I've finished Inquisition precisely once, and that was back in 2016, in it's pure vanilla state, no DLC at all.
Since then I've acquired all the DLC but have never played any of it. Every attempt since to re-play the game eventually leaves me feeling completely burned out around a quarter of the way through, and unable to continue.
To be honest I felt burned out even during my first playthrough - I can remember being in the Hissing Wastes and just feeling utterly tired of it all, and continuing felt like a chore - had to force myself to go on.
There's something about DA:I that makes me not 'feel it', or not become as emotionally invested as in the previous Dragon Age games, but now I'm hoping to overcome this and get the danged thing done once and for all.
This playthrough I've mixed everything up, and done everything differently. I'm playing a female Dalish Mage who is consistent in her native beliefs, and utterly rejects any and all notions that she is the Herald of Andraste. She's Dalish, she's a Mage, she believes in the ancient Elven gods, and is helping the Inquisition because it's closing the breach is the right thing to do - not because the cause is a 'holy' one.
This alone has created an interesting change in dynamic, and I have to say I'm 'feeling it' a lot more this time. I already feel far more invested in the game. I've also made some romantic overtones toward Egg Head, and have set things up toward freeing the Mages and leaving the Templars to their fate.
Finally, I've installed all the addons I can think of that make things more immersive and remove many of the annoyances and things that caused me to have problems with the vanilla game. A improved camera addon provides a new over-the-shoulder view that is far closer to the ones in DA:O and DA:2. This alone has massively improved the experience, as I feel far less disconnected from the environment.
Also installed one or two 'cheat mods'. This is something I usually avoid in games, but in this case it's going to help boost quality of life. To begin with I now can hold 16 health potions at all times, which makes things much better for exploration, as I'm no longer having to constantly go back to camp. Also got a mod that reveals the whole map - which let's me plan ahead properly, and not scramble aimlessly around. Finally a mod to slightly increase the odds of getting fade touched materials. None of these are huge cheats, but they are cheats.
So, a question. I'm already off to a bad start with Sera, given that I'm an Elfy Elf and a magic user. I quit the game this morning standing in a cell with Dorian, having just gone forward in time. Soon I'll need to make the choice for full alliance with the mages. This will seriously piss Sera off!
So, how easy will it be to become friends with her afterward? How easy is it to mend the rift (pun intended)?

That feeling won't go away, belive me. I still have about 2 full playthoughs left, and I'm still tired of playing it (that was at Lest 2 months ago since I last played).
I spend most of that time playing Fallout 4 or Skyrim.

Well I guess we'll see. It's been at least 16 months since I last even looked at DA:I, so I'm not suffering from any lingering burnout from previous attempts.
Have to say I'm enjoying it so far, and eager to get back to it. This may change once I enter the dreaded Exalted Plains, and if I were to even think about the Forbidden Oasis my enthusiasm would likely turn into rancid curdled milk... but so far so good.

I split the zones across 4 playthroughs so that I didn't repeat too much or have a super long run. 3 zones (inc the zones from the decent or Hakkon) will get you leveled up enough to finish the game. I'd also pick which zone to do based on which my character would be interested in, for example the Emerald Graves for my elf. And I think you're screwed with Sera. There is a guide to squeeze every bit of positive approval for her on the wiki

Well, in case of Sera, getting approval with her quite often relies on agreeing with her views, no questions. So if you do not want to crap on almost everything your Dalish believes, you won't get far with her. Sera is an interesting case of self-denial at times and she apparently expects that from the Inq as well. My first Inq (Dalish mage as well) only agrees with one opionion of Sera's: that orlesian nobles are dicks, but other than that, they were at odds frequently.

Yeah if there is one problem with DAI that is it is a very long game a little too long in some areas I think in part due to the fact that it is a very open world game too open in some cases I think so I can see why you might get a bit burnt out on it. I cretainly feel it sometimes myself towards the end of playthroughs around the time when the DLC's kick in as I tend to do them towards the end but thankfull yI enjo ythe game enough that I ca npush myself through it to get to the end. I do enjoy playing and in fact it is one of my favourites but it is mostly the end o fplaythroughs that can drag me down sometimes in that I just feel I'm done with this already. I d oenjoy it though and somehow find the energy needed to get to the end in my runs but I can see why some people struggle.

She's a rogue and a thief and she'll seal your fate. I love a challenge and now I'm determined to get her to friendship status, regardless of how difficult it is. One obvious trick is simply to never engage in conversations about The Dalish or elves in general.

Nightscrawl Has a guide somewhere Edit Add: Found ItUnfortunately I am a terminal completionist. Skipping entire zones is impossible for me, it would feel as if I had never really finished the game. I might skip those stupid astrarium puzzles, given that I find them impossible anyway - I absolutely suck at puzzles, and collectibles can GDIAF. Everything else must be completed.

Soon I'll need to make the choice for full alliance with the mages. This will seriously piss Sera off! Your Inquisitor sounds a lot like my canon Inquisitor, with the exception that mine romanced Cullen. It's been a while since I've played Inquisition, let alone her, but I remember playing her as a sort of healer and empathic character. She didn't outright dismiss Sera's feelings/Andrastian beliefs, but at the same time stood true to her own Dalish beliefs. My Quizzy agreed with Sera about nobles being asses and did the pranks with her (it was right after the Ball and was Quizzy's way of going on strike for the day, lol). She accepted Sera's quirky nature and I think I remember her telling Sera something about Sera helping to keep her grounded and humble, or something like that. Quizzy didn't drink from the Well (and neither was Sera there for that part), although she was tempted. (Played as vanilla game on PS3 with no DLC May not have been BFFs, but she ended on pretty friendly terms with Sera - can't remember for sure though if I got the rooftop cookie scene or not..... I think so? Tip regarding talking to Sera: be sure to talk to her at least once in Haven, and once immediately upon arrival to Skyhold before traveling to another location.

