By the way, Spiders was created by remains of the studio that made Silverfall. Huh, that's cool to know. I picked up Silverfall and Earth Awakening in a recent Steam sale. I have very fond memories of playing Silverfall when it first came out.

DeSardet's thighs must be made of iron by now from all the running. Ended up checking on the religious business first. Found some stone tablets sans blood and invaded the local housing. Had a nice religious experience and decided that I'll have the second one later.
So went to the mines instead. Had been there before but actually made progress this time around. Also met my old nemesis, who was quite easier this time around. More skill or better leveled? Maybe. Maybe he was just old and tired.
Had a hunch the last companion might have been in the scholar quest. So decided to do it next and there is an instant regret and deep desire to deck my clone in her face. Nobody threatens me! Nobody! Not even myself! But now I'm curious if turning in a main quest earlier opens up the next stage right away. Which means testing. And mister mustachio might just be the man for the job.
Either way got a stealth mission for my problems and calling it a day for now since it's late. And I may have messed it up by heading in during the day with just my fingers crossed and doing it tomorrow will totally count as not a reload. Hehe.
But still it was a nice enough session.

I agree with you about the backtracking. That quest was horrendous when it came to that. I think I completed it on Sunday. I was sitting there; okay I'll complete this and I'll shut down the game. Then the quest completed and I had to go to the mine, so I thought; yes let's complete this and shutdown. At the end of these two quests I was tired of going back and forth so many times. It was a chore, and even though some of the story in that quest was good, it became boring to me in the end. I expect some running back and forth, but that was too much. I think that probably killed some of the joy of the game for me. Because I haven't played the game since Sunday. I just noticed today. That quest also broke me 2 days ago as well but there have been a couple. I had a break for a few days though and decided I wanted to finish the game and was rewarded with a quest (the tablet one about St Matheus) I really enjoyed but (I know its probably just me) but navigating the map and sometimes maps to get to one point actually drove me nuts. I think I know what you mean about that quest. In that quest I ended up crashing into several blind walls making me going further and further until I found the place where I was going. This is also one of the things that's bothering me about the game. On the map, loads of times, and in the game world it seems as though I can go somewhere until the game stops me. Blind walls. Is it just me or are they everywhere? Sometimes a blind wall stops me sometimes before going out on the edge of a high place. But sometimes you can go off a cliff, usually not that high and be okay. Because the developers say you can. But sometimes you can't. In a way this game is highly restrictive.

People with map problems should be sent to SWTOR and dropped in the middle of Taris or Belsavis Why do you need a map anyway? There is a compass on your screen. You are an Aussie ffs Use the stars or whatever. Did Crocodile Dundee ever need a map? (I don't remember if he did truth be told. That movie was almost Star Wars big in Eastern Europe back in the 80ies.)

Damn compass on several occasions has sent me the completely wrong way or into dead ends!!!! No Crocodile didn't need a compass or a map and I don't generally in real life but what is confusing on the maps in the game is that the icon often appears accessible from the map you are on but there is either an invisible wall that blocks you or you need to travel to another map to get to it and it sometimes doesn't indicate which camp or even map you need to go to. As I said it maybe just me being a goose but its still frustrating, just give one map and an quest icon that I need to get to and show me all the damn Fast Travel points on it!!!!!

I didn't find map navigation that bad in GreedFall, the only map that is annoying is the Red wood, as it take a long trip to go back up/down to Siora's village because you can't climb the slopes you can ride down (unless that requires some point in vigor which I never had!).

