I was split between exploring and acquiring an ally. I decided to do one of the two allies; Grantebridge.
When doing an ally quest, it's best to follow through and finish the entire questline. The Grantebridge Alliance took about four hours or more. Of which I have to find the traitor in Soma's midst. Again, it's best to follow throw the clues until the end before doing the three missions with Soma's Council. Following the clues right up to where the longship is confirms the traitor so you don't have to do any guess work. Picking out the wrong person could affect Soma's regard for Eivor.
At the end of it, I have acquired 2100 raw materials and 100 supplies. Upgrading is expensive though. The forge is the first, the Assassins HQ next. Eivor just learned leap of faith. I also acquired two of another type of armour; Hunter outfit. The chest and the boots. Have also acquired more abilities. Three for bow, two for melee.
With the first alliance acquired, I'm now free to roam around the Grantebridge area and clear out other missions. I've to watch out though, there's a mercenary out for Eivor.

Hey in Kvotje's Fortress there is a building in the centre with a green/acqua circle thing when you do Odin's sight. I found the way in but couldn't find a way to interact with. What do I need to do? I did the fortress yesterday I think and I don't recall a quest related item in a building. Could be I don't have the quest. So when you were there did you use Odin Sight? When I did it gave an "echo" for lack of a better word, a green one which when I have come across before Eivor would make a comment. However I couldn't find a way yet a response or anything.

Sounds like a quest objective that you haven't got to yet. They often appear before their trigger. I kinda broke one of Asgard's quest this way by following those quest markers before their time. I still finished the quest later, but apparently missed on context.

The traitor is kinda obvious from the rescues. I didn't need more clues than that, but still followed them all for fun. While most people will build the Assassin bureau first, I'd recommend doing the stables and buying all mount upgrades. If you are an explorer, then the bureau can definitely wait and the mount will be much more useful. And Dazk, build those Barracks at last, so you can recruit my viking and give me pocket change as rent. I promise I will recruit your guy/girl too 😜

Are zealots invisible beings? I went past a whole bunch of dumb brown bears and killed them. They totally ignored the zealot. Only one dropped leather. Then Mr Zealot just walked through a bandit camp and nobody touched him.

Since all Zealots have a death cutscene, the developers wouldn't want you to miss on the fight. How many cultists were killed by animals, bandits, etc in Odyssey 😂

While I was fighting the bears, he was bombarding with missiles. I got out the area, went down the road, turned around and saw he's still throwing missiles into the forest. He's not killing anything so the A.I. was probably still aiming for Eivor except that she's along the road.

I'm unlikely to try for collectibles and some of the memories that seem troublesome. I generally don't bother with those in the initial PTs. All my energy is focused on treasure locations to acquire mats, abilities and equipment.
Anyway he's right regards the skills; I can't tell how much improvements there is kicking up the minor skills and getting to the major skills I want is a bit of drag compare to ACOD.
I also tried dual wielding but I'm not taken with it so I'm mostly with shield and axe, and bow.

Found a big fort, looted it, kept fighting huge enemy waves, thinking they really overdid the garrison numbers. Few hours later - the story takes me to launch a siege attack on a fort... guess where. Now the enemy numbers make sense.
Eivor: "Guys, I cleared it out for you yesterday. Why? Was bored and I saw a tattoo design. Do I need another reason? Feel free to pay me the wages of hundreds of your soldiers. You are welcome btw."

The fact that a lot of AC Odyssey fans seem to be disliking this game actually make me more curious about it.
Family friendly Vikings kinda suck though. I heard the Vikings in this game act as liberators of the oppressed Anglo Saxon peasants, is this true?

I am an Odyssey fan and I like it, but it definitely lacks some of Odyssey's QoL improvements, which is weird. The Raven mechanic being especially a huge step back. And so far there has been zero liberation for the peasants and much conquering.

