Darby McDevitt @darbymcdevitt You wouldn’t believe me if I told you...
@venngar_0011 ... that Shay is Eivor's descendant?
Darby McDevitt @darbymcdevitt I’m just saying someone should dig up this tweet in a few months time and bask in its prophetic light.
So much for being able to determine Eivor’s sexual orientation. You’d think they’d have learned but nope still lying to get sales
Asexual, gay and lesbian can have kids, you know. There are plenty of example of people who identified like that who "did their duties" among the elite over the last 2000 years. And Eivor is very much "among the elite".
They are also Vikings, they actually had to forced people to have children back then because their numbers were going down and adopting kidnapped kids wasn't so hot.

So you support the notion of any non-straight or bi players having to be raped in the games. Good to know.

Raped?
Monsieur Philippe I, Duke D'Orleans was openly gay at the court of his brother the Sun King of France. He didn't hide his lovers. He married twice. He had several children he loved. His nickname is "grandfather of Europe" as he's the common ancestor of pretty much all modern European royalty. He was also the Commander of the army of France for years with great success.
Your idea that certain sexuality stop people from having children with other people unless they are raped is so insulting. Making kids doesn't require love and being homosexual (or asexual) doesn't mean you do not want kids. Before in-vitro was invented, you either had adoption or sex to get it done.

Yes, raped. You said "they actually had to forced people to have children". Being forced to have kids means being forced to have sex. Being forced to have sex means you don't consent. Not consenting to sex means rape.

Forced as in "arrange marriages otherwise the clans dies out and leaders need heirs".
If we take "arranged marriage = rape", then women only stopped being raped around the 1960s and not everywhere on the planet yet...

Arranged marriages where either of the two spouses has no say is still rape, yes. The fact you think otherwise is quite frankly very disturbing.

I want to wait and see. Saying "You wouldn’t believe me if I told you..." makes me think it's not going to be so cut and dry.
There's some kind of connection to this era, but making the same mistake twice? After all the flack they took? Okay, yes - it is Ubisoft, so it's a definite possibility. But I got a feeling it's not going to go this way.

I'm saying that's how it worked back then. I'm not approving of it, I'm stating a fact. Some of those arranged marriage were loving couple/friendship might I add.
Hell, I could go even farther and the majority of the planet current alive fathers still think their daughters are babywombs you can trade, because neither Africa or Asia dropped the practice. Again, I'm not approving of it, I'm just stating a fact.
The game isn't set in the 21st century, it's set in the 9th one. You might want to accept that it is going to have 9th century things in it, like clan leaders being required to have children to continue their line.

I had that feeling before, and that trust was betrayed by them. They have to earn it back, and stuff like this even if just teasing doesn't help.

The series has never been historically accurate. They have even talked about how they abandoned certain things that would be historically accurate in order to make the game and characters more enjoyable. For example there being female Vikings at all, since that is a very disputed topic. So why should the uglyness of history be dropped for races and genders, but not sexual orientations?

Because you can be homosexual and still have kids.
You're problem is that you can't accept that the dev are writing a fixed protagonist in a fixed story that might required them to have descendants, not that their sexuality isn't respected.

The story hasn't required descendants since Origins with Layla's new Animus that uses the DNA of the person themselves. And yeah, when they promise one thing then do exactly the opposite that tends to bug me. It should bug any customer.
But again, good to know you're on the side of people like Dorian's father.

I think your speculations may be unnecessarily harsh. The game isn't out yet so we don't know exactly how the lore will develop. Posters are also welcome to share their ideas without you attempting to put words in their mouths or imagining disturbing motives for their suppositions.
The game will be out soon enough, then we can move on to enjoying the game rather than just enjoying waiting for it (I suspect we'll also need a separate 'spoilers' thread).

I see nothing unnecessary about it. If they had never done something like Legacy of the Forced Baby after numerous times promising to respect player choice and never force relationships then maybe, but the moment they did and refused to fix it they changed that. And I'm imposing nothing. Please, provide your evidence for your accusations.

Kratos @kingalfredok Will the story of Assassin's Ceed Valhalla be better than Black Flag?
Darby McDevitt @darbymcdevitt They won’t be comparable really. AC4 had a Hollywood style, 3-act redemption arc. ACV is an epic modeled after the Icelandic sagas. So they will operate with very different rules.
That said, ACV will have just as many amazing characters and emotional moments, imho.
Mass Effect Trilogy, Dragon Age: Origins, Dragon Age 2, Dragon Age Inquisition, Baldur's Gate, Neverwinter Nights, Mass Effect Andromeda, Mass Effect Legendary Edition

My big hope is that the story and NPC's will be as enjoyable as I found Black Flag.
Not that hard. Black Flag is the worst in the series easily.
Really?
I found it one of the best ones.
If I had to pick a top 5 I'd go:
AC II
Odyssey
Black Flag
Origins
Syndicate
For worst in the series, I'd go:
Rogue
Unity
Revelations
(I really enjoyed all the others, so I can't add any more to a 'worst' list)

Yes, really. Hated the protagonist, hated the story, hated the gameplay. The only good part of Black Flag was the Templars, whom I liked far more than the Assassins in that game.

It's a shame you didn't enjoy it, it's generally regarded as a 'fan favourite' (something I'd concur with).

Yeah. It's one reason why I'm worried about Valhalla with everyone going "Oh, it's the Black Flag team again." That plus some of the other things Ubisoft has said have me not very hopeful.
The writing and characters were just flat in Origins. A shame because the voice acting was good.
A lot of it was really forced too. Like the whole thing with Shasta, acting like we should care about a girl we meet less than five minutes earlier. Phoebe was better since we interacted with her a lot, though it was clear in the first conversation she was going to die.

I'd swap AC2 with Black Flag in your top 5 and ditch Syndicate for AC3 as it was the first AC game i played and I really liked the setting and game play. Connor I actually liked too, though many didn't. Syndicate was such a sudden change in terms of combat in particular (and I wasn't a fan) and London was OK but I didn't like all the cloned thugs etc, on the streets. It's redeeming feature was Evie and I liked the DLC.
