...and a new age comes, then should the franchise still be called Dragon Age ?
As many of us know, The Chantry names each age (a hundred years of history) in accordance to important events that have happened near the end of every historical period. Some huge dragon appeared right when Loghain was about to kick Orlais' ass back into the empire and thus our dear and beloved franchise was named "Dragon Age".
Soooooper silly topic but I've always had this funny thought in my head. Let's just say the franchise keeps being succesful, years pass in-game and then the Dragon Age in-universe ends, then what should the developers do ? Should they even do anything ? They could just say "Dragon Age 7 doesn't occur in the Dragon Age per se... but it all started back then so that's why we're keeping the name !"

Well Flemeth called the Inquisitor the Herald/Harbinger of a new age, presumably because she is assuming Solas is going to be successful and his revamped Thedas will be in a totally new age.  However, leaving that aside, there are just over 50 years left of the present Dragon Age and we only covered some 15 years in the first 3 games, so I think we are good for having a few more adventures in the Dragon Age yet. With the length of time it now seems to take between games, some of us older gamers may expire before we get to the next game let alone the next age.  |

If they make it into the tenth century I still expect the franchise to be called 'Dragon Age.' And I wouldn't even be the least bit surprised if the Dragon Age ends up being so earth shattering for Thedas that they won't make the name permenant going into the future.
On the flip side I think the story of Dragon Age will just stay within the Dragon Age and we'll never see anything in the tenth century. Afterall we are already three games in...the fourth game is taking forever...and the next game is going to take place at the latest of 9:50...we still have half a century too go.

I would actually love for them to change name as it would thematically make the most sense, however I suspect marketing reasons will dictate that it won't happen.
The name still has to be cool though, although playing "Nug Age: The quest for more nuggets" is very tempting.

Simplest solution I guess would be to never have the franchise move out of this age. Lots of stuff can happen in just a few years. Jumping out of a total age wouldn’t be necessary anyway.

I don't know about this. I'd rather not have this saga turn into Marvel Comics where no one ages and no one dies. I fully understand your point but it would seem a bit like that if the universe didn't have the capacity to move on. I'd rather they just ignore the whole thing like they did with Baldur's Gate 2.

Once had a non-finished fan fiction that took place in the future in which I called the time period "The Damned Age"  ...kinda because everything was going to hell + the 7th Blight, and the Chantry figured "welp, end of the world is near people...let's call this age the Damned Age...'cause we're damned" 
but like I said...never finished it
though having a game called "Damned Age"
yeah, no...doesn't sound right, I mean, the damned part just cancels everything else out...makes me think of that banter Anders and Varric have about Black Marsh
