Some Alice posting with Act 3 spoilers Defeated Orin with the Power of Friendship. AKA ignored the dumb duel and let Lae'zel at her. Had the satisfaction of Eldritch blasting her into the chasm as a final blow, but she came crawling back. She always does. Said no to Daddy because he's a meanie. And what's the point of ruling the world if you have to kill yourself once you reach the top? Did that sometime ago. Today she finally stopped admiring the architecture and loafed around in the city a little. Been eyeing the Fireworks shop for a while since they've got explosives but not sure how to get to them. Or well. I know plenty of ways to get to them but ideally I want them not to go boom. So went to the House of Grief instead. Made a point of dragging Shadowheart through the city but wasn't getting any special dialog so ended up looking it up before visiting Viccy. Who would have destroyed us if Astarion and Alice weren't massive cowards hanging in the back and just popped an invisibility potion, rezzed Lae'zel and Shadowheart and cheezed round two. Then was dumb and let Viccy go so no sexy dress for me. I don't get Nocturne. Or well I get her but why the heck aren't you joining in the Enclaves defence? Feels so weird to have her just hanging around alone right next to the main chamber where the whole battle went down. Personally think it would make more sense to encounter her early and maybe have to convince her or something. Finally found the Mirror of Loss. Or well interacted with it. But am operating on one braincell so didn't figure how to get a stat increase so just figured that Shar said "No." seeing as how we've been raining on her parade. And for once Shadowhearts parents make it out alive. Nice. It's been 5 runs... And being a contrarian I do wish the hug was optional during the rest scene. Like when they are dead I'm all for giving her a squeeze and 10+ for the addition but sometimes you just want to be bit emotionally stunted. And now back to a purgatory of indecision. Do we add another Daddy to our collection and tick of Gortash? Or enjoy the easy way out? Don't particularly want to deal with the Steel Watch but wouldn't mind having a chaperone for Karlach once I tell her to "Go to Hell". That is of course accounting that I get to keep the decision save if I pick world domination, since sadly I can't switch to multi save even if I lost the Honor Mode. And Epilogue > World domination.

I don't know why I didn't think of this before, but isn't there a major plothole when talking to Florrick in Act 2? Unless there are two guys named Gortash kicking around, I've got a letter in my pack which implicates Gortash in the Grand Duke's kidnapping. But there's no option to mention it to her.
It's not actually a problem for this run; since I didn't remember it myself until Florrick departed, my PC didn't either. But the name should ring a bell for some PCs, shouldn't it? There is a lot of things like that in the game. Like the Ketheric's bust at the Last Inn + reading all the (mostly hidden) dairy/letters at Moonrise Tower about Isobel that you can't mention to her. It seems to be mostly hints to the player and not the characters in the game. But, there is something hidden in early act 3 (on Rivington map) that if you find (there is no spot check for it or anything, the only hint is a painting), you can use it to rightfully expose Gortash the first time you meet him at the Wyrm Rock fortress.

I see the plaque at Isobel's tomb is still bugged. Can't believe they haven't fixed that.

Rosymorn Monastery So pretty So stupid But I want her oracular. So painful Curiously this time I was able to suss the zaith'isk was a fraud after just one session for Lae'zel, so she only lost 1pt of Int before breaking it. Last time I was here it took 3 stat points and I had to use all the tadpoles in the labs to cure her. So gullible Thanks for the egg and the boots chump. So dead I made a bit of a mistake here. On my way past the two gith near the doors I dropped a couple of smokepowder barrels. As soon as things kicked off I Scorching Ray'd them both. But I'd miscalculated the blast radius and got caught up in it. They were both dead, but I was downed. Fortunately Lae'zel and Karlach were able to beat this chump into bits before he got an action. So many lies Got Lae'zel to go along with my dissembling. So many more lies I don't remember this scene from the last time I was here, but not sure how I could have missed it. Still, I let the Visitor get away with it even though her pants were on fire. Somehow got Lae'zel to approve of my actions. So epic One of these days I'll have to see what happens if I don't use the Crest to disarm the Solar Lance. Pity I can't activate it after I've left to collapse the place. So that's done. Grymforge next.

