Isn't it magnificent?   Makes me really want to go back and replay HOTU. Can't wait for uni break! Then I'll be revisiting a certain tiefling.

Now that I've finally finished DA:I, I decided to start up a new game of HotU, only to discover it didn't load properly since I upgraded to Windows 10. While I was trying to get all my mods reinstalled, I remembered that you can't edit Bioware campaign modules in a fresh install without the codewords. I found them and included them in the first post for any players starting NWN for the first time. I'll post them here as well.

In order to install the bug fix, you need to be able to edit the Bioware campaign modules in the toolset. The instructions that come with the bug fix assume you're already able to do that, but the campaign modules only become editable after you've finished them. For first-time players, you'll need to do the following:

1. Open the NWN folder in the Neverwinter Nights folder.
2. Open the nwnplayer.ini file.
3. Under where it says [Game Options], copy and past the following:
    CODEWORD=hacktastic
    CODEWORD XP1=ffrodriguez
    CODEWORD XP2=barkeater
These codewords unlock the original campaign, Shadows of Undrentide, and Hordes of the Underdark respectively. The only one you absolutely need is CODEWORD XP2, but you might as well have all three modules unlocked.

From there, you can follow the instructions included with the bug fix and enjoy the full Valen experience

I was able to fix one of my previous posts (I love that one!), but the link broke on the other one.

My headcanon character is a human NG cleric. I feel like Valen doesn't understand genuinely helpful people very well because of his harsh upbringing, so I tried to pick a class and alignment that really focused on service and compassion (plus, I wanted a character that would believably warm up to Deekin, who is an important part of any SoU/HotU experience ).

I like your druid idea! There's an NPC in the Yawning Portal that has a similar background, so you could check out her dialog for roleplaying ideas. I also thought it might be interesting to try a paladin for a Valen romance since he seems to have some... problems with them.

Your bard sounds awesome! You don't happen to write fanfiction, do you? I'd love to read more about your itchy bard!

I'm doing a playthrough of HotU right now with a bard archer. I left Deekin behind, though, since I felt like their skills would be too similar. I really wish you could take him, Valen, AND Nathyrra in your party at the same time (I usually leave Nathyrra out, for obvious reasons ). Those three are so much fun!
