Rumor: EA Is Gonna Show Gameplay For Upcoming Titles

I want it to be true but no, I don't think we will see anything.

There's almost zero chance of any Mass Effect sequel shown, unfortunately. If it is in development it would be really, really early development.

Right now, the only thing I'm kinda-expecting from BW is Anthem 2.0.

I guess they could do some kind of BioWare Dev Diary thing for the other games that are WIP (DA/ME), maybe. But the way I see it, Anthem would be the only thing that might be polished enough to show off at a next-gen event. DA4 is still ~2.5 years away, ME after that...

And unless a ME (remaster/remake) has been secretly worked on by some other studio, I don't expect to see anything on that front unless they do something in a Dev Diary format.

Well I imagine their goal here is to turn things around like No Man's Sky / FF Realm Reborn did, and we know they are committing a lot of resources towards it.

Now, you can argue whether or not they'll actually achieve that kind of turnaround, but there's no question they're putting in a lot of work to try and get there.

On a semi-related note, I see that EA is signed up for Summer Game Fest, a four-month roll-out of video game events.

I think that "non-specific teaser" was made to reassure the fans during that low point. There was a lot of rampant "BW is dead." "BW doesn't make RPGs anymore." talk at the time and I think it helped to take it down a notch.

Yeah, they could do another non-specific teaser, and I guess I wouldn't be too surprised. But I don't think it's "needed" in the same way the last one was. I'm just looking at when the game is likely to launch (~2.5 years away), and there's no real gain in waking the fandom again up right now only to be told to go right back to bed for another year and a half. And as we have seen before, doing that can actually generate more animosity in the long term.

As I've said before, the fandom is like a sleeping beast. But once you wake it, it wants to be fed - constantly. Don't wake the beast unless you're ready. 

I would like a story/cinematic trailer showing more of what the story is going to be (who our protagonist is going to be, their connection to Solas, what role the Inquisitor is going to have if any, etc). Don't show gameplay until its in a state where its locked down enough to be what we are actually going to play (and not that fraud Anthem demo from E3 a few years ago).

I rationally think some Anthem 2.0 will be on the table, but I think some teaser trailer for DA4 is definitely not impossible. I think is way too early for anything Mass Effect, tho.

Aaaand  since they have already stated that they are planning to reuse Anthem's codebase in their future projects they have to make sure that it actually works.

Last September they mentioned the big revamp was already underway, and talked briefly about it again in February. They should be deep into it now.

Now if there's one positive with DA4 landing in late 2022 it's that they go all-in on next-gen, and they can skip the headaches & compromises of making a cross-gen game. Fingers crossed that in the long run, this will have actually worked out for the best.

I hope they show something for DA4. I definitely would not want them to show Anthem 2.0 while showing nothing at all for Dragon Age 4.
