finding Princess Which you HAVE to do in order to talk to the Pellar, which you HAVE to do in order to progress with the baron's quest, which you HAVE to do in order to find out anything about Ciri. Better a tedious task be an avoidable side quest than one required to move the main story along (see previous post about Dandelion). 😏

Oh wow. IGN's opinion.
Untrue. DA:I did not deserve to get the GOTY award. Especially games that force me to jump like a jackrabbit while climbing an escarpment, menu nav was horrible... etc.
This is BSN. Unpopular opinions about BioWare are unwelcome here. And it doesn't deserve GOTY.

You're right... it EARNED it. By giving them money..... .....riiiiiiight. Just like Disney paid critics to say DC movies were bad and Captain Marvel was amazing. Don't like DAI? That’s fine. But EA paying for game of the year awards is utterly absurd.

I played through DA:I again and I feel the same I did four years ago: I want to play it again because I don't want to leave my crew. It's the kind of game where you feel depressed when it ends, I get so attached to the crew and my Inquisitor! And I've played this game so many times that I have almost everything memorized, like the dialogue and where the Halla statues are. I'm glad it still invokes these feelings in me.
I still think there are plenty of flaws in the game obviously, but none of them are so huge that it deserves the amount of shit people throw at it.

Who says anything about me not liking Inquisition? Just because I'm criticizing it doesn't mean that I hate the game. Fair enough. Maybe you do like the game and just talk a lot about how everything else you play is so much better. Like I said, it’s fine, either way. There is no rule that says you have to love, hate or feel anything in between for any BioWare game. I was just going from my experience of reading your posts these last few years and made an assumption. Regardless of whether you love, like, dislike or hate DAI, though, the suggestion that EA paid for over/around 100 GOTY awards is just ridiculous. And that is all I was really addressing in my post.

The problem I have is the inconsistency people display over things like reviews and awards. People cannot have it both ways, either these guys have no clue or they are amazing judges of quality and excellence. For example you cannot say the reviews and award ceremonies reflected the state of the game in panning Andromeda, but incorrect and corrupt when praising Inquisition. Conversely you cannot say reviews and award ceremonies reflected the state of the game in praising Inquisition, but were obviously corrupt and looking for clicks when panning Andromeda. That's my only problem with this sort of stuff. Otherwise eh. Congrats on Inquisition Bioware ... better luck next time with Andromeda and Anthem Bioware

DA:I hasn't aged well. Back in the day (I'm old) only a handful of studios could make open world games, and those that could often got away with murder *cough*Bethesda*cough*. Now everyone can make them, and many can do so competently. It's not bad, but it is noticeably inferior to some more recent open world titles.
Also, the frostbite engine is a disease.

The “world” is still beautiful, but it hasn’t been populated with activities - both minor and major - as well as other - newer - open world games. The strength of DA remains the setting and the characters. In that respect, Inquisition is still a game I rate highly.

The settings themselves are beautiful, but disorganized and mazelike. The Hinterlands is just a mess. One of the complaints, even in DA:I 's heyday, was that it was padded, there was more time than content. While not as blatant as the tombs in Anthem (GAH!) it was still noticable. You touch on this, but I think it's more than just activities. The characters aren't bad. But they aren't the best we've seen. I mean, I could probably name most of the companions from ME2, ME3, and MEA and tell you their backstories off the top of my head. No can do for DA:I.

Well - I played MEA one and a half times and couldn’t tell you much about any of the characters- except Liam, for some reason - whereas I am intimately familiar with the DAI crew, so I guess that one is a matter of preference and exposure. Bug addled, though....? In over 700 hours with DAI I think I encountered maybe half a dozen bugs. If your experience with it was different, that’s fine, but mine was very smooth. I never felt like I was in a maze, either. And DAI was my first experience with a map of that size. I will acknowledge that it lacked a lot of content that felt meaningful, though. And some of the content was presented in a manner that left a lot to be desired,

I think people tend to forget just how crap Open World RPGs were at the time DAI came out in the first place. At least the ones I have played and or seen didn't seem...really that inspired either...from a design world perspective. They were often empty and reactionless. DAI was still an amazing game and Andromeda's 'world(s)' showed leaps and bounds improvement on Inquisition's and given the fact that industry standards of side quests and world continues to rise all the time in the wake of TW 3 I have every confidence that DA 4 won't have anywhere near the amount of trouble Inquisition had with this sort of thing.