I just finished Greedfall and even if I'm not yet ready to start another character and subject myself to other rounds of running back and forth between the same places and the same people asking almost exactly the same things, I liked it. A lot! I chose a mostly pure mage just for the sake of variety, since I usually play warriors. The combat was a bit clunky but I found it good to look at. I didn't like not being able to control my companions and most of the mechanics but the mage dodge was I think a nice way to make you think you are not actually kiting when if fact you totally are. The world is beautiful, the soundtrack nice, the game runs nicely on highest settings on PC with only the occasional glitch. The story is not bad, a tad cliché but overall entertaining and engaging. The companions are fun though interactions are kept to a minimum. Pity. More conversations would have been a bonus. The grand winners are my Lady De Sardet, I love her voice and tone and she gets irritated in just the right places, and....Constantin! He felt like family from the start, I loved him dearly. So obviously.... ... when at the end he gave me the choice to join him, I did. It just felt like we always looked out for each other and were too ingrained in the "us vs the world" for me to betray that. At that point my De Sardet was convinced the world had conspired to make him mad and they needed to pay. I actually think the High King who tried to kill him tipped him over the edge. Sure, the malichor helped but even when he was at his worst Catasach, whom my character trusted, said he was a beautiful soul and wanted to save him, or something along those lines. So, role-playing that, my De Sardet thought her cousin was worth trusting in the end. Even if that meant the end of others. In this playthrough Aphra and Petrus died on the island. Vasco and Kurt managed to leave and Vasco took refuge on the Nauts' island and never left it again, while Kurt found another battlefield on which to die. Siora stayed on the island and in the end, just like the other natives, bowed to her new gods and witnessed the island becoming a new paradise, while the world outside was slowly destroyed by war, corruption and malichor. I hope the Prince d'Orsay was the first victim. All in all it was a fun ride. Hearing some well loved voice actors was nice. I recognized Bann Teagan and Blackwall immediately but Dorian escaped me until I read the list of actors. He must be the reason I trusted Catasach. And Constantin's voice was amazing. Just the right amount of spoiled, enthusiastic young noble brat with a desire to do right. Bravo! to Spiders.

I might have to try that on a future playthrough (once the game gets a bunch of patches).

Expected De Sardet to be tad more shocked about the woman turned swamp monster conversion
First bit of immersion breaking is I go to clear out the Conversion Center of Natives on behalf of Theleme (to preserve Native life and redeem Theleme). As I'm creeping in, there are two servants on the first floor that greet me cheerfully 😒

So a recap of the last few days
Had to sneak in to spy on a meeting. Pressed the crouch button, cut scene plays. My 2 goons are standing up still, sticking out like the proverbial and I'm just derp crouching in plain sight behind some rocks 😂.
Had a few conversations with characters who find me so unappealing that they have to keep their eyes closed during our conversations.
Had another conversation with this woman (who could actually bear to look at me) but must have legs and glutes of steel as she sat on top of the edge of the table top.
Lols aside, felt like I shouldn't have been involving myself in the election of a native person of importance, but apparently there is no other option.

The world is beautiful, the soundtrack nice, the game runs nicely on highest settings on PC with only the occasional glitch. I am curious how well the game ran on your hardware (if it's still as in your signature). At what resolution and at what high/low/average FPS? Since the Silk engine doesn't look much worse than UE4 I wonder why Spiders haven't offered it around.

So, followed the main story a little further yesterday and had a weird situation there. Admiral Cabral told me about the fact that the Nauts discovered the island 200 years ago and all that, basically she just confirmed everything we had already pieced together. She also confirmed that I am the child of islanders who was brought back from one of the later expeditions. That's when my DeSardet freaked out. I was just wondering why? I had already done 2 segments of Aphra's quest before this, so the islanders already told me that my parent's must have been islanders who were bonded and that's why I have the green mark. As a player, I really didn't understand why my character was surprised by Cabral's 'revelations" even though we had already figured all of this ourselves and even discussed it with the companions. Also, Cabral said I was born on one of their ships. Didn't Vasco say that children born on ships are automatically Nauts? Why am I not a Naut? I hope this will be elaborated on later in the game.

As for the Naut thing, I have heard that some De Sardets can get Naut tattoos. I don't know how this happens though.

As for the Naut thing, I have heard that some De Sardets can get Naut tattoos. I don't know how this happens though. Yea, that's what I figured about the quest gating. Wouldn't be the first game. I really like the Naut tattoos. Not sure if this is mentioned but is it that the higher the rank, the more tattoos they get? I noticed that lowly sailors only have the chin/mouth tattoos, officers like Vasco have them also around the eyes or on the cheeks and Cabral has the entire face covered. If so, it's a nice little detail (although I find the beard-like mouth/chin tattoos a little off-putting on women ). But even if DeSardet can get Naut tattoos during the game, it doesn't change their canon background as adopted son/daughter of the DeSardet family, right? But I'll wait and see. Maybe it'll be explained.

@ Andromedary: Check De Sardet's codex entry. It's not much, but it does get updated to reflect your new understanding. As for the Naut thing, I have heard that some De Sardets can get Naut tattoos. I don't know how this happens though. It's easy to miss. You need to hold off on completing Vasco's final companion quest "Forever a Naut" until after the revelation from Admiral Cabral during "The Prince's Secret."

