To be honest mate, and it's been a while since I played it, but I can't think of one thing that MEA did better than ME3. But that's opinions for you
I'm not arguing against it being a major fail. I was very disappointed in this game. I hope they learned their lesson (who am I kidding? See Anthem).
But here's where they improved, at least in multiplayer:
Added a (limited) ability to purchase specific items with in-game currency (including UR's) Added the pity timer Added an ammo mods pack Removed the rank1 combo ammo limitation Got rid of most of the power animations that hampered gameplay. Rage mode on White-Hazard, I'm looking at you. Can someone explain why Marksman makes it harder to see??
Added some benefit to 2nd through Nth character cards (though created its own problem) In-game per-player mute
[Edit, a few more...] Removal of the "any key". Don't get stuck to walls when running away Can use an Ops when doing a device
The ability to switch between L and R shoulder. (But Division 2 does it much better)
Individual-keyed ammo crates. BW, if you add one thing, please, please make it this! Nothing says "teamwork" worse than racing your pugs to the box to get grenades.

^^^ While I wouldn't argue against any of that, in my opinion gameplay in MEA is nowhere near as good as ME3.

See my edited adds above. But I suspect you are more thinking about: Jumpjets (I'm meh on this, mostly against in terms of verticality just meaning teammates work even less cohesively) Individual vs. global CD. Again I was "meh". I see pluses and minuses. 7 vs 10 waves (generally, a small plus to me) Faster enemy mobility/convergence. Cover less feasible. Faster, more hectic gameplay. Generally, I'm not a fan. Radar? Generally I like, and more needed with above "mobility". But detracts from one of the great ME3 MP traits (enemies lurking around every corner)
dash (I prefer rolls. And having players just spamming dash vs running just looks stupid) Objectives: some reworks I'm okay with (Fetch), some not (devices needs much longer timer. Who thought contested hacks was a good idea?)
And who thought it was a good idea to remove cover grabs, grrrrr.

BTW, seems most redditors think that post was a hoax (more a "remake" then a "remaster", redoing it all in Frostbite! ...). I'm also dubious. Though hope springs eternal...

Say what you will about Andromeda, its combat was more fluid than ME3s. They did nail that part, so honestly, I'm not concerned with that. ... hmm... you aint gonn go 'jetpacks are cool' next are ya? Jetpacks don't matter. With or without them, combat flows slightly better in Andromeda. But generally, I didn't mind them. Specifically, a Krogan with a jetpack? GOML!

I'm getting more and more excited and afraid at the same time what this remaster will turn out to be. I'm really looking forward to playing all games again and while I could certainly do so with the old ones I just can't bring myself to ever play the original ME1 again even though I totally loved the story (but the technical side is just utter crap). I'll keep my fingers crossed that the ME trilogy remaster will turn out great and the overhaul as well.

I still believe they are redoing it when I see it. I find it a bit odd they wouldn't speak about it. As for remastered MP: I had a spiffing time with ME3MP. I don't think it can be recreated like that. It was there at the right time. Maybe I'd buy the remaster if they threw in all the DLC since I only ever played ME3 DLC. But MP - I tried DAIMP and MEAMP - I've kinda had it with their takes on MP. From ME3 it went into the deep shitters mostly.

Given your Anthem posts, I can see how it doesn't jibe with your hyperfast-paced preference.
Like you and others, I try to balance my rising hope (I find myself more psyched for this than any game in years!), with skepticism about (a) its actual existence and (b: if true, how much is actually updated besides graphics.
I was contemplating an ME replay, even recently purchased the PC ME3 DLC package (long have had on XBOX). But makes sense to hold off. And it would be a kick in the head if it didn't contain all the DLC. That would make it a non-purchase.

But have you seen this week's new rumors of mysterious pre-orders appearing, and deposits being put down? It first showed a Sep 29 release, which made me more skeptical. But it has since changed to Oct 30 (changed again to a placeholder), a lot more credible. And some apparently acknowledged "insider" going by Shinobi602 more or less confirming it is happening, and coming sometime soon.
With you on the DLC part. Not purchasing yet again, and not purchasing game without. I'm betting it's all-inclusive.