Just agree with whatever the elf talks about. If you get tired of doing that, then tell her to get lost.
If interested, try doing a speedrun. If not, do enough to move the game forward. A lot can be avoided. Once done, if you're curious about the stuff you skipped, try doing another playthrough. If not, play another game that will catch your interest.

Current status: Level 13.Hinterlands completely cleared with the singular exception of Letter from a Lover, which requires a herb I don't have. Fallow Mire 100% cleared. Storm Coasts 90% - just need to get into the caves behind the locked door and I can't quite remember how to open it. I have a vague memory of a dragon on the other side. Rant:Wicked Eyes and Wicked Hearts done in my usual shoddy, muddled manner, with the Empress back on her throne, Gaspard banished, and the Duchess sentenced to doing fun farmland activity with a spade and trowel. I still can't really get a handle on Wicked Eyes. On paper it's an absolutely fascinating scenario, putting you into a Machiavellian world of court intrigue, subtlety and political manipulations. It should be the most compelling quest in the game. Sadly, in practice I find the thing very, very disarranged and awkward. The actual objectives are often confusing, and I find myself without any really clear idea of my next step. The Winter Palace itself, despite being visually stunning, is often a confusing chore to navigate, and, as is often the case when dealing with multiple levels, the map not really being very helpful. I could manage with all that if it wasn't for the worst problem of all (in my opinion) which is that DAMNABLE TIMER! based on the cumbersome mechanic of 'court approval'. This sodding timer actively punishes me for exploring the palace, forcing me to rush, when what I really want to do is take my time and poke into every nook and cranny. Ultimately I just forget about things like those stupid Halla doors, forget about looting anything, or searching for additional clues, and just race to get the main objective complete. The court approval thing is fine - but surely it should be based on the choices you make, what you do and what you say? Not some arbitrary notion of everyong 'disapproving' if you're away from the main reception areas for too long. I just so wish there were some kind of mod available to remove, or nullify the timer. As it is, I just find it stressful and frustrating, as I do all timed missions in all games. The more stressed I get, the more wrong turns I make, trying to find my way out of that sodding gardens area - and the combat is an annoying nuisance that gets in the way. Gggggggrrrr I HATE TIMED MISSIONS!!!! /end rant Currently in Crestwood, and having fun again. Just uncovered the drowned village and have discovered the Mayor's nasty secret. Finally - Sara and I are now besties. Becoming friends with her is actually pretty easy, even after freeing the mages, and to all the guys above who said it couldn't be done, I say pffft. Your choice of comment after reaching Skyhold and choosing to lead the Inquisition plays a huge role, as does doing her war table missions and making the right choice on her subsequent personal quest. Roof time is a cert.

Are you saying that you'll have to get all zones to 100% completed to feel that you've finished the game? That's .... sad. There are games where that works, but I don't think DAI is one of them. Note that some quests will likely not be completable. Some requisitions, for instance, rely on drops which stop happening at some point. Surely there's something between zero exploration and leisurely poking into absolutely every corner. Or do you really go to pieces under time pressure? I guess I can see avoiding the whole experience

It's not that hard to befriend Sera with an elfy elf. I did that twice now. Crestwood is probably my favorite zone, I love everything there.

Ultimately I just forget about things like those stupid Halla doors, forget about looting anything, or searching for additional clues, and just race to get the main objective complete.
Some tips:
When exploring the library looking for Morrigan's stash, do not pick up her letter until you are ready to go back to the ballroom. As soon as you pick up the letter, the first bells rings, which cuts your exploration time short.
Same with exploring the royal quarters. Avoid the final room until you are ready to be done with the quest.
Once you hit 100% approval, I don't think it dropping after that affects the end game options. If you are worried, save some caprice coins or secrets to turn in right before heading back to the final room.
Last, if you play on PC, you need the halla mod which lets you use only 1 halla statue per door so you will always have enough to open all the doors you want to open. It's a must-have for me.

I'm a little confused by your playstyle. Why is the clearing zone percentage a useful metric for you? Are you saying that you'll have to get all zones to 100% completed to feel that you've finished the game? That's .... sad Is this one of those "my playstyle is better than your playstyle" things? Yes I have to get every zone to 100% completion, that's how I like to do it, because I am "sad". You don't have to approve, but it works for me. I doubt I'm the only one who does it that way.
Presumably your 'correct' method of play involves just doing two or three quests from each zone, skipping a tonne of stuff, and racing through the main quest?
Yes I'm a wimpy snowflake who crumbles into a delicate ball of sobbing jelly at the first sign of any pressure.
Or maybe I just said that timed missions were stressful, and the insulting hyperbole was your addition?

OK, joking aside, how come none of the mod websites hasn't made a mod download app for consoles? You would think that they would have at some point.

Well Bethesda seem to have managed it.
In the case of Inquisition, the Frostbite Engine does not officially support mods, so it's east to see why they wouldn't extend any console support. The few mods that are available consist mostly of endless cosmetic changes - Dorian without a moustache (sacrilege!) Dorian with a different kind of moustache, Dorian with a different moustache and a mohawk, Dorian with a different mohawk and a different moustache... the list goes on...
No really complex or scripted mods are available for the game. There's a few 'cheat' mods such as the afore-mentioned Halla Doors mod, or the 'Lots of potions' mod that I'm using, but these are limited.
I seriously wish the game had full mod support. Imagine something that removed the idiotic arbitrary eight-spell limit on the action bar? Or imagine an Improved Party Tactics mod.
But it will never happen.
In short, bar a few 'cheaty things' and a squillion cosmetic mods concerned primarily with Dorian's moustache you're not really missing all that much.