As for the Naut thing, I have heard that some De Sardets can get Naut tattoos. I don't know how this happens though. It's easy to miss. You need to hold off on completing Vasco's final companion quest "Forever a Naut" until after the revelation from Admiral Cabral during "The Prince's Secret." Oh ok, thanks! And I also didn't do that quest yet. It's next on the agenda. So I guess I'll have the choice, which is nice.

Where's the "I think you hid them, Brother Virgil." Accusation option. Followed by "Push X to punch" 😝
I had to look up Eden in the codex because I couldn't for the life of me remember what was interesting or perplexing about the situation. Glad that codex existed
My memory is bad since I barely have time to play the game. I usually marathon 30 hours in a single weekend, but here I am, September almost over, level 16 and 19 hours in.
The look of disgust on Siora's face as Father Lustinius explains how it all went down. You know, the warriors "left" all peaceful like or something

Finished the game with a whopping 64 hours played. Not sure how I did that. Probably running around harvesting all the things, and ending up with a load of stuff I'd never use Level 38 was as high as I got

More Greedfall today. Stealth mission continued. Gave it one more try and was promptly spotted. Granted my plan was just chug a haze potion and just crab walk past the natives, which worked well, just not well enough. Reloaded the game a bit before DeSardet went stealthing and went ahead and killed the local fauna and had a nap until dusk. Retried my stealth tactic and succeeded and got the lot out without much blood shed. Then couldn't stealth past a trio of natives, but was given an option to spare or kill but not marry, a flaw in my world. Decided to spare them because well, their captives were massive pricks after all. Then Aphra joins us and has the chance to enjoy sitting in camp for the rest of time. Go to talk to Constantin who is looking more and more like Cole and I don't like that. Screw you game. I hate you if you do this to me! Take Aphra instead. Heck take the whole team. The whole island! Just leave my pretty boy alone. Then had to take an actual nap because yawn and I don't know, need to crab walk past the cat tonight or something. Loaded up again later on and messed with the character creator. Can't make a decent 4th face. Which in the grand scheme of things wont matter since almost certainly wont play through it 4 times, since I'm barely lasting through the one run. But still it bothers me. Gave my Mustachio DeSardet a spin and found out that Siora's first quest was meant to be. Which makes sense. I guess. Return to town to update Constantin, then do Vasco's quest, meet the native merchant and talk to the quartermaster for Kurt. And was delighted to hear Vasco going all "You did wot to my boat?!" but he also told us which warehouse to check in so it was also handy. Managed to convince the brothelman to spike the drinks and felt very icky after the dialog option said "his girls" were his daughters. Which makes sense but still, ewww bad dad. Then headed off to the mines and the ruins and found out big plot thing and fought big octopusmanthing. Good times. Then decided to look up the romance mechanics and the game can go screw itself for now. Might pick it up tomorrow but for now it can rot on the desktop while I sulk.

I'm tolerating all the running around for now. It is really going to hinder replay value for me tho. Also, I really wanted to drag Governor Burham into the wilderness black ops style.

Finished it. Enjoyed it, but not likely to replay it. Got the "good" ending and felt a little bad for a certain individual but 🤷♀️. Certain things irked me, but they've all been mentioned before so I won't go into it as well.

That's kinda a "good" ending, as long as you didn't like certain companions. I might have to try that on a future playthrough (once the game gets a bunch of patches). I liked them all well enough. Aphra maybe a bit less than the others but only because she joined so late in my game. So it was kind of bittersweet but I really don't regret it. I'll try a different ending next time. I'm also waiting for some patches. I realized once it was over and was looking at a list that a quest or two for the Coin Guard never fired up. saandrig I'll check it out for you once the husband fires it up today or tomorrow. It's his turn at it now.

So shortly after I threatened to expose Governor Burham's dirty little secrets and he in turn threatened to have De Sardet killed, a messenger came requesting aid in Hikmet. I guess he couldn't stay mad for very long... LOL. I initially intended to leave him to fend for himself, but I guess I just couldn't leave those poor villagers to suffer as well.
So De Sardet went to visit Governor Burham, and just to lighten the mood De Sardet decided to cosplay as Doctor Asili since the Governor seemed to love the guy so much. I think he really appreciated it. Good news, the conversation between the two was very professional and respectful. At least that's how I interpreted these events...