Okay, so this time, I let my PC use the zaith'isk. Lae'zel wasn't too happy, but it looks like I came away with some kind of parasite boost... but I'm not sure what it is. EDIT: Found it. So I can use tadpole powers... which I have none... as a bonus action. Ghustil does stand out among the Githyanki crowd. I wonder if she based off someone...

Just beat Yurgir for the first time ever. Other times I either got around the fight in dialogue, or lost, reloaded, and then used dialogue. But this time I blundered into him on the path where you just start fighting without talking. It wasn't even a great party for this. Cleric PC, Shadowheart, Karlach, and Wyll -- definitely should have brought Gale instead for AOE action. Very cinematic last couple of seconds. Yurgir does his bomb thing right before Karlach drops him. One of the minions downs Tav right in the middle of a cluster. So Shadowheart Jumps down to him, her Spirit Guardians finish off the minion, and then she Dimension Doors out with Tav before detonation.
Sure, she could have just Revivified him later, but this is cooler.

Something's been nagging me about the whole Nightsong business. Maybe I've missed the right dialogues or something but... ... so, Ketheric's been accepting temporary shutdowns in his invulnerability for years, since every time a Dark Justiciar rises he's vulnerable until Aylin comes back. And after many decades, he's decided that enough is enough, and he'd rather have the source of his invulnerability someplace he actually controls, rather than the Gauntlet.
That much makes sense. But why didn't he do this years or decades ago?

Hi, long time no see. 6 months actually since I finished the game for the first time. Haven't even checked out the new epilogues yet. I have just created my second character: RASZKIRR Dark urge (resisting, maybe) Necromancer I went complete edgelord cheese with this one. Guardian: I am not entirely happy with his look. I didn't want to go Asian who fled a JRPG recently. But I liked the other faces even less. So this will have to do.

Powered through the crèche and vacuumed up all the glorious loot. (Definitely took a bit of time sorting through it all.) I have a soft spot for the trainees though, so... they got to walk away with a headache. Taking down Vlaakith with the rebels and the Githzeri would have made for a fun DLC. Then it was just a matter of picking up the Blood of Lathander and the rest of the loot. We've only taken a few long rests, so I almost forgot about this little rascal. And then... El. (Or at least a reasonable facsimile. ) Onto Moonrise...

Haven't been posting lately but we've still been playing. Done most of the Shadowlands now, house of healing, Masons guild, coin house, Halsin's quest, and moonrise tower - which since I went straight to the Grand mausoleum last time I'm seeing it's early content for the first time. We saved all the tiefling and deep gnomes in the dungeon but still haven't found Mol. Had a long rest after all the guard fighting where Gale showed us his little illusion. The barbarian had a chat with the murderous kitty, and with the disturbing cook that likes controlling gnolls. And we met up with K'rell (sp?) and Diana distracted herself with lustful thoughts of Astarian during her mind reading XD. She gave us leave to get a moon lantern from Balthazar's office and we took the opportunity to raid it for loot, break into his secret room, where Gale had a nice little moment with Mystra after destroying the shadow sigils. Then we broke into Ketheric's bedroom and my cleric used animal handling to convince the undead doggo all was well. After looting the rooms and defeating the mimic we headed back down and talked to the merchants. I took Astarian when shopping at the drow Alchemist as I'd heard he had a special dialogue there, I suppose that's a fairly typical drow woman attitude to men. We quit outside the grand mausoleum. Also the ranger started a romance with Lae'zel, watching them duel without having seeing the context for it was funny. It was LONG cause she's an eldritch Knight/wizard in this playthrough and kept shielding against his attacks . I also played my act 3 druid a little Stocked up on potions and went after Gortash, flew from the shop above the Harper safe house to the rock and climbed up to a balcony. From that snuck to another balcony and climbed scaffolding to the roof and Gortash's quarters. We snuck in invisible, stationed around him and attacked. Very effective, karlach would trip attack him giving everyone advantage on attacking him each round, Wyll kept silence on him whilst stabbing, my druid blasted him with sunbeams and all three of them chugged speed potions for extra actions/attacks. Astarian divided his attention between sneak attacking Gortash when he was down and picking off the minions. no pesky robots to bother us with the factory gone but there were weird bomb yeeting devices in the walls, Astarian just picked them up and threw them at the minions. At one point Gortash tried turning into something but karlach just rnlarged herself and kept knocking him over then wailing on him with 3 more attacks. So much quicker and easier than Raphael. Karlach finally had a break down about everything that's happened to her and her death or hell situation once Gortash was dead. Back in Camp she asks Mirai to be there with her when she dies. Since Mirai's fiancee is already planning on becoming the blade of Avernus down there I'm hoping we can convince karlach to come with us instead of dying up on faerun. On to rescue Lae'zel from Orin next.

