Well, I don't have the game appearing in my library despite buying it just now. This is a first time glitch from Steam regarding this.

Dropped by the Steam forums to see all the whining over paying $60. My eyes are bleeding from reading that much stupid.

^ The third still looks young due to the skin tone. Should have more wrinkles around the eyes, lines / deeper groves from the nose. Cheeks should be a little pronounced or sunken. A few age spots would also do.

Watched the reviews, one fight took the player over 40 minutes to finish, not because it was so hard but due to the lack of real time option paired with the high number of enemies. My god this is ridiculously tedious, I'll give it a HARD pass and only consider buying it if they fix that.- Combat should be fun and NOT something I'm afraid of and run away of due to the looming boredom. Trying to mimic D&D tabletop 1:1 in a computer game does not work. Starting a fight in a goblin village with 20+ goblins in your line-of-sight gathered around a feast is going to take a lot of time even in real-time. Especially below level 4 when nobody has AOEs. Also, the game has bugs, including with AI calculation, it start to misbehave when there are too many enemies.

I got it in the library after restarting Steam. Fiddled a bit. Didn't spend a lot of time in CC. But I'm impressed with the selection. I'll do the CC a lot more once it's out of EA.

Oooo nice! Amelia Tyler who voiced Malady in DOS 2 is the narrator. She should do more voice work.

Heh. My first crash came while trying to create a profile. Filesystem error from trying to delete a file which was locked by another process.
I get the feeling this will be happening a lot.
Edit: the error kept repeating until I rebooted the PC. Bad install procedure, I guess.

Noooo! The bRain, zeee brain. eeewwwww
Anyway, I'm enjoying it so far. The inherent ability to jump is pretty great. Not having it locked behind a skill book. I don't know why the game want the player to input probable romantic interest.
So I'm trying to help out by trying to destroy the cannons on the ship. No go there. Bleh. Why not?
Came across one of the companions. Can't release her so no idea if I would be able to help her or if she's going to be "lost" when the ship crashes. I got the githyanki, Lae'Zel. She's the first one to appear.

The CC's a bit more limited than I was expecting. OTOH, the default heads all look pretty good, which wasn't the case with ME:A.

I don't know why the game want the player to input probable romantic interest. I don't think that's for a (real) love interest. I suspect it's going to be used as a mindflayer/tadpole/Absolute mind/dream trick. I played for about an 1.5h, got my crash landing. Gathered Astarion, Shadowheart and Gale on land. Fought a few intellect devourers. Basically all things shown at the first gameplay presentation...but my half-elf Warlock + Shadowheart >>>> Sven. I was supper lucky with DC rolls, succeed at everything until the last one in the ship which wasn't really needed. Then on land I got a 1 against the Mindflayer... I laughed, the check wasn't even hard (like a 6). Now trying to understand how to use my invocations not tied to Eldtrich Blast as a Warlock. I should be able to use Mage Armor at will but I can't find it anywhere. I'm surprised by: - the spell disguise self is in the game (I haven't tried it) - minor illusion is also in the game (seems mostly useful to distract people while in stealth) - thieves's tool proficiency is tied to sleight of hand (but not mentioned in sleight of hand description, only on thieves's tools) - Gale doesn't have a set Wizard School, you set it when he join - Us is adorable and creepy, but so adorable... - I wonder how the tutorial will work if you play as Lae'zel.

I would just like to note for the record that the very first time I died in BG3 was when my character accidentally jumped off the side of the mindflayer ship and fell into hell.
(Not entirely my fault - I was so busy installing Windows 10 and checking my new graphics card for compatibility with my motherboard that I completely forgot to check what kind of ports it had before I installed it, and now I can't plug in my desktop monitor until the adapter I ordered arrived in the mail. So I am currently trying to run the game on my tablet. The good news is that it ... sort of works? The bad news is that it does not render well enough for me to really be able to see what is going on all the time.)

So... i've sinned and bought something still in the oven Looks good, CC is on point (just need 2 or 3 options for stubble or a really short beard), the last part of the CC was unexpected (why would they need that feedback, what are they cooking? ), i got to a part shortly after getting into the island, and after some cutscenes and fights, i think i'll wait until this game is fully cooked. Btw, here are some pics: - - - Oh, and that rolling dice reminds me of those 99% chance shoots of XCOM... damn RNG ... this game has some serious potential, it just need to fix/implement what it's missing (like, 60% of the animations). Any bets in how much time it will take it to get out of EA?

How on earth do I help a downed char during combat? The tooltip only said; char down! Help them or something like that and vanished, leaving me at sea as to how to help. It's not like in DOS2 I just threw a resurrect spell or scroll at them. Edit. Do I throw a heal? I reloaded and avoided the chapel and ended up running into Lae'Zel again. She's rather bossy. Oh nvm, I saw the scroll of revive. Not used to the small HUD slots.

Though I hear they're recommending running the game as DX11 instead of Vulcan. That can be selected from the launcher under the little gear menu.

One thing I hope they implement in the final game is being able to pick your own starter gear. For example, I'm playing a Dex-based fighter who leans into stealth. But I'm stuck with longsword (non-finesse), no shield, and armor that imposes Disadvantage to your stealth. And it didn't help that the shortbow was bugged so that I didn't get my Dex bonus to damage even with that. Oof. I finally picked up a goblin scimitar (after the prologue) and stole the shield from the cleric, so I'm slowly getting closer to where I wanted to be at the start of the game.

Someone made a comment about the % to hit in combat. There are two: - when you highlight an enemy (that's your "to hit" vs the enemy AC) - the circle on the left side, that's the representation of the advantage/disadvantage dice(s) you can have in certain combat conditions. I don't have any crashes so far. *cross fingers* I'm no fan of the rng rolls. I've to reload when I get lousy results. Failing those rolls isn't always a lousy result, it's just a different story path. There are some content you won't see by always succeeding and vice-versa. It's also how D&D works and nobody had issues with them in other D&D based games when the rolls happened in the backgrounds and it just said failure on screen when you failed something like a persuasion check. Combat works the same, do you reload every time you get a miss? And they aren't true rng. A 1 is always failure, a 20 is always success. You have 5% chance of getting both. The rest is a static % of success based on your attribute modifier and proficiency and other possible bonuses (ex: Guidance, Friends for Charisma, etc). As you level up, the easy/normal DC will always be a success unless you get a 1. And unlike BioWare, I expect Larian to not give locks all 20+ DC (difficult) even at higher level as those are supposed to be based on the quality of the door, not content level. Also, people forget so easily that low level D&D characters are scrubs.

Sound like the portraits are unchained. Drag Shadowheart's portrait to your character in the bottom left, you should see a chain between them.