I've heard "it's coming" and "it's fake" enough not too bother too much about it. After all - it's games I've already played. Multiple times. I'm not particularly excited - the only reason really would be to pick up the DLC I never saw.

All the ME and ME2 DLCs were "free" a while back. Bioware or EA made them available for download but didn't check whether you already own a copy of those DLCs. It was a while back and I don't have the link anymore. You can google for it if interested.
P.S. don't want to start a separate thread for this but Humble Bundle has the 3 MEA novels for USD15 (there are 2 other novels and a bunch of comics, not ME so just filler ).

I just want the ability to play ME3MP again on newer hardware. I don't care if there are new shinies added or not. My PS3 is... long in the tooth. But I'd buy a remaster on PS4 or PS5 in a heartbeat, most especially if it connected to the same servers and you just continued where you left off. Like how ME3MP got a revive on XBox when that older games Vault (or whatever it's called) let the XBox One folks get into ME3MP.

From the article:
And who the fuck is asking for another trash-ass stupid live service game from EA? Especially after the shitshow that were Anthem and Battlefield V? They have already shown that they can't do this properly.
Sure it would be nice to have new maps, classes and weapons, but I'm sure most of us would be fine with some bug fixes and a decent netcode. Hell, since this is EA, just keep all the loot boxes while you're at it.
Fuck this. Like really, fuck EA and their shit reasoning. ME3 is my favorite multiplayer game ever and pretty much the only reason I was stoked about those remasters.

Turns out I didn't need edit out the relevant quote. :p
Funny thing, I think I'm actually okay with it. It probably helps that I don't really jump on hype trains.
At this point, when I jump back into ME 3 MP, my enjoyment depends at least partly on familiarity. And I haven't done a new account since years ago on PS3 (which I can't play anymore due to lack of backwards compatibility.) Starting from scratch would probably be more work than I was likely to put in, given the hundreds of hours necessary to unlock everything I'm accustomed to having.
So I'm okay with a remaster not including MP. Especially after reading what they said about the first Mass Effect. Based on that assessment, they would have re-done ME 3's MP to be more like ME:A's MP, which was okay, but not nearly as good.

I would love MP to be included with a remastered trilogy, but in all honesty the priority has to be to make the original game truly playable and enjoyable with the level of technical improvement appropriate for the PS5/Xbox Series X generation of consoles. Texture and lighting upgrades won't cut it. I may not have hopes for a RE2-standard remake, but the game needs a major overhaul to make playing it desirable.
That said, I think the decision (if it's true) not to include MP is poor by EA, and fairly short-sighted. It would take a lot to convince me that the investment: reward ratio for basically re-enacting the weekly challenge series with a new release wouldn't be economically viable and profitable. It shouldn't be hard to incorporate another dozen or so MP maps from the first two games, and perhaps throw in some of the ME:A evolutions for objective waves. Still, I'm something of a die-hard fan, so I'm obviously biased regarding the joys and addictions of MP. Only the EA suits know the financial nitty-gritty, and ultimately that's all that matters. I know the MP component earned them more of my cold hard cash than both trilogies plus DLC across two console platforms. I'm not proud, and I wouldn't spend that much again, but EA's business model may not be so sure of that. A well structured MP component could be a potential goldmine.

The textures have been upgraded via ALOT since ages ago. There is no need to pay for a remaster just for that.
OTOH, I'll pay for the remaster if they just change the traffic light ending and get rid of the kid.

I'm a console peasant, where the first game in particular still looks as crap as it already did 10 years ago. But my point was that the mechanics (and inventory management) are much more in need of a serious re-working. ME is borderline unplayable, and in fact I've only played it through to completion once, compared with 11 times each for the other two games. Oh, and once for Andromeda, which demonstrates that good mechanics on their own are not any form of magic bullet. But I would love to play ME with something like the ME:A mechanics, sans jetpacks, obviously. As for the endings, I got over all that in 2012.

Considering the shitstorm the MP inclusion caused when this game was launched(not by you specifically, mind you... I'm talking the general vibe I got from teh internetz), I think we can safely say we got the whole 360 degrees around.