Onwards to Orin Mirai headed into the tombmaker office and on to the bhaal tribunel where we meet Sarevok complete with his funky helmet. I was fine to show them Gortash's hand/spirit thing but I wasn't up for murderering the investigator, no matter how annoying he is, so ended up fighting him and all his murdettes. So apparently he's orins grandpa-- AND father. Yeugh Onwards to the temple, probably wasn't supposed to find the dock with all those cranium rats first, since Orin left so many bodies lying about we went in with skeletons and zombies, i do love spore druids. She was peeved we killed granpappy but Mirai managed to convince her to not attack Lae'zel since we killed gortash (really needed the guidance, bardic inspiration, and magic bolstering buffs for that one, even with advantage) Tougher fight than Gortash, didn't have any speed potions. But still got her down before the last chanting cultist fell. Found what looks like the corpse of default durge in her bedroom along with her mum, whom Sarevok apparently urged to kill her, maybe my cleric/thief will see if she can discover that first and see what happens when you tell her next time. Freed Lae'zel and brought the orthic hammer to voss where she got her silver sword, no idea how I'm going to get in the astral prism, but random citizins have started turning into mindflayers on the streets, as i discovered when i went to buy potion ingredients.😬

OK, I'm definitely never trying a straight-up frontal assault on Moonrise Towers again. We won, but too much carnage for my tastes. Hunger of Hadar/Black Hole at a choke point is something I'm going to have to start using myself.

In Act II, I had a couple of goals... One - recruit Minthara (if possible). I hadn't done it before, and honestly, I wasn't even sure I had done everything required to keep her alive. I basically walked into her office, knocked her out, looted her stuff (obviously)... and left. Apparently, that was enough. I haven't gotten to the point of actually recruiting her yet, but she was alive when I arrived at Moonrise. Two - progress the Raphael/Astarion deal. I missed that subplot the first time around. I also played out the Mol/Raphael game a little differently this time. I made sure she lost. I think I'll also experiment with giving Astarion a tadpole or ten, just to see what they do. Recruited Halsin and now experimenting with some Spore Druid/Life Cleric fromage (which I haven't tried before). Having some fun with gear too. I'm turning Shadowheart into a reverberating nightmare, and I'm switching up my main PC from S&Sh to DW with Render of Mind & Body, the Knife of the Undermountain King, the Risky Ring, and a few other choice items. Will experiment with a real crit-fishing build once I have a few more choice items. Also debating the merits of the Yuan-ti armor vs the Dwarven Splintmail... The sky-high AC was nice while it lasted... This will be a pretty nice toy. I'm pretty deep into Act II at this point. I almost made the mistake of going deep into Shar's Gauntlet before hitting Moonrise, till a little voice in my head reminded me I might, juuuust might, be doing this in the wrong order.

