Shao Jun Is My Queen #ACSisterhood @sand_Bag14 The hood comes off automatically when you enter conflict. Which kinda sucks but makes sense I guess.
Darby McDevitt @darbymcdevitt Yes ... players need a very clear understanding of when their cover has been blown.
If you keep the hood and cloak on while fighting, it would never be clear when you were incognito and when you were not, without additional UI elements.
Shao Jun Is My Queen #ACSisterhood @sand_Bag14 Yeah it does make sense. There's no point in having the hood up when you're exposed. Does Valhalla have hit lag though? Like in Origins when you would hit someone and the frame would freeze to give you the feeling of deep impact when your sword would impale your enemy.
Darby McDevitt @darbymcdevitt Yes. It's different for every weapon class, but hit lag is something we play with a lot.
Maybe, but if you get struck by an arrow or get hit by a sword... I think your cover is blown.

Ikraik (Nick) @ikraik_original Now I know this is far fetched but will we see the start or hint of Robin Hood in #AssassinsCreedValhalla ? @darbymcdevitt Fingers crosser since you mentioned that Folklore is also explored here.
Darby McDevitt @darbymcdevitt Robin Hood would have been operating in AC1s time period. We’re still 300 years from that era.
A certain famous forest is in ACV, however, so you may pretend to be Robin’s ancestor.
[Sherwood Forest] Snottinghamshire in our time period.

Are the other two out yet, has anyone read them if so?
Just realized we are about 6 weeks till launch. It feels like it's almost upon us.
And now I am wondering if I should just grab a RTX 3080 Asus TUF and call it a day. The performance differences in gaming between the 3080 and 3090 look to be too minimal, which makes it hardly worth the wait for a 3080Ti. The 10GB VRAM will probably be enough for at least 4 years for 99.8% of all games. And the TUF has great cooling and sound performance, which is pretty much why I was looking at the Strix in the first place. Do I want to play Valhalla with 90+ FPS at 1440p/Ultra at release or a few months later... Decisions, decisions.

So tempted too, maybe divorced but hey. 😜 Not sure whether the rest of my hardware can handle it though. 🤔

You really don't need the upgrade to a 3080 unless you plan to soon get a 1440/4k monitor and/or ray-tracing is the reason you live.

I'm in a similar boat, just waiting to see what AMD has on offer next month before I decide.

The 3090 isn't worth it unless you are doing something outside the ordinary or have money to burn. I am going to hold off as long as I can and wait for my 2070 to die and then replace it with a 3080. Considering right now I have to tap the fan every now and then to get it to start when gaming I don't think it has too much life left.

Initially the 3080 was touted to be about 50% faster than a 2080Ti and the 3090 was supposed to be about 30-35% faster than the 3080. We are talking strictly gaming performance, which made me even think about grabbing a 3090. So it made sense there will be a card between them - a 3080Ti that could be 15-20% faster than a 3080.
However, current benchmarks put the 3080 at about 30-35% faster than a 2080Ti and the 3090 is barely 20% faster than a 3080. Even if there is a 3080Ti, it will hardly be more than 10% faster than a 3080, but might have 20GB VRAM. If so, it still doesn't make sense to wait for it.
I am aware that drivers will give the Ampere lineup a slight boost in the future, compared to Turing, but I guess it will be just 5% more on average.
Right now it's best to see what AMD will bring to the table, check Nvidia's response and...
