It sounds like a lot of changes. Kinda sad that it sounds like they are going to get rid of things like Rush Assassination but it was pretty ridiculous. Not sure after even hearing how this power thing is going to work, I am guessing from what was said that the there will be no Level gated areas so does that mean enemies will adapt to your "power" level? Also when they talking about changing the gear are they saying there will be no gear categories like Rare etc.?
The thing that worries me most is it really sounds like they are pushing the whole clan thing. I really hope my community development will be held back if I don't want to participate in that stuff. I am a fan of The divisions optional Co-OP stuff where you can do raids etc. with others on harder levels etc. but don't want to "have" to do them with others.

In this case, Ubisoft got the wrong message: the region gating sucked, not people's ability at realizing that they had to upgrade their gear and not just their levels to do content. I have also seen people theorize that it might be more like in Inquisition: a certain amount of power is required to unlock objectives. Still gating, but if they keep the locking to specific things like forts or castles instead of entire regions, it will allow for more freedom.
Gear will apparently be all unique, but still upgradables. I'm not sure if they meant unique as in no RNG stats on them, so a rare Shield of the Evening will always have the same stats if you find one, or unique as in "all legendary", so a single copy of each found in a very specific spot every playthrough. Edit: I went back to read some dev comments, and while gear is Unique, at a certain point you'll be able to customize it. So I suspect it won't be that much different, lol.

Did you ever play Syndicate? That is what I think of when they talk about unique gear and the ability to upgrade it.
I'm 8 hours into a Syndicate playthrough that I will have to finish one day, and my mind also moved to Syndicate model but then rejected it as it's mostly about unlocking the skin and not really a RPG gear system. Although, they might have gone back to that...and are trying to sell it as a RPG system.

I have zero recollection of the mum instance, did you encounter that in the game or read about it somewhere?

Re the power thing, thanks for the answers and my first thought when I read it was a whole lot of changes for very little effect!!!!. In The Division stuff wasn't level gated but it was plain suicide to try and attempt certain activities or areas without a certain gear score which of course meant getting lucky with loot or grinding. So I don't really see how that is different from level gating really. I was once a real support of unique item drops for certain quests and actually like how Legendary items in Odyssey were attached to cultists or temples. But I am not a fan of how they did it in The Division where you had to do a certain activity to get an item on a certain difficulty and it was still a random drop, I hope that's not the path they are going down.

Looks like Ubisoft managers started contradicting each others...
A Ubi communication manager from the Middles Est claims Valhalla won't be the "longest nor biggest game" in the series. When the game main producer said in an interview (in French) that the map was slightly larger than Odyssey which makes it the biggest. And if it's not the longest too, then it's going to be a really empty map.
Considering I already think Odyssey has poor content density which leads me to boredom, Valhalla might be a snooze fest.

I think I need to stop reading posts by "NotMyAssassinsCreedGame!" people online. They grasp at (dev) straws to the point they believe Valhalla will be like the pre-Black Flag AC games and not even a RPG now.
The latest one is that they hated the mythology related creatures in Odyssey and they think the devs saying Valhalla will have grounded mythology means there won't be any. The Odyssey takes on mythology was actually very grounded compared to Origins, the previous game made by Valhalla's team.
The Valhalla CGI trailers tells me we are getting something quite similar in term of mythological stuff being real to the protagonist anyway.
Which means I expect a "remake" of the Apep (aka Apophis) boss fight to take down Jörmungandr in Valhalla.