Sooo... I've completely changed my mind, I'm going full evil durge. He'll break SH and then romance her. I figure a psycho like him can smell vulnerable abused child from a mile off. He'll delight in messing with her and having her embrace all the darkness and wretchedness of her awful religion, ruining her. I also changed his hair to blood red highlights to go better with his sinister aura. Blue looks better but too much like an elemental mage. Got the spider robe from the cave and it looks so good on him: Love how he always looks like a complete arrogant prick, lol. His journey has been hilarious from the start. Like five minutes into waking up on the beach he gets Gale killed... Spoiler tags for durge stuff and screenshots. Chopped Gale's hand off, oops! I thought he was just going to fantasize about it. My bad. But no big loss since Gale leaves the party anyway if you kill the Grove, I think. Also this way I can't get ninja romanced by him again. Win-win! Did not take Scratch home. This might be the saddest moment in the game, lol. Had a chat with our favorite devil. I intend to take his deal. Can't wait for what happens. Also, we all know what else he'll do... Seriously, anybody who can't see this guy is bad news deserves to be manipulated and murdered. Second casualty is of course the poor bard. I knew about this one. I think it's the only one you can't do anything about? Well, Raszkirr was very happy he got away with it. Fools! Third victim was sweet Arabella... that one hurt. But well, I'm committed to being evil now. Pushed the kid into running and getting bitten. Gotta love how my party is made up of bad people. Both Astarion and Laezel liked that. Good grief, they're ALL monsters. SH was "no comment", lol. Figures with her upbringing. Frightened the children, naturally. Ran after Mol who then snitched on my drow and now Mol won't talk to me anymore. So I can't go steal the idol for her to mess with the druids. Oh, well. Fourth person who died was Nettie, she just wouldn't stop with the poison, what was he to do?? I assumed this would aggro the grove but it doesn't. Idiots. Next up was Barcus, flying off the windmill beautifully! Talked to his corpse afterwards. Then he agreed to hunt down Karlach with Wyll and well he did... This way I at least can't pine for her anymore! *g* Briefly put her camp clothes on and was tempted for a full five minutes to walka round shirtless from now on. My long rest events went very diffrently this time. My durge's evilness is apprently super hot so he had sex with Laezel because why not? I gotta say, he looks hot AF here: Laezel still looks like beef jerky but my guy isn't picky. I failed the intimidation check like 10 times and then the actual sex scene is super vague and tame. No dominence there. Very disappointing. Save scummed for nothing. The regular sex scene is much longer, why is that? Larian, you have a dominatrix fetish, admit it! Astarion's little visit happened on the fourth long rest I think, not the first. And the prick is STILL neutral. Is this game mocking me, like seriously? This time he likes EVERYTHING I do. I let him have a go at it so long he killed my drow. That was hilarious. His reaction after resurrection was hysterical. Worst liar in history, Astarion. You really are the most shameless creature... Raszkirr was not amused: But since he's fucked up in the head he also kinda enjoyed it and said next time, let me know first. Astarion is happy about it but why is he still neutral? What am I doing wrong? Laezel is Medium, and they approved of about the same amount of things. I don't get it. Onwards, found the Necromancy Of Thay, kept the power for myself, sorry, Astarion. I know THIS would bump up his approval but fuck you, man. Seriously. The gnoll encounter went a lot different this time. First off, durge is delighted at the, um, birthing scene: Never seen him so happy, awww! Then I ran into the gnolls from a diffrent path before I found the humans. Those cowards ran away. Eventually the gnoll leader appeared, went friendly and killed the humans. Fine by my durge! Came back, had to reload the wisdom check so often I almost gave up. After fighting the gnolls together with their leader, I had to pass two more checks. Second one I gave up on so had to defeat her in battle instead of making her kill herself. Not too big a deal. Went to Waukee's Rest and let everyone but Florrick die. Then finally went to the goblin camp and got a warm welcome, how nice! That's the journey so far. Loving how hilaruous it is at times.

Didn't have much time to play yesterday, so wound up just doing a little exploring around MR tower. And yes... I stuck my hand in the crack.

Man, keeping AI-controlled Jaheira alive is quite a challenge. After reloading my last run since just about everyone else died, it took me five tries to get an acceptable result. Yeah, transforming into a panther and Enhanced Leaping into combat is cool, but maybe don't do it next to two paladins with all their Smite charges.
Hey, can someone check me on something? I could have sworn there was a conversation with Raphael after that business at the Mausoleum, but I've just wrapped act 2 and it still hasn't happened. The first Long Rest afterward I got Gale's "under the stars" convo. Did that maybe bork something?
