Okay, well first there is that satisfied smirk she gives in the first cutscene with her after she killed some of the mages and Templars. The fanatics who were robbing and killing refugees in the Hinterlands? If enjoying the act of killing assholes makes you a sadist, then I’m practically the Marquis de Sade. You mean the Venatori in the Western Approach helping the Red Templars set up their red lyrium mines? I believe Patrick Weekes said that wasn’t necessarily torture, just very persuasive interrogation. Pfffft, I’ve personally killed hundreds of animals in this game. And she was using padded arrows!

Okay, well first there is that satisfied smirk she gives in the first cutscene with her after she killed some of the mages and Templars. Then she talks about torturing Venatori for information and seems really chipper about it. Then in Jaws of Hakkon there is the story where she kept shooting squirrels and her neighbor Henrik to practice with her archery as a kid. In many circumstances, those would be warning signs for the police. Venatori are Tevinter supremacists that practice blood magic, and in practicing blood magic, fuel their power by using people as batteries. Hell, I relish torturing them. They’re evil wizards in need of purging, and my Inquisitor probably immolated more of them than Harding could ever dream. Slightly off topic, I actually had a license to shoot squirrels when I lived in MN. They’re apparently good eating, though it’s kind of silly to bother when I can just buy chicken from the supermarket. Regarding the Templars and mages in the Hinterlands, honestly those people were a nuisance and deserved to die. They had no qualms killing all of the innocent people out there for their little feud. Didn't say they didn't deserve to die, but enjoying it is something else entirely.

Garrus even cheers “scoped and dropped” whenever he domes a merc lol. The guy even listens to music on his visor while he does it.

The guy even listens to music on his visor while he does it. Have we ever had a Dragon Age companion that doesn't have combat barks about how exciting combat is and/or how fun it is to kill whatever it is you're currently stabbing and/or setting on fire? That seems like a pretty high bar if nobody in our party over the course of three games and an expansion ever clears it.
Anyway, I think we'll probably see Harding AND Charter AND Calpernia in DA4. My bet is on Harding for crossover companion and Carver for advisor/faction leader/quest giver after she takes over as Inquisition spymaster for Leliana. Calpernia could easily be a companion, but they could also go the faction leader route with her. If Maevaris is our companion then they might not want two female mages from Tevinter in the party, so I can see one of them being a companion and the other an NPC.
Whatever happens, we're going to get a group with wildly varying concepts of morality and levels of niceness, because we always do. One of the rolls of the party is to present us with a variety of world views. If they all agreed it would be a tea party instead.

DAO is hard to check but I can't recall Alistair, Leliana, or Wynne having any. In DA2 there is Aveline, Fenris, Merrill, Sebastian, and Tallis. In DAI there is Cassandra, Cole, Rainier, and Solas. Plus none of the three advisers show that mentality either.

Calpernia could easily be a companion, but they could also go the faction leader route with her.
But for which faction? The Venatori are finished after Corypheus death. Mae and Calpernia are like Wynne and Morrigan before different enough to be two possible DA 4 partymember.
Yes both are two female Tevinter mages but Mae is a noble Magistra and has moderate ideas in reforming Tevinter while Calpernia is a former Slave who served the last game antagonist Corypheus for the racial goal to rebuild Tevinter and free all the slaves.
Maybe my memory is wrong but i think that Mae doesn´t mind the slaves and own even one or two slaves.
To your point that Mae could just a (major) NPC my question is what possible purpose in DA 4 could Mae have then? Especially with Dorians role in DA 4. It seems highly unlikely that both Dorian and Mae play a similiar role as faction leader. Therefore i believe that Dorian will be the faction leader of the Lucerni faction and Mae a partymember. Just like with Leliana and Cassandra in DAI before.
By the way are Qunari women "cute? Because a new female Qunari partymember doesn´t seen that far-fetched. Maybe Bioware can reuse the idea of Valo-Kas leader Shokrakar? A qunari rebel?
"Shokrakar is a female qunari who spent her life rebelling against the dictates of the Qun, and finally escaped. She was always too aggressive and too opinionated to fit the Qunari´s idea of proper female behavior, and rebelled repeatedly against every profession and part of society the priests tried to force her into. Her name literally means ;rebel, in qunari. She bears hefty emotional and physical scars from years of enduring re-education camps, but is triumphant about having gained her freedom. She is forthright, confident and impossible to intimidate. Visually, she should show the scars of her background, but have a relaxed, open demeanor, since she has finally achieved everything she was fighting for"

Q: So we've had two male qunari party memebers in DAO and DAI. Any chance of a strong female qunari next? Patrick: Definitely a chance. We like doing character types we haven't done before, and that would be a biggie in hypothetical future game. Rasaan is also still around, and was in Tevinter Nights as well.

Rasaan is also still around, and was in Tevinter Nights as well. Isn´t Rasaan supposed to be the new Ariqun? If so that high rang makes her very unlikely to impossible to appear as DA 4 partymember. But i still think that she is in DA 4. She is one of the more prominent Qunari who always lives in all possible world states.

Rasaan is the Ariqun's successor, but isn't there yet AFAIK. She's also in Tevinter trying to uncover more on Solas and the Evanuris, which positions her nicely as a possible companion.

Okay, well first there is that satisfied smirk she gives in the first cutscene with her after she killed some of the mages and Templars. I don't see a problem with that. It's too bad she couldn't light up a stogie to celebrate. Ah yes the Ventori. **** them. They did much worse, did they not? How many did she kill? And how long did she do that for? How old was she at the time? Would would the police have done? Read little Harding her rights, then take her downtown for questioning?

Ok, I need to know. How is Harding sadistic? Okay, well first there is that satisfied smirk she gives in the first cutscene with her after she killed some of the mages and Templars. Then she talks about torturing Venatori for information and seems really chipper about it. Then in Jaws of Hakkon there is the story where she kept shooting squirrels and her neighbor Henrik to practice with her archery as a kid. In many circumstances, those would be warning signs for the police. I'm going to quote Cole here.
"You couldn't help the bandits. Some people have to die. Being happy for your skill doesn't make you cruel. "

Okay but do we really need another Qunari partymember who is following the Qun? After Sten, Tallis and i know that the Iron Bull can be a Tal Vashoth but for the most part of DAI he is not a true Tal-Vashoth maybe its time for non Qun believer like Shokrakar. This could be more interessing.

The Venatori are the antagonists of one of the stories. The comics still have some of them kicking around too, like the Lucerni trying to find their sympathizers like Francesca's family.

There is a difference between finding satisfaction in your skill and whatever makes someone make this face after killing somebody. These mages and templars were on a killing spree and wanted to kill everyone who isn´t a mage or templar. So its totally unterstandable that she is smiling here because the civilians with Mother Geselle are safe. Or maybe she is just proud that in her archery skills.

You can't have your argument both ways. How can you possible believe that Mae and Calpernia are too similiar? In my original post i have explained this.
In a nutsheel Mae is moderate reformer and slave owner. Calpernia is a former slave who joined an ancient Magister to reform Tevinter radical. Calpernia want to free all slaves. So yeah they could be DA 4 next Wynne (Mae) and Morrigan (Calpernia).
