Big Snip Not to mention Casey Hudson's tweet on everything at BW right now: “Just wrapped up a BioWare All-Hands meeting. Over 300 people on a video conference. Reviewed truly incredible work done by all of our teams - much of it done over the last month of work-from-home. So proud to work with these amazing people!” Snip
Don't believe everything Bio or Casey says. Rather, think in terms of marketing.... which is part of Casey's job description.
And if you really think about it, remember the description of the Writers Pit to hash out a scene.... can't really do that via a video conference. .. done that with the family. Unless you want to see a zoo, the only way to be fruitful is for one member to speak and the rest are silent and listen... guess how much work gets done via a video conference vs the office.

"... especially with a lot of bored people at home with credit cards." And no jobs..... sadly That is a real issue, but it means we have two competing forces as far as at home entertainment purchases go. The people who have lost their jobs and are suffering versus those working from home or well off enough that they can still make luxury purchases despite being out of work at least temporarily. I don’t really know what factor outweighs the other but I still doubt larger studios like EA are going to be in much danger.
Well, I think there is a difference between danger and game development delays.
My brother works at home but the company demands he comes to the office twice a week... (not at the moment, though). Why? ... reasons. That face to face interaction cannot be substituted via a video conference call. I can attest to that with a peculiar banking problem that landed on my lap and was tasked to trouble shoot the issue. Without that face-to-face meeting... we were talking apples and oranges over the phone.
Game development delays is inevitable, in present day environment. I also expect a downturn in EA's revenue forecasts. College boys don't have that income anymore to by luxury goods. They've got bigger problems to worry about.... like debt.

I’m experiencing a bit of this myself in software engineering, working from home and having conversations via video conference rather than in person. We find the biggest barrier to our meetings is lack of whiteboard. But it can work pretty well as long as people take turns speaking and we’re exploring options for digital whiteboards. It’s slower but workable. I think more gaming spending is coming from adults in the late 20s-30s are these days.

A few months of delay in development should translate to a few months of delay in the game’s release I am glad we are seeing eye to eye.
