players have more chance of killing Minthara than recruiting her when they first meet her, unless they changed early Act 1 a lot.
New release date is AWESOME!!! Gives me almost 3 weeks to play before my hiking trip. Won't finish it and still will have to push back Starfield but that's fine. I am SO excited!!!
I should get my new PC assembled next week if all goes well. I will not have a new GPU yet. Still waiting for prices to drop some more. My 1080Ti would probably still work out for BG3, Starfield not so much though. So if I'm going to upgrade I might as well do it for BG3 already.

Oh my god.
It's 8:50am and I need a drink after reading all of that.
It's kind of overwhelming.

I have no PC so I'll be waiting patiently for the console drop.

So much stuff has dropped. This game is starting to feel so much like Origins from all the news I've read. Can't wait for the 3rd. I Just built a PC last week and officially made the switch to PC gaming. I am ready!