The Odyssey fans not liking the game is interesting. I actually don't think it's all of the Odyssey fans that don't like it. It also has a bit of a "get out of the Hinterland Norway" problem. I'm seeing a lots of people complaining about stealth, but it's way easier to stealth here than in Odyssey/Origin even without the bird-tagging: - enemy's reaction is way slower when they spot you - getting spotted doesn't alert the whole camp, only nearby soldiers...if the person live long enough. - bow headshot one-shot all "normal" enemies. - no reinforcement system - hidden blade one-shot everything once you get the advanced assassination, much better contextual assassination too. - I personally feel that Odin's sight works much better than Odyssey/Origins bird-tagging (and with stealth recon, you don't even need Odin's sight). It's a much more in-game visual indicator, instead of paying attention to the UI. When plundering things last night, I saw that some places had X painted near the entrance to hidden wealth. I also find the combat much better than in Odyssey, despite requiring just as much dodging against bosses. I am an Odyssey fan and I like it, but it definitely lacks some of Odyssey's QoL improvements, which is weird. The Raven mechanic being especially a huge step back. And so far there has been zero liberation for the peasants and much conquering. Monastery raids involve no civilian killing though, right? Do you just kill a few guys with swords hanging around and the priests give you the money no questions asked? The priest run away, leaving only the soldiers. The old AC games caused desynchronization when killing "peasants". Valhalla gives you a warning and then force desynch/reload if you continue.

The fact that a lot of AC Odyssey fans seem to be disliking this game actually make me more curious about it. So far, and I am still in the starter area (but the starter area is long), the rpg elements are watered down from Odyssey, many things don't work as well (skill tree, etc.), and the graphics, especially for npcs, aren't as good. I am really not liking the emergent storytelling and much prefer standard side quests. I also don't like the lack of dialogue options and choices. It also probably doesn't help that the game I played before this is BG3, which I love (even with all the EA issues).

I keep forgetting the extra mouse buttons exist because I rarely use them. I ended up remapping dodge to spacebar (because my thumb wants to press that anyway), climb to shift, swap weapon and run/gallop to two side mouse buttons, and heavy attack to alt+left click. It's a lot of remapping, but hopefully will feel more natural to me. I'd be up shit creek without my extra mouse buttons for these games. I use one side button for heavy attack and the other for parkour. That frees up right mouse button for switching to bow. Then I use space to dodge as well. Was able to map most everything pretty close to how I did in Odyssey.

Eel hunting lesson - brake/burn/stomp your fishing rod, get out the Light bow and barrage the water near an eel sighting.
In general - screw fishing.

I wonder how much of that is due to CP2077 being delayed, because I wouldn't have bought the game now otherwise, but sometimes next year.

It's not like Odyssey had that many in the prologue either. The emergent storytelling offers quite a bit of them via how you decide to resolve them too, choices don't always have to be under the form of a dialogue option. And I prefer this skill tree over what Odyssey had, I just hate the fog-of-war. It's totally pointless as a feature, but I know why they put that in.

As far as KB&M goes, I'm used to having to remap everything (I prefer a non-standard movement layout), so this game was no different from any other I play. Also, Alt for Dodge?? So, yes... Dodge to Spacebar. I'm sure CP's delay had at least some positive impact for AC:V. And while I'm skeptical, I'm hearing rumblings it might get delayed again. Honestly... I would be fine with that. AC:V's gonna take forever at my pace.

HAHAHAHA!!!! So I start raiding this monastery. Super cool scene. My ship hits the shoreline, my men jump out screaming and laughing menacingly. Then the carnage starts. My men and the Saxon soldiers are embroiled in an epic and brutal battle. Me in the middle, dealing out axe blows wherever I find anyone. Houses start burning as someone threw a torch. Monks run around like scared chickens. Fantastic atmosphere, just like you'd expect. In the fray, a Monk runs right in front of my axe. The bloodthirsty Viking I am, I strike him down without remorse. Then the hige text message pops up in the middle of the screen: 'Civilian casualties will lead to desynchronization." Are you kidding me?!? I mean, really? In this game with this setting and this protagonist? In a game where brutal raiding is a frigging mechanic? I mean ... I don't even ... What the hell Ubisoft?
